It would’ve been cool to see the Temple Guards during the flashbacks of Order 66 in Kenobi
Isnt THAT what this is explaining?? Guys....we have GOT to start paying attention, at least watch the subject matter before we comment. Dont we want to be remembered as wiser than this??
Would of been a lot of cool things to see in Kenobi.
Ikr
Never know, we still got more shows to still be shown that could show that.
@@dverarde84 the mandolorians was overrated and Disney had to destroyed BOBF with 1-2 episodes focusing on Mando and Grogu but Kenobi does show the Operation Knight fall in flashbacks
Well, given how virtually all the first Inquisitors were former Jedi, I just assumed ALL of those former Jedi had been Temple Guards and subordinates to the Grand Inquisitor. Makes sense to me, given how comfortable they seemed to be in their new positions and how readily they took orders from him, as if they'd been doing it for many, many years. Temple Guards were by far the most militarized and regimented of all Jedi.
Exactly what I always thought, this video kind of confirms it in a way. There was no way Grand Inquisitor was doing it all without a little more help on the inside.
No way, the others are far too young and inexperienced to be temple guards, and all the ones whose backstories we do know have been confirmed to not be temple guards.
Not sure about that. Always kinda thought the MOST militaristic even warlike an borderline unstable, even Darkside risk Jedi even more then these guys was the Shadows. Since they was basically Jedi Special Forces/Agents an many of them were over the top extra even by most other Jedi's standards... Anakin coulda made a perfect Shadow given he acted fairly extreme an aggressive too
@@robertagu5533 Not really. Shadows weren't war like, and besides, they would have been closely monitored. Hell, we don't actually know of any shadows in the PT time period aside from maybe Quinlan Voss, who essentially serves the same purpose (at least, to my knowledge, I only know them from SWTOR cause I play as one)
No this ain’t true I’m afraid. Most of them would have been padawans at the time of order 66. Most of them would have been captured instead of Killed like the second sister. Then tortured and turned to the dark side.
The last stand of the Temple Gaurd would have been awesome.
Agree
I personally find the temple guard fascinating, no one knows who they are or how powerful they truly were in terms of individual strength, but if they were strong enough to have only a small group push back Darth Vader even if it was for a short time it shows that these jedi sentinels were incredibly strong and skilled, I am personally a much bigger fan of the sith but if there was a type of jedi I would choose to become if given the choice, I would choose to be a jedi sentinel over being a guardian or counselor
If a bunch of the inquisitors were former temple guards I don't think they would have been as weak as typically depicted
Proceeds too body everyone.
Temple gaurds were like, the first batch maybe, only a few but the rest were just Sith aligned force sensitives
The Temple Guards deserve more Honor and Respect.
*Last stand intensifies*
Definitely
I do have to wonder, was the Grand Inquisitor the only Jedi Temple Guard to defect. If I remember correctly by the time that Darth Vader bled his Kyber Crystal, many Inquisitors were already training in the ways of the Darkside of the force in the works district. Among them include the 5th Brother, 6th brother, 7th Sister, 8th Brother, and 9th Sister.
I find that extremely interesting. The new edition that a group of temple guards defended the chamber where the younglings were and caused clone troopers to retreat was mind blowing to say none the least.
Temple guards are so underrated
*Last stand intensifies*
Actually with the Temple Guards and seeing them in the Clone Wars animated series I knew they were a deadly foe to fight and hella brave in battle. I knew some of them would head to the Archives to defend them and others defend the Younglings since that was their JOB and they had to do it.
I like the idea that the first inquisitors may have been temple guards, but Rebels clearly established the inquisitors were very weak in the force, and their lightsaber skills were equally lacking. Compared to Kanan, only the Grand Inquisitor was the better fighter with the lightsaber. Later when one of them tried to "helicopter" away from Ahsoka and the blade was destroyed mid flight, the inquisitor didn't hover and/or slow fall - meaning, their flight had little or nothing to do with the force. The impression I'm left with is that the inquisitors were either impressionable younglings or force sensitives only given just enough training to overwhelm the untrained, but otherwise would be no match for a trained Jedi or Sith, which both Maul and Ahsoka proved.
Exactly right, the emperor wanted them around purely to hunt the jedi down so Vader would have a bit of free time. They were given just enough training to overpower weak opponents but never trained enough to pose a threat to Vader.
I hope We get a depiction of this, from the vantage-point of some of The 501st that got their "chips" removed. It would be great to see what The Grand Inquisitor's betrayal looked like. I'd LOVE to see what TGI's appearance would be, in TCW animation style. Still wanna know, who save Grogu...I have a very short list of possible saviors.
Hey man I love your videos!
Just a random thought, but what if the Grand Inquisitor managed to get some transferred to other temples? That would give him a good opening to get a lot out of the way, while also allowing for there to be more defections and smaller numbers defending the Archives and Younglings
Awesome video been wanting to hear about this and explained sounds good to me
Wish they’d just make a mini series already:StarWars Order 66 and explore all the stories of Jedi that fought, died, and got away during order 66 including a episode or two dedicated to operation knight fall.
The only confirmed Temple Guard amongst the inquisitors was the Grand inquisitor all the others seemed to be formed Padawan since they got curb stomped by any surviving Jedi Knights (the vast majority of survivors were Padawans).
I mean, it was normal for a master to protect a Padawan for them to escape, ultimately, the master would always die so it was (I think) very common for padawans to escape.
love this!
INCREDIBLE!!!
I like this video dude it was amazing
Fantastic...most fantastic🙆♂️🍿
The new lore with the temple group of guards taking on Vader ads a whole new level to contextulize how strong a dark side juiced anakin was
Sounds like a fairly interesting idea that it wasn't ONLY the lone Inquisitor that ended most of the Sentinels BUT that begs question HOW MANY Sentinels are we talking about having to take out an how many did they end before the 501st walked in and started shooting? Can imagine they used alot of Guerilla style ambush tactics probably in some cases literally stabbing those that trusted them most in the back while they could. I get the impression alot of Vader's Inquisition team we know of woulda made also prime candidates as sleeper agents that simply helped also ambush the Temple during Nightfall an then the 501st an Vader's arrival for a more formal attack allowed them all to slip away an let the 501st do it's thing or even allow them to be more open in some cases depending.. since apparently alot of such information imagine is still unknown right now an open to specualtion
I think something that lends a lot of credence to the first inquisitors being former temple guards is their lightsabers. There weren't a lot of regular Jedi with double-bladed lightsabers BUT it appears the temple guards used them almost exclusively and I'm pretty sure most of the inquisitors used double-bladed lightsabers too so this would make a lot of sense.
Also, if the Temple Guards were meant to be able to back up their power with their ability to take on other Jedi, it would make a lot of sense for them to be suited towards becoming Inquisitors.
I love the temple guards i will definitely be one of them
You do not want to become on my friend trust me you have to give a lot of things and receive so little
I still feel that grand inquisitor would not of been able to kill that many Temple Guards. Afterall we're literally talking about the very jedi who literally devote themselves to protecting the temple against mass scale attacks or fallen jedi it's safe to say they're well trusted to do this role well even if it's against a master that would fall to the darkside. They would of without a doubt detected the steady fall to the darkside of their brethren (later known as grand inquisitor) as it's literally part of their role to detect such. Additionally with them literally being trusted as the main guardians of the temples or other places of importance it's safe to assume they're by far very skilled jedi. In my opinion they should of definitely received more love then a cheep lazy writing and cut off they got.
As cheap and lazy as Shaak Ti being stabbed in the back by Anakin cause she was too busy meditating lol
Disney does not know the lore of SW! They just made up a lot of new characters to sell merchandise and new series.
I know of this but the way you put this it is more clear.
Yes I knew of this for a long time
Hrm, interesting enough. Sometimes I've wondered how the description of usual-Sentinels squares with the temple guard duties, (Maybe standing guard just isn't all they do) I could always kinda identify with the recent-er lore description of Sentinels. I have a tendency to do a lot of practical things and watch over particular places,
Would have made sense if the temple guards (some of them) were tasked with transporting and a lot of important archives and holocrons out of the Jedi temple through a secret passage only known to the temple guards and the librarians for times like these. And while trying to safe keep all of the archives, while going for the Holocron that has the force sensitive children in the universe on it, they got ambushed by the grand inquisitor and most died by him while some may have been able to hold him off long enough for him to decide he'll escape instead of staying back.
Nope coruscant is under complete lock down ships are in air and in space for anybody trying to run away librarian jocatsa did survive till vader hunted her down but she did deleted most archive at the temple.
Temple Guards Are Awesome.
i'd love a video of vivicar/parkanus from the first story arc of the Jedi Consular and the sith possessing him, the sith who could send jedi masters into madness with a touch
I guess it's treason then...
Shut up senate!
Love the name knightfall. So many inferences to be drawn. One is the fall of the jedi knights and the fall of night as the dark side takes power from the jedi
Just wondered about it. Never saw it in movies
I do like the temple security force idea, that there were temple guards and standard non-force sensitive security
Here's one topic : why did Jedi only have a temple on Coruscant? In the old Republic Times they had at least 3 or 4 enclaves on other planets, but not in the time of the Clone wars. I wonder why. (Of course, some of the enclaves were destroyed during the Jedi Purge and sith wars, but why weren't they rebuilt, even if in other places?)
perhaps their thought process was something along the lines of trying to direct all the new jedi, younglings, learners, etc etc. into one place instead of having enclaves throughout the galaxy?
I'm not sure myself considering it seems more strategical to have multiple enclaves throughout the galaxy. Another possible thought is the jedi on the old republic may have been much more powerful and had lots more jedi in comparison to the clone wars that they could actually warrant spreading jedi throughout the galaxy.
What's the music from 5:45 on? It sounds so familiar but I can't put my finger on it.
After deep searching on Google I found this
Most of them were wiped out by Darth Vader and the 501st Legion while protecting the Coruscant Jedi Temple during Order 66, only a few managed to escape and the identities of these few survivors are unknown. However, one of the most famous examples of a Jedi Temple Guard is The Grand Inquisitor.
I wondered this.
I wonder what would happen if the grand inquisitor protected the Jedi temple. My biggest question how well would he do against Anakin could have other Jedi help defeat time or have enough power to get out of the temple?
They should do tales of the sith and do an episode of the temple guard.
Ep 1 They should do grand inquisitor training and name reveal,
Ep 2 the grand inquisitor should have a talking with Palpatine and him hesitating and him meeting with the other inquisitor then have him attack the other guards
Ep 3 show the trans actions of the inquisitor and Darth Vader comic and the grand inquisitor studio in the archive and zooms out like old clone wars ep
I don’t think Grand Inquisitor is that big of a character to get on episode let alone 3.
Darth Maul and Darth Sidious backstories would probably be better.
Now take this knowledge of temple guards, and put it into play with Ahsoka. She, through her struggles after order 66, defeated 3 very high level Inquisitors...named ones even....while unarmed...with her bare hands. Just makes you admire her even more, and shows you the levels of power that The Daughter imbued into her to save her life. Ahsoka is no Jedi...she is beyond that.
Interesting you think it was the daughter who increased her power in the force
@@baldyhardnut260 isn't it possible tho?
it always seems that there is that one 'bird' lingering around ahsoka foreshadowing the daughter. I mean sure to an extent ahsoka is the only one responsible for her power but the daughter is a powerful entity that could theoretically help empower ahsoka.
@@vin1785 The Daughter was dieing she simply transferred the last of her essence to revive Ashoka.
She is Filonis OC. So of course she will be op.
In Clone Wars, The Temple Guards had more of a Military/Police look and attitude than guardians of peace. Which is kind of hilarious considering Jedis don't practice militarism. The role of militarism is played by the Human Clone Troopers.
On the other hand, in Rebels, the Temple Guards do have the appearance and attitude of a guardian of peace, which is expected of a Jedi.
In short, the Temple Guards of Clones Wars are the closest thing to a military/police version of the Jedi.
And there should at least be a few survivors in upcomind SW series. Like Ashoka. I can see Ashoka giving them Hope and restoring their faith in not only the force but in the Jedi in general to fight the empire and The Sith.
😢😢😢😢😢 l love that point
I've decided to further explore Grandy's backstory in my fan fiction. That before becoming a temple guard, he was in the same initiate clan as my protagonist Orion. he was merely average to the point Orion didn't even learn his name. When Orion asks his name, Grandy says that's irrelevant.
So Jedi Temple Guards had turned into the Infamous Grand Inquisitors.
I would love to see a miniseries animated with the Grand Inquisitor during the fall and right after
i wont believe until i see it!
Did they fight valiantly by any chance? You didn't mention it
They fought to the death!!! Awesome
2:25 when did this happen?! Looks pretty awesome but I don't remember it
I wonder what happened to the ones that were in the science and agriculture departments after Oder 66
first time hearing this, Obviously
Temple Guards still stalled Vader long enough for Grogu to escape probably
I never heard about this
maybe The Temple Guards Were Not Seen or mentioned In Episode 3 2005 Film Because George "Just My Thought" didn't Thought About Adding That idea In The Film. I Mean He Should've Obviously, So That It's More Convenient With The Guards Protecting The Weak jedi And Sure of Course The Archives
I'd liked to believe that there were remaining Temple Guards to fend off Vader and his Clones.
I seriously wish that they'd make a series, even if it's an animated series on the aftermath of Order 66 and how the Inquisitors came to be. I've been reading Star Wars Rise of the Red Blades and it's a book I highly recommend for everyone to read. The last part of the book deals with Order 66 and the beginning of the Inquisitors, but only told from Iskat Akaris's point of view. I'd love to see how they all chose the path of the dark side instead of fighting to save the Jedi Order, especially how the Grand Inquisitor came to turn. I think that would be a show that everyone would want to see.
Bro I completely forgot about them lmao
My theory, That night Grand Inquisitor temple guard tricked some of the gaurds into fighting each other. He manufactured a betrayal saying one would betray the other. And when the fighting started they would have believed it. So they were fighting each other and the clones. So many stood no chance.
I like to think a handful saw the writing on the wall and fled.
Can we please get a movie with just the fall of the temple. "Operation Knightfall: A Star Wars Story"
This makes sense cos even Vader would have trouble with those numbers even with clones who only used guns which are mostly useless against Jedi and sith.
I was about to say something about the inquisitor then you said it
The flashbacks of order 66 from kenobi was cool but its still not enough
For the empire
I think Disney should do a movie all on operation 66 and nightfall showing the temple guard in live action. I think if done right it would be phenomenal
I honestly don't think it matters one way or another if they were there or not. It changes nothing. Bottom line is Vader and the clones laid waste to the temple and the Jedi inside it. Assume they were there, assume they weren't, the tenple fell.
Did the temple guard by chance fight valiantly?
I think the next topic should be is about cal kestis he was a Padawan during order 66 aswll
Where's this order 66 footage from? Tv series? I only watched 1-6, btw.
Rows upon rows, upon rows of clone troopers entering the temple didn’t arise even a tinny bit of suspicion Lol
Well there were 7 or 8 inquisitors already went vader is introduced to them . Makes sense
I'd like to know if there were any left AFTER Order 66 that DIDN'T turn to the darkside
Well the temple guards were masters/knights idk which that basically dropped their identity to serve as a guard. So most likely they would be masters or knights somewhere out in the galaxy IF any of them survived
Most were fiercely devoted to their duties meaning any at coruscant temple likely fought to the death to buy others time to escape.
While this would kill alot of them its known temple guards guard more then just the coruscant temple so there's likely some out there
Take a shot every time he says valiantly
I feel like the perfect since if this ever made it to Disney+ would be 4 or 6 temple guardians with the dual light savers in pairs of 2 defending the core from the already fallen Jedi temple versus Darth Vader where they start flipping over each other with a darth maul style but come together in the end, the use judgment lightning…only to lose
Honestly, this a good 12 series, of a random new temple guardian that explains the neutrality of a temple guardian, who influence Kanan Jarris ,protected baby Grogu and die being betrayed by his temple guardian master(the grand inquisitor)
Having a whole inside the temple on order 66 finale would be crazy(:
Grand Inquastor or a grand temble guard?
What rank matter
the Temple Guards were Jedi aswell so they were hunted down and killed as much as the other Jedi themselves. Btw, the story of the Temple Guards seems largely inspired by the Swiss Guard who defended the Pope in 1527
Sad thing was: The Clone Wars wouldn't have happened in the first place had the Order not cut all funding to the Sentinel Corps and have them reorganized into honor guards for the Temple: completely going against the Sentinels' creed and modus operandi as the Orders' dedicated Black Ops Specialists that can spend years if not decades completely undercover working with planetary law enforcement agencies in order to learn the tricks of the trade.
_"It's possible to know too much about combat and the Force- if it means you know next to nothing about intelligence gathering, computer slicing, technological surveillance, or espionage. Sentinels approach these disciplines from the bottom up, without assuming that the Force will reveal all the answers. When you do this, you'll find there's a great deal the civilians of the galaxy can teach us."_
They r alive?
I havent seen the Video yet but I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that most if not all of them(Except the Grand Inquisitor of course) were either killed by either Darth Vader and/or the 501st
I always thought he had a couple fellow guards that knew and we're also promised to be Inquisitors but I'm not positive. I just remember hearing somewhere once that a couple of the Inquisitors were once former Jedi. I could be wrong.
I think a dozen jedi can takeout anakin. A conclave of jedi numbering 8 and lead by jedi master tsui choi almost defeated Vader, but the 501st came to his rescue.
Temple gaurds could have held off the 502st ,till Yoda , Obi wan could have arrived 🏁🏁🏁
The only way to defeat Vader is to call obi wan and let him do the job. Like his only weakness besides force lightning lol
@jacob Vader was defeated multiple times. Luke lost to him once and defeated him when Yoda took to training Luke. Obi wan defeat him twice. Also the suit isnt just only reason why Vader is weak against force lightning. Force lightning IS one of the strongest Sith powers. Palpetine defeated not just Vader but Mace Windu and Luke. So even without the suit as weakness, Vader would try be seriously injured by Force lightning. The only one who isnt defeat by Force lightning is Mary Sue ...i mean the Rey.
They were so powerful they couldn't even sense a basic attack coming while prepping for battle? Weird........precognition is literally the most basic force skill. The Grand inquisitor maybe could have got one........or two. Not many more than that before being cut down IF indeed they were that powerful. Just another plot tool that ignores details for convenience.
Some parts of the story I don't like, but I'm understanding even more,
wouldnt the other temple guards have sensed the grand inquisitor's betrayal? isnt the Temple Guards whole thing is that they can sense the dark side really really well
the grand inquisitor is what happened lmao
Can I just point out how much Disney has ruined Star Wars. If you look at the lightsabers from the series kenobi they look soo fake compared to the ones we see in revenge of the sith, another one is the fact that when the clones die in kenobi they don’t have and marks on them and it’s always across the body whereas in revenge of the sith we see yoda slice off a clones arm and actual wounds and lightsaber holes. I know this has nothing to do with the video however I want to make my point
Star wars didnt “finally” reveal it, its been out for a while now
this question was answered over year ago by geetsly
This would have never happened, if Obi Wan Kenobi joined Count Dooku when he had the chance.
But... how did the soon-to-be Grand Inquisitor NOT get blown away by the Clones? I mean, sure, we have to accept that they gave Anakin a pass, but some other saber wielder?
I HAVE QUESTIONS.
@UCCxKafjhdza0gs4_qzcjlfw So, your theory is the guy who JUST murdered a bunch of (fellow) Temple Guards (and presumably expected to be rewarded) not only decided to run instead of welcome his comrades into the Temple, but was also able to evade the 501st and Vader...?
See I have the question as far as why they didn't attack Vader. The inhibitor chip BS they pulled screwed so much up. Why not attack Vader? He's a Force user who looks like Anakin and uses a lightsaber; we saw them all turn, there wasn't any exception given. The natural answer is, Palpatine gave them a "Hey this guy is ok" command, except that we see that doesn't fly when the inquisitors and Vader fight jedi in the temple afterwards in the comics- the clones still turn and try to kill them. We know they don't just have the free will to get that someone isn't a jedi and isn't to be killed because Ahsoka and Maul weren't jedi and the order still targeted them as well. Disney just royally fucked it up and no one wants to call them on it because they love the clones now.
@@andrewshepherd1633 I agree, but I've come to live with it. (I mean, we saw them in the movie walking behind him, so...)
One possible idea I have for it is, if Order 66 was somewhat short lived, (i.e., the Clones wouldn't go nuts the second they saw a lightsaber a few months later), when Palpi called Appo with his O66 trigger, he specifically excluded Anakin from the Order, (Execute Order 66- but Anakin's cool, don't shoot at him; okay, I gotta call another hundred freaking guys to give them this order personally...). And since Anakin was pretty much embedded with the 501st, wouldn't be worried about other Clones seeing him and trying to go all manhunter on LOA.
@@Sephiroth144 Lol true enough, I always figured the order was given to the 501st to prepare, then to Cody, then everyone else just got a generalized "EO66!" Like you said, they were right behind him the whole time, I just can't get around it though. There're too many contradictions to me. Worse (and this part is just me whining) I wish they would have kept the moral ambiguity for the clones and not just had a catch-all "they weren't responsible for their actions- you can still like them!" solution from Disney.
I love the ambiguity without it- raised as (essentially) a slave army, indoctrinated to follow orders no matter what, bond with commanders leading the army (many without seeing the hypocrisy of their positions) and then CHOOSING to turn on them - or not depending on the clones in question. Obey orders you may or may not disagree with or protect someone you've served with? Nah we can't have the audience think- give them a way out. Was that your take before it all or did you have a different POV??
@@andrewshepherd1633 Well, being ordered to turn on them and following that order- still a choice, but a weighted one.
Of course, that brings other issues to the fore- with the chip, it explains why the Clones change in intentions would be hard(er) to read before the blaster bolts started flying. With the chip, there is a lack of malice involved, which helps explain why the Jedi didn't realize they were targets (despite having essentially a Spidey Sense).
Also? You're telling me none of the clone units went "Did someone verify this transmission? Seems like something the Seps would try and pull"
Wouldn’t it be cool if they had revealed a Jedi temple guard in kenobi? Both going through failure and despair together? Woulda been better than Reva tbh.
As always its a budget(money) reasons, if they put them out there more its money to spend. I mean Master Luminara wasnt even there when Bariss ordeal happened and in Andor most 99.99% are humans , no other species thats a huge expense cut for costumes. they only do it if absolulely necessary.
I think if the grand inquisitor did not betrayed the jedi the temple might still have hold and changed the tide of the battles
The temple guards were no different than any other jedi , they their arrogance made them think that they were more badass than they really were .
