BMCC6K Full Frame CAMERA TEST | Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K OPEN GATE FOOTAGE

  • Here is a very first camera test shot on the new Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K Full Frame (BMCC6K). Shot on Leica R 35mm and 90mm f/2. All the clips were shot in BRAW :1 at 24p and 36p in 6K Open Gate 3:2. Graded with BUTTERY Natural Rec709 LUT.
So far I've been loving this camera. In my opinion the dynamic range is a bit more than the claimed 13 stops and you can clearly tell from some of these shots. It's almost impossible to clip the highlights and the shadows are super clean. In low light this camera is gorgeous. All the after sunset shots were captured at ISO 400. I also have more low light footage coming out soon on the channel. The infamous rolling shutter has not been an issue for me at all, like it was never an issue with my previous BMPCC6K. Hope you enjoy this test!

With the L mount, you can now use the Kipon focal reducers to mount medium format glass and in open gate, get a close approximation of IMAX 15/70 look. I have Pentax 6x7 glass and are tempted to try them on this sensor one day. I already use them on the FX3 w/ buttery luts and results are sublime.

Really enjoying your tests with BMCC 6k. As an OG BMCC user I think I am finally ready to upgrade to one of there newer cameras. The footage of 12K Ursa intrigued me, but I wanted to wait and see what they did going forward in a smaller form factor like this. I know you have owned and used many Blackmagic cameras, so I am really looking forward to how you compare this one with others as far the quality of the footage and color. And since this has the built in OLPF, do you still use IRND filters with it or just standard ND filters. Thanks again.

How many more stops of light do you think the full frame has over the super 35?

Can you do a resolution / frame-rate comparesment? I wonder if it can shoot in full frame 16:9 uncropped and slow motion at all? Blackmagic does not provide an overlay type of diagram so we don't really know when it crops in and when does it oversample if at all? Like a 12k does oversample beautifully

I’ll do a bunch of test at all resolution. Yes you can shoot full frame 6K DCI and 6K 2:41

Pretty footage. I received the 6k full frame. I've made a litlle test with ambient light on my house and the footage is so poor so many banding and artefacts, not usable. That's normal when used this cam on interior lights ?

@@timbolufer5554 no, but you need to expose properly at the correct iso
