I'm a crocheter learning to knit socks. I have a pair that I've restarted 1,000,000 X. Maybe it's closer to 6 or 7, but I lost count. My nemesis is the heel. I'm going to get it. I'm determined. I took a quick break to crochet a pair. I need a confidence boost. I'm about to go cray-cray on some socks. I'm encouraged. I can't pick my favorite out of your box because they are all beautiful. I like the orange ones because I like the colors. I haven't put the knitting away yet. It's in a yarn bowl waiting for me to come back. Right now it's Dec 23, 2024. I want to finish one knit sock before New Year. I will make the next one right away. That way, I can say it took two years to knit a pair of socks. ❤
@@barbaramatthews4735 I've had a few pairs that took me a few year lol. It happens. Its one of those weird things that is a bit of a struggle until suddenly it clicks and its not a problem anymore. Thats what happened for me, but it took struggling through a few to hit that point. Hopefully you're close to the click point:)
I've made roughly 200 pairs of socks, and I don't get tired of them. I've done ALL of them with a heel flap and gusset because of the same thing- a high instep- so I can customize the heel flap to make them fit. I do live where I can wear them at least 6 months of the year, which is nice! 😊
@@tatersprecious5827 Thats incredible! I love making them, but don't feel like I will ever need that many unless I move somewhere colder. So fun to make though! So I always have a sock going.
Omg!...I just found you!...I am addicted to socks, and your video was absolutely excellent! there really isn't anything else like sock knitting...it,s so rewarding and amazing....and I just joined Summer Lee,s colorwork club a month ago as well....every pair you made is gorgeous!...man..your colorwork pair really was something!..thank you for taking the time to make this video....
Thank you so much for the lovely comment :) Sock knitting really is great - I never really caught the bug until now and now just can't stop making them!
Not boring at all, super informative!! I am a fairly new sock knitter, currently working on my 8th or 9th pair of vanilla socks. All the same toe and heel. So, hearing all of the lessons you have learned is super helpful. Love all the socks you made, but if I have to pick a fav it would be the pretty grey lace that don't fit you!! The are gorgeous. Thank you for this video, great job!!
Thanks so much for the feedback! I was torn when making it, because I would have liked someone laying it out like this when I was newer, but my videos like this haven't done super well before lol. And I love those lace socks too! I need to figure out another lace pair to make to replace them that actually fit me, lol.
I adore Stroll! I have so much of it. 😅 I have some sensory issues, and everything I've made with it has been so soft, squishy, and fun. ❤️ I recently bought some to make a couple comfy hoodies, but I've never made a sweater before... 😬 But, I know how to make socks! ...So, I'm always making some out of my huge Stroll stash. 😋 I also bought some Muse Joyous and Impulse, haha! Joyous is cute, but IMO, Impulse is mesmerizing! I had no idea how beautiful it actually was, until I started knitting with it. Deep, gorgeous jewel tones that blend into each other. Last I checked, it didn't exist in the sock weight, anymore. 😕
Stroll is absolutely worthy of majorly stashing. It's the best all around yarn in my opinion. Sweaters are really not hard - if you can make socks, you can definitely make a sweater :)
@@showandtellmegWait, really? The amount of yarn required makes me nervous, for some reason. 😭 Whereas, socks are only an investment of like, 1 ball! I got the new Stroll Nevermore (so pretty!) and Pastilles, in order to make a couple sweaters or hoodies or something. And 1 skein of Egg Hunt (bright and fun!) for socks, because, of course. 😅 Okay, I'm gonna find an easy pattern. 😊 Thank you!
@Acidfunkish Cute! I havent seen the new ones yet. They will be having their black Friday sales starting this week so im excited to see what I need to grab lol.
I love the beetle juice socks. I’ve been a little obsessed lately. I’m making my own version of beetle juice socks right now. I also really love the colorwork socks. The red with gray is really nice.
Thanks so much! The Beetlejuice ones were just so fun I had to do it. And im kind of addicted to the colorwork cuff socks. Im excited to plan more with the other cuff patterns she gives us :)
@sarahrudd4995 Oh right! Yes, a year or more ago she decided to take down all of her patterns and books. She occasionally makes them available, but its very random.
@@onajourneylife2242 I usually start right in the middle of my pinky toe, but I find it doesnt make much difference if its just before or just after it either. I actually couldnt tell you which ones were which anymore lol.
