It happens in everywhere, if you want good figure of salaries and facilities, you have to put more efforts in job than your lifestyle. But still we have to make time in order balance both job and personal life. Because both are dependent on each other.
I suppose if an Indian, Thai, etc. wants a job in China, he/she must have the desired skill and Chinese language proficiency. When my nephew married a Chinese girl, his first task was learning Chinese for six months. Even though he has a MS in electrical engineering, his language proficiency was not enough to land him an engineering job. He could have taught English, but he did not desire to do so, as he didn't have a teaching diploma. Currently, if you are proficient in a specialized technology, and China needs it, they may waive the language proficiency.
