I work at ultium cells, and we have union representation but are not under the 'master contract', meaning we will have to make our own contract. I don't understand why we are hearing about all the great things Ford has done, instead of hearing that the wages have gone up. It's like these people are totally oblivious to the fact that the price of literally everything has gone up about 30 percent in the last 10 years. If we are going to sit around and ignore inflation, then our pay needs to go up proportionally. There's nothing there to argue about.

Workers only seen a 3% raise in 2019 and a 3% lump sum bonus and went twelve years without a pay raise after concessions were giving in 2008. Because America's will always buy America cars. If you look at the wage gap in the last 50 years all workers across America have stagnant wages. CEO's and share holders are making the money. Also 50 to 50 years only one person had to work. Today both parents need to work. Something one parent or both parents need a part-time job. Years ago average income wage of $7000 one year could buy a $7000 house. So you do stand for working class? Do you stand for management and government taking money away from people. That would be illegal, I assume. As a public company, they have a legal fiduciary duty to do what is in the best interest of their shareholders as they are the owners of the company. If those shareholders come back around and sue them, then what. It's a double-edged sword, unfortunately. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. The big 3 stocks have been a joke for investors for over a decade. It's a tough sector to gain investment as an investor, and they want to change that. The only way to fix this is to make it illegal by law and to stop buybacks, but then no one would invest as more shares would lower the companies value. More of something, the less value it has. I am for the union but what they are getting from Ford is not a bad deal, raises, no more tiers, more profit sharing, better health, and the ability to strike on plant closures is not a bad deal in my opinion.

He was a salaried employee and often got paid less than the union production workers if you count the time he put in unpaid. He died before retirement in the 1980s. HARVARD INDUSTRIES saw fit to screw his widow out of his pension. To quote my father " A car is the most overpriced thing on the planet". I for one believe him. I’m just an ordinary guy who earned 42K a year, I got laid off my job (retired at 60, no one would hire me) and took all my 401K money (92K) and saw Tesla as a good investment. Invested the whole 92K in in Tesla stock in mid 2019. Those shares are worth over a million today. Don’t believe me, do the math on the internet. Ford is at the crossroads to do the same kind of growth as Tesla in the years to come. To all Ford UAW members, take the offer from Ford. Keep Ford from going bankrupt and invest in the company stock, buying as much as possible over the coming years. With your retirement pay and what you will earn in stock, you will do way better than I did. Your future retirement will be care free. Don’t be dumb and let this opportunity slip threw your fingers. Its a big mistake thinking EVs will be popular enough to gamble a large amount of investment while not offering a selection of simple 4 cylinder small displacement vehicles with efficient automatic transmissions that can be in the market for under 17k dollars. No one wants a CVT while failures like Nissan and others champion the junk coming out of JATCO, Many don't want hybrids or other potentially high maintenance vehicles that potentially might cost an already budget strained employee working an hourly wage job in Florida. The garbage coming out of Hyundai is a crap shoot getting to 100k miles. Florida is the largest population in the country with no mass transportation. People really need to depend on their vehicle while they will exceed 200 thousand miles in the 7-8 years while it most likely will be financed. Not everyone can afford the arrogance coming out of Toyota these days. Nothing they make is less than 30,000 dollars. Most everyone has taken their smallest vehicle out of the market deciding they displace sales of larger vehicles in their line up. The Chevy Spark or the Mitsubishi Mirage should have never been sold in America, They are simply not robust enough for the American roads. Looking at all my past vehicles the 1984 Mazda B2000 was simple dependable and cheap. It wasn't fancy or filled with gadgets just cheap to own and drive. A simple SUV with practicality in mind when the CEOs decide they actually care about customers. Owning a Suzuki Samuai was also a rewarding and inexpensive experience. Driving it as a second vehicle i never thought twice about a week long road trip even after 150,000 miles on the clock. Am i going to take my Chevy Spark on a week long road trip at 150.000 miles? No. I'm pretty sure it will be in the junk yard by then. But that is what makes Mary a rich girl, selling junk to people that have no mechanical smarts. And Yes, There's a lot of caviot's in the ownership of a Chevrolet Spark. Especially when dealers refuse to service them in accordance with the owners manual. There's a lot of room for simple quality as the coming economic years might have Americans thinking like Europeans In their affordability and most probably abandoning the luxury of once driving whatever we wanted as Americans to now wanting a roof over our heads and something on the table to eat.. The desire to spend 40,000 dollars on transportation may be dwindling, electric or not. Most working in theme parks and hotels probably know and trust what an oil change cost but are not gambling on the cost of batteries for a ( Testicle ) Tesla. Did I say that. Gee, Sorry...

That's not how liberal economics works. Workers are paid based on supply and demand. What is the supply of workers who can do this task and what is the demand for this task to be done. None of these union workers are skilled employees in any way shape or form. You can train people to do these jobs in a couple of months, so there's no reason to give these people pensions so these companies have to pay these people for decades. That's utterly absurd and it's the reason Chrysler and GM went bankrupt and were bailed out by the rest of the citizens of America. As a citizen of America and a taxpayer I have zero interest in paying for outrageous salaries for the workers of Chrysler Ford and GM. They don't deserve outrageous salaries more than anyone else in America and it's utterly selfish and absurd that they think they do.

You conveniently leave out the concessions the UAW gave after the 2008 crash. You also leave out the record profits Ford has been experiencing since then.
Your comments on workers being “unskilled” and not worth the income shows you have never worked the line.

    "136 days in 1969-1970
The longest GM strike took place in Flint. More than 2,000 workers went on strike over production standards at the Fisher Body 2 plant starting on September 29, 1969.
A deal wasn't reached until February of the following year. A month after an agreement, every employee at the factory was laid off when GM announced the site would be turned over to Chevrolet."

I'm an investor. Look at their 10-K and their credit rating. There are no record profits. Their credit rating is "junk" (non-investment grade). GM is one notch above junk. Bankruptcy is a very real possibility... At first I supported Fain, but after extending the strike on Ford after their latest offer, it's clear to me that Fain is an ideologue. I feel bad for the rank and file members as they have a leader who is leading them to the unemployment line. It won't be tomorrow or even next year. First they will try cost cutting measures, then try to move plants, then finally restructure like Yellow did. Even if the UAW took this deal, it's not clear to me whether Ford will survive without massive cost cutting efforts and/or a government bailout.

@@Detroh7 That I can agree with you on...They are taking large losses on EV's and trying to subsidize those losses with their ICE vehicles. The EV transition has been quite impactful to their profitability. Without that, they would be in a much better position. I'm not an EV fanboy nor do I agree with the EV mandates.
