- WE ARE MAKING SHEEP FEED!!
And this year, it's my mission to stay positive for hay season...
So... after lots of sweet talking, I convinced Mark that we needed to do hay a better way. Meaning, lets get someone else to do it! LOL
So, the only equipment we needed to work was our discbine.
And... it blew up.
Thankfully, we were able to borrow our friend's which worked amazing.
This is part one of two for First Cut Hay 2020.
ENJOY!

I never knew watching an overhead view of someone cutting hay was so relaxing!
Haying season is one of my favs to watch that for.
@@dorkydragon À
I know I’ve watched it twice now as was loosing the plot but ok now
Hee hee! Me too!
The drone footage was so relaxing! This city girl doesn't know much about hay harvest, but I'm learning a lot on these videos! Huge respect!
I concur!
Well done!👏👏👏💕😱 oops🤷♀️
I am old lady in condominium Irvine. This gives me more pleasure than it Netflix ever did
She's not a city girl, she's a sheep girl...
@@arnoldshuckerrr2596 the person who wrote the comment is a city girl.
Obviously Sandi isn't XD.
I just don't love sheep videos I'm loving them ALL. From cleaning cutting planting fixing good days bad days Jess & Jack working. I think it's because somewhere in my blood that's where I'm a farmers daughter. Thanks you guys you make my day and you motivate me to do what ever it is I need to do.
So glad you showed this aspect of your farm, I loved watching the magic of your machines
So happy the youtube algorithm showed me your videos one day. Love your content! Been watching for months now and I never would have thought these type of videos would be relaxing and exactly what I needed during the day/around bed time!
That was great to see, another side of farm work. Love your videos ,Sandi. You are such a hard worker, you all are.. Love from Ireland. 💚🇮🇪☘
Sorry for your family's loss Sandy. It's never easy missing such an important family member. Hope he is having fun chasing your little tarrier in heaven.
Drone footage is so Cool and the video is certainly worth your Time and Effort for us. Thanks! 👍
Sandi, not sure if it's the great music but there's something really romantic about you filming your husband working. It's so sweet.
I like watching your family work together on the farm. Proud of your family.
Never seen such beautifully straight rows. GPS much be a blessing. When we farmed, there wasn't GPS guided farming. Just beautiful, loved the Arial shots. 💜
It’s so soothing to watch the hay pour out.
Loved the drone footage and always look forward to your vlogs keep going and always put 100% and more in to everything you do. You are an amazing person
Keep up the amazing videos Sandi! I'm a RUclips Vlogger too so respect all your hard work and effort!
Really like the aerial view of hay and grain work.
Loved watching harvesting drone footage fantastic. Thank you for taking us along. I love you guys and appreciate all your very hard work. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️❤️❤️❤️granny b.
Absolutely loved that aerial part of the video. Your choice of music made an excellent background for the action on the ground. Very nice work. Keep it up! i loved it. Thank you for continuing to include us and making it a joy to watch.
Had to LOL, Sandi, at Marks 'lanes' for you!!! It's a man thing... If people really understood the tremendous financial commitment of our farmers to keep producing, the tremendous commitment of time, energy, and foresight, they would never take a farmer for granted. You two are amazing!
I absolutely love the drone shots!! Felt so relaxed watching it 😊♡
I love how ur sunglasses match the alfalfa 😂🤣
Ha ha! Didn't notice this before!
I LOVE watching this part of farming also. Seeing all that you have to do for your operation to work is so great.
Loved the drone footage and being able to get a bigger picture of the farm...
I wish I could smell the fresh cut alfalfa. Such sweet perfume!
very soothing to watch the hay being cut
As someone who loves to cut grass, this is the most satisfying video to watch. Thanks for sharing Sandi!!
why is cut areas so brown, granted not turf???
@@CurrentChoices cut close, not turf
Literally loved our relaxing drone hay cutting segment you gave us! Thankyou!
Love the aerial view. Beautiful......thanks for sharing!
So fun to watch and learn.
So cool that a field that just looks like a bunch of weeds and over grown grass turns into hay.
Love watching haying. Must be weird, love watching you clean the barn and love haying.
It's just so satisfying to watch the equipment in action. Makes it look so easy! Which it isn't!
Stuff happens to everyone. If it's not one thing it's another and at the most inopportune time! 🤔
We used to joke about tell us when you want it to rain...then we'll do hay. Guaranteed it would rain...
I could watch Hay Harvesting all day!!!! So mesmerizing and calming. Thanks for this awesome video Sandi!!
My days are complete with Sandi and her Sheep!!
I found your channel and fell in love with the sheep, didn't really care for the field work side of things. And then I decided to start watching your videos from Vlog 1 onwards....... I LOVE FIELD WORK NOW!!!!!!!
I wish I could come volunteer for a season to work for you all!!!! Everything you guys do, I wanna be a part of!! Your family is amazing Sandi, ALL of you!!! Thank you for letting us into your beautiful spot in this crazy world ❤🐑🚜❤
I could watch this all day. 🤗
I love your vids don’t get discouraged with hay it happens to everyone
I know squat about farming of any sort but we are surrounded by wheat, canola , grapes and sheep farms. I just love watching your vlogs . It's reality vlogging and about real people.❤️
Hi Sandi- great drone footage and thanks for posting the hay being cut for us non farmers.,those machine are very expensive so it’s real nice to see Neighbors helping out when someone’s breaks down. I look forward to your posts each time!👍👍❤️❤️❤️🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🌾🌾🌾
I started watching because of your lambing but I love listening to you talk and now getting to see the other aspects of your life is just so cool!
Thank you for explaining the second and third cuts. For some reason, I thought you had to replant after every cut. Nope, its just like grass, mow it and it'll grow again.
This was sooooooooo beautiful to watch. I could smell fresh cut hay through the screen :)
There is something magnificent, beautiful, and divine about farming~
RUclips footage with superb drone cinematography. I didn’t know mowing hay could be so much fun to watch.
There is something beautiful and simple about cutting hay, no high tech fancy pants equipment. Good hard basic work.
Boy do I love that Drone footage mixed into the video's you all put out. It really gives a view of what is really happening on a wide overview of what the machine is performing on the crop. Close up of the workings inside and around the machine while running is very cool too. Sometimes you position the drone close to the harvester or combine or plow ect. and get a view as if we are standing on the back or side of the machine. Very cool. Thanks for all that extra work and editing it takes to include and shoot drone footage for your video's. Cheers from Michigan.
Good morning sweet lady I hope your week gets better.
I love this. Please don't stop sharing
oh I miss the smell of fresh cut! and "bless you jess!"🤧 always started with equipment chaos to do hay and then the annoying frustration of stuff not working right during the process....it felt like a giant chore but it was so satisfying when it was all done and we would have a bbq party with everyone who helped....always the best party!
Helen Hoge-croom I wondered if cut hay was that wonderful scent I used to smell, most of it makes me sneeze, but loved the scent...there’s an herb that smells like new mown hay 🙃 Sweet Woodruff. I used to grow it in Nashville home, but haven’t thought to look, for it since I moved back to Alabama. Think I shall.🙂
Sandy you are one strong women! You always make everything seam so easy and fun and we know it’s not!! Keep going you’re doing amazing!! Only one who keeps trying can fail so take you failure as a compliment!! ❣️
Sandi great vid, great editing !! Love hay time hang in there stay positive, I love your sun glasses . THANKS !!!!
Love when you use the drone the views are so beautiful love it you guys are amazing working together to get the jobs done please keep the videos coming makes my day god bless take care stay safe.

Thank you for your videos. This was super cool to see. I'm originally from New York City and dont have a clue about what goes into harvesting hay. That done footage rocked! That is a lot of work you guys do to keep things going on a farm.💞
*drone
just cutting and hay it self is calming and satisfying if you live on a farm
You are always uplifting! Looking forward to your next video!
I could watch him do that all day cannot.lie
You have a very impressive set up there, Sandy and family. Be proud. ❤️
Amazing drone footage , thank you , teamwork always , enjoy ! Bob
I love your videos, like a lot of people. But just know that you show me that no matter what you CAN push through hard things, Thank you so much 😊.
Farming is so much work. You're doing great guys 💪👏
Sandi I just want to say Thank You for making these videos. Which I go to my aunt's farm sometime and they have beef cattle. I never knew about the sheep stuff until watching your channel and plus the planting and this video. Which I do know how to plant food from my mom who grew up on the farm. I would think it would be wonderful growing up on the farm like both of my parent's did until they grew older and the families moved into town. They both live in a rural area in Minnesota. Thanks
Learning so much about equipment.
The camera work on this video was superb. I'm here for the lambs (and you!) But this was a nice change and certainly interesting!
LOVE all the awesome aerial footage!! Great job!
I really like the music you pick :) happy and upbeat is awesome. It's also like asmr watching the purest cuts, and moving one pile to another. :) I enjoy watching your video, keep up the positivity Sandi! ♥
So happy to see the farm work.
I could almost smell that fresh cut!
Sorry about the loss of your dog love your vids. To Duke 🍷
I just love the beautiful patterns on the land. Farmers are the SALT of the earth. God Bless you and let Divine Light Shine.....
Seeing your work on the fields with the hay.. That was so cool! I've never seen hay harvested before, never even knew it was still green when cut! 0_0 Sooo fun and mesmerizing to just see it all in crisp lines like that.
Sandy I love you vlogs it’s what I binge watch the weeks editions on Saturday’s over coffee! BTW my husband tells me to stay in my own lane all the time......all the time! 🤪
Learned something new today ... I had to pause the video to google what the difference between HAY and STRAW was. Done ✅. Before today I would have thought that you were just cutting down weeds and not realizing it was hay and full of nutrition for farm animals.
love watching you cut hay. My parents had a small farm and we cut a 10 ac and then we will bail it in small bails to feed out 20 head cows.wonderful memories .
Alfalfa! My favorite flower 😊
Sandi I feel that! My entire family gardens but I run the rabbits and meat side of things. But anytime I go to tend garden the plants all seem to die. Love your channel and the work you do!
Thanks for sharing Sandi, Cutting and putting up Alfalfa is my favorite crop. I do have a suggestion, We put up 2000 acres alfalfa in Kansas. 16-18' swathers at 2 1/2-3 ton per cutting. I would close the shields so you don't drive over the windrow. Since you're chopping and running it through a crimper. Also pickup the rows with the merger the same direction it was cut will not leave any behind. Where you need all the leaves as this where the protein source comes from mainly. I could see from the drone that was picking up one row opposite the way it was cut and another the same way. The row will look white as it pushes stems over as if they were being seen from the ground to top of stem where cut. Depending on humidity and ground moisture make up many of the details. Yes putting up hay take a lot of maintenance to the equipment. I miss the fields and how pretty the field looks after cut and hay all baled up.
The drone footage was so relaxing. The music was awesome too!!
Popcorn ruby Betty goat and billy are clever 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑
I can almost smell the freshly cut hay threw my phone screen XD.
Don't get discouraged. We all have that one time of the year were everything seems to go wrong.
Uncle is cutting hay also. He sharpened the cutting blades because last fall he threw up a dinger (big stone) coming off hay meadow 1. There were a few choice words that were spewed. He will be turning today and hopefully bailing tomorrow. That is if he doesn't get rained on.
Sandi - I too love the drone footage. Down here in the midwest alfalfa is also grown. Usually it is cut one day, and then depending on how much humidity is in the air, the next day it is raked to basically turn the cuttings over so they can fully dry before the crop is baled, and then stored for usage. I will be following this effort with you and Mark to see what happens after the cutting and merging. Blessings to you and your family from the retired Pastor in Davenport, Iowa.
Great educational video with a smile!!
Hay and silage season is the best time of the year
I love your videos I’ve been showing sheep for the past five years I just got into pigs this year You’re amazing thank you so much work to keep our economy going

So so sorry to hear about your old collie. My son and I have just learnt about your amazing vlog and are now hooked as smallholder shepherds in the UK.
I love your channel and videos!!
Your drone footage and presentation is amazing! I like learning about all the technical information about things, too.
loved this one the drone footage was super awesome and cool to watch
Nice video, thx for sharing Sandi ! Greetings from Belgium
Cutting hay was always my favorite job . . . Long before the days of GPS and auto-steer.
I could watch your videos all day long, the drone shots and music was very relaxing, outstanding job.
Mine too, Travis...and I still cut both grass and alfalfa today without GPS or autosteer. We produce tons of it!
My 61 years of life have been spent on ranches with livestock and horses. To this day, the world never feels so right as when I have a barn full of hay.
