Hi Sally, thank you for such a straightforward tutorial. I've just ordered the LK150 and eagerly waiting the delivery. I'll certainly be following your tutorials when setting up and starting out on a new adveture.
Thanks for this - I’ve been struggling for days - getting to grips with the knitting machine - this video has really clearly shown what I’ve been doing wrong. Great idea to suggest pushing the work right back for the first few rows and I’m definitely going to make a cast on rag. Great tip too about keeping the tension in the yarn - obvious when watching you, but not so obvious to me 😂😂😂
Thanks for the videos!! I’ve tried e-wrap cast on so many times and I keep dropping stitches on either end of the needles. I cannot figure out why this keeps happening to me :(
Very informative video(s) - thank you. I don’t remember if you mentioned what type of yarn you were using and what type of yarn you used for the CO rag?
can you tell me if this knitting machine ends the material? I bought one as well and I don't know I saw it with you but I can't understand ,thank you and a great day
@@sallybutcherskalamundakrafts thank you Lady yes u understood correct my question i am beginner in knitting to the machine and i try learn and your posts are great have a nice day
Hi Sally, I just replaced the retainer foam on my LK140, the needles now don’t move very freely and the Carriage is hard to knit with. I haven’t knit on the machine before. Can you tell me what you think it could be.
Hi Wendy, did you use the manufacturer recommended sponge? If the carriage is hard to push, it may need cleaning and oiling. The plastic machines still need to be lubricated.
I am very confused about this: can you get a closed edge when you cast on with waste yarn and remove it? 😭😭the manual for my ribber says I should cast on with waste yarn, but I don’t know how to fix the edge when I remove the waste yarn. I couldn’t find any tutorial about this, do you happen to know how to do this? Thank you so much! 😭
Yes you can. Cast on with waste yarn and knit several rows - I usually do 8-10. Then knit one row using the ravel cord in place of the yarn. Then pull all needles out to D position and ewrap with your main yarn, onto the same needles with the ravel cord. When you take the work off the machine, pull the ravel cord out and the waste yarn will drop away.

Thank you so much Sally for explaining everything so well. I've had weeks of untangling yarns
Very good to see such variation on casting on in one video. I particularly like the idea of making a cast on rag - less wasteful on yarn over time.
Thank you
Your amazing Sally 👏

I find easier to crochet the cast on. I started learning to machine knit only today! Thanks for the videos!
dank je voor de mooie uitleg ,Sally.Na het zien van al je video's kunnen we oefenen !!
Thank you!

Very cool hack at 14:00 with the ravel cord. I've been knitting for years and never knew this trick. I'll be using it from now on.
To the best of my knowledge, I invented this cast on method. I’ve not seen anyone else use it prior to my first posting it on RUclips.
...and I agree, Diane Sullivan truly inspires me.
thankyou so so much for these fab cast ons
Glad you like them
I like yours Sally!!!

Hi, it would have been some leftover DK yarn.

Yes, this type of cast on is closed, so the edge doesn’t unravel. I hope I understood your question correctly.

When using my machine the lever at triangle keeps moving to other position when knitting?
Hi Karen, keep a careful eye on where your hands are on the carriage as you move it from side to side. These levers do flip easily.
