I purchased the Gweike Cloud Pro I and II didn't have to many issues. To me it seemed better than the II. It came with an external air filer and pump so it didn't has the same issues with the lens getting dirty. That being said I have now purchased the Xtool p2 and hands down 100% it's a better machine. It cuts circles around the Gweike

Hello! FYI, I have the same and about the camera. For me, the painful part was the calibration in Lightburn. Besides that the camera works really great. And no issue with Lightburn, except the Frame function, which needs several attempts to perform it completely.
Also your focus point when cutting plywood doesn't seem to be ok, your cuts look quite thick/wide and not as thin as they should be. (Side note, it's my 2nd CO2).
I'll look into the FB group and see other comments/user issues, I may be lucky with mine :)

Looking forward to seeing all upcoming videos when you use the Gweike Cloud. I bought one myself 6 months back, and haven't used it a lot but I'm happy with the results.
When you use the focusing, a small tip is to set the Z offset instead of setting the focus height before cutting every time. So let's say you are cutting 6mm wood, I use -5 in Z offset. ( -17standard focus height + (6mm plywood*2) = -5 z offset) or when you use 3mm wood ( -17 + (3*2)= -11 Z offset) this has been working great for me.

Great review Sam always a pleasure hearing your honest thoughts and great catch with the the air assist recirculating the smoke. That makes their air assist a major design flaw that definitely needs to be addressed.

I didn't put it into this video, but talked to their support about it at length. I was told this was a superior design and they made the change based upon user feedback from their first version (external air assist). Unfortunately, they had poor feedback in my opinion. :) Now that the initial review video is done, I can begin to hack into this machine to improve it. Thanks Chad!

@@Samcraftcom I look forward to seeing how you modify it. I also have the Pro II. This is my first CO2 as well. I do like the machine a lot, but I wish I could do line layers faster than 40mm/s. If you go above 40mm/s it'll yeet itself out of alignment.

@@Samcraftcom Honestly there should never be that much smoke sitting in the machine.
It means that you're not venting the machine properly and either need to straighten your hoses and/or add an inline exhaust fan to beef up exhaust.
Smoke should be coming from material, and be sucked straight down, or straight back through the exhaust port, nothing "floating". This "floating" smoke is probably whats causing the lens to get dirty, not the air assist, as the air assist blows through the nozzle, not into the lens. Having a slight "dirty" air assist would make no differences to the lens.
I ran and optimized Trotec lasers for almost 10 years, we had 2x 2hp blower motors per machine to properly push exhaust out for big laser jobs.

Great informational video, Sam. I’ve never used a diode laser, so I could compare this to my CO2 laser. The camera problems are significant. The benefits of a camera during and especially after running a job are amazing - but it has to continue working or it loses every advantage.
I am also concerned about the smoke/debris circulation problem. Junk floating around in the air is not a good sign.
The interface with the cloud is bothersome. I need to rely on my own work to get me through a task. My Internet is not a reliable partner.
Thanks for once again plodding through the mud of new technology to get me some good answers for questions I’m glad I don’t have to encounter.

I think the aamera issue stems from that it isn't really part of the machine. It seems to be an add in that is powered by the computer. Then when the computer starts doing other things, it drops the process for the camera and that makes it go out. I remember having an issue with USB powered things a few years ago (my wifi adapter would disconnect for no reason and then re-connect). Turned out to be because Windows will tell USB Ports to go to sleep if not engaged. Not sure if Windows 11 still has this issue (this was back on Windows 10), but it might be a factor. Dunno :x Might just leave my camera disconnected as it is, haha.
But great video, thanks! Helped me figure out how to turn on the machine with the red level (oddly not included in the directions).

Great video. I just received my Gweike Cloud Pro II yesterday. I wish I had seen your video before I bought it. I may have bought the Omtech Polar instead of this. The air assist is a problem. It seems to take some time to ramp up to speed. I am going to try using an external air assist pump instead of the one that is included. The other problem that I see is that you have to refocus the laser each time. The laser head homes after every use, so running repetitive jobs is really annoying. I have not used the online software. I have tried using the offline software that I downloaded, but it is not easy to use. The software seems to take a long time to do the simplest moves. I may try adding an offline control panel. It seems to be a direct plug in to the controller. The fan on the radiator for the cooling is always running, so it forces the smell out of the front vents when your done using the laser. The exhaust system works great. The wireless fan control is a big help. I'm looking forward to seeing a follow up video after you have added some refinements.

It would be cheaper. Just a suggestion. Love these videos.

  • @heffe2001

I wondered about that air assist as it was (most of these desktop cutters do this from what I've seen), and I think the conversion over to 'shop air' would absolutely help, especially with the Cloudray type air assist setup. You'd have to figure out the wiring (I'm assuming they toggle the power to the air assist pump to turn air on and off), but you could have a small amount (5psi or so) going all the time, and then when lightburn turns on air assist, have it bump up to 25-35psi for cutting. That it's a 'turnkey' solution that really needs some modification to run efficiently doesn't really surprise me at all, most of these (for lack of a better word) off-brand lasers need mods to really open them up. As far as the rotary issues (height available), I assume there's a trap door under the unit that would accomodate things larger than the laser travel, but you'd need to take that into account when making your surface, and either raise the laser up on a pedestal, or make a cut in your surface and basically add a box that goes below it to house the rotary (verified by the documentation, it's got a trap door under the crumb tray)? Just make absolutely sure you kill power before plugging or unplugging that thing in, otherwise you'll likely short out that axis' driver.. Definitely answered some questions about the unit I had though, as always, great review.

Love the videos man keep em coming. Biggest thing with co2 in my eyes is the tube and water cooling. Diode lasers are air cooled but co2 are water cooled so its a whole new animal in my eyes.
As far as your camera and disconnect issues - make sure your usb ports are set to not power down. Windows is notorious for this and I never understood why as usb ports don't use much power anyway lol Just a thought for something else to check if you haven't already. I'm intrigued by why you consider the negative aspects to be the most significant. Could you elaborate on why you hold this view? I'm interested in hearing more about your perspective and understanding your reasoning behind it.
Since you happen to place greater value on the negative aspects of something, I understand. Here are some thoughts on this particular video.
I would have preferred it if you discussed the main topic of the video earlier instead of taking two minutes out of a twelve-minute video to introduce it.
It would have been helpful if you had taken the time to determine the engraving area's size and mentioned it during your video. Sent you made it a point to illustrate that it was not the same as the cutting area.
While you claim that you didn't test the device beyond its capabilities, you only tested it with materials that you wanted to use. Acrylic and other materials are advertised as being within its capabilities, so it's a significant oversight tonight, task that and claim it’s because it’s outside it’s capabilities.
According to your own admission, it took almost seven minutes for you to get to the central points of the video, which is not ideal.
Regarding the camera issue, is a light burn issue, which is a common problem with integrated cameras.
Despite these issues, your video had some valuable insights, and I appreciate that. I subscribed to your channel, and I hope you'll consider giving equal weight and realization of the actual value of the positive aspects of your content in the future.
