I review stuff here also. I usually never talk. I figure there are plenty of others talking about the item. I figure people just want to here. Less talk - more action!!!🤙
That is the nicest D 18 I've heard in my entire life of 67 years. What a fantastic job prewar guitars is done you wouldn't be able to hear this type of Tonewood unless you had a very old well played guitar that would take decades to get to sound like this. Thank you for sharing this beautiful guitar with us!
Waouu , the bass are haunting. What a stunning and sounding dread , I’ve enjoyed every bit of your video, not to mentionned your « cover me up « Jason Isbell intro made my day . Being locked in at home in my garden by a sunny afternoon right outside Paris, France and listening through my headphones to your pre War co demo is a treat. Thank you Sir , love your playing. Respect from France
Well done, well done!!!! Great playing and a wonderful sounding instrument. I have a Herringbone on order but won't have it in my hands until late next year. In the meantime, I'll just keep looping this video!!!!!
Geez...Every time I see yet another video, of an instrument from Pre-war Guitars, I start to feel like one of Pavlov's dogs. Wes, Ben and crew, are doing a 000-G build for me (Level 1, 'cause I can beat it up, all by myself. Thank you). It's due around the end of my 65th revolution around old Sol, late next year. Good thing, that time seems to go quicker, these days. ;-)
I can confidently say that this is the finest instrument I have ever laid my hands on. I really wish it was mine. My boss let me borrow it to do this demo and I instantly fell in love with it! Couldn't put it down!
Love the sound. Absolutely beautiful. However, and I'm not hating, something always sounds off on the trebles to me with pre-war guitars. Idk what it is
This guitar appears to be a herringbone/rosewood model given the binding and backstrip, and inlays as well, but it is a mahogany “D” model, yes? Sounds fantastic, and your playing is excellent, just want to clarify for those of us who may have one on order, especially. Sounds like mahogany, but, all appointments are the herringbone model, so, just in case…
I usually use Elixir Phosphor Bronze mediums because of how long they last, but I really like how the John Pearse strings sound when they're first put on.
Rock Bottom Gear Reviews , Wow I would have swore it was rosewood from the depth of bass tones. Great news to know. I think your video has helped me to decide on a D-2018 instead of a D model. That D-2018 sounds a lot like a rosewood D-28 to me. Nice, very nice.
If you can’t afford a 1930s Martin’ or an exceptional Martin from the 40s-50s. Then These Guitars would fit the Bill’ for a lot less Money! So would a Collins’/Santa Cruz or a host of other Quality Martin Clone Copy’s. Great picking there👍🇺🇸
The recording mixer is a Soundcraft Ui24R and the microphones are a stereo matched pair of ART M-SIX small diaphragm condensers. Great mics for the low price tag!
Don’t think I’ve heard a better sounding Mahogany guitar. Outstanding 👏👍
Nor have I! It's definitely one fine instrument.
really good review. the playing to talking ratio is perfect!
Haha I'm not much of a talker.

I own a 1949 D18 and a early model D18 Golden Era. This is the best sounding guitar I've ever heard.
It's definitely the sweetest guitar I've ever had my hands on!
Boy would I like to play your '49 D18.
I have a 1944 D-18. This one would definitely give it a run.
they really captured lightning bin a bottle.. nothing beats an old pre war Martin.. i’m astonished by the sound
It's definitely one fine instrument! Thanks for watching!

Great playing. Pre-War sounds strong. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much! Thanks for watching!
More credit given for sampling a jason isbell song. Awesome
Haha. Thanks for watching!
That guitar sounds awesome!
Possibly the best sounding dreadnaught I'v ever heard...... Wow.....
Me too! I couldn't put it down!
With this guitar, a '59 D-18E, and a 1908 0-21 I played that had the best sound ever, I would be set for life.
That sounds like a mighty fine group of instruments! Thanks for watching!
@@rockbottomgearreviews6222 I was actually inspired to learn dreamsicle from this demo! Thanks!!
I think I need to sell all of my acoustics and maybe a few electrics to get one of these. Perfect dreadnaught sound for me.
It is definitely an excellent instrument! Thanks for watching!
Might push me over the edge to put my name on the waitlist.
It's definitely a fine instrument!
Now sure what the luthiers at Pre War are doing but I must admit, this Pre War D28 sounds awesome. The guitar has the "it".
This guitar is definitely amazing! Thanks for watching!
It's not a 28
@@el34glo59 why does it have a volute on the neck?

Granadillo, maybe?
This guitar is 100% mahogany back and sides. The herringbone is a nice touch for a mahogany guitar I'm my opinion.
what kind of strings you using on this guitar?? sounds great in drop D
John Pearse 700M medium Phosphor Bronze. Thanks for watching!
@@rockbottomgearreviews6222 thank you
Did you order the Jazz 60 with stock rounded bevels or did you specify right hand speed bevels?
Stock rounded bevels
@@rockbottomgearreviews6222 It has a great articulate sound, clear but with warmth and big low end/clarity clearer than a typical BC TP60/TAD60
It's definitely my favorite guitar pick!
wow Great tone and balance, great resonance..What strings and gauge were you using here and what flat pick and thickness?
Thanks for watching! John Pearse Medium Phosphor Bronze strings and a Blue Chip BC Jazz 60 pick.
wow JP? 700M? You like better than EJ17 or EXP17 or Martin Sp or Lifespan?
I usually use Elixir Phosphor Bronze mediums because of how long they last, but I really like how the John Pearse strings sound when they're first put on.
Do the JP last as long as EJ17? Are they as loud as Elixirs or EJ17? The tone here is great
Yeah, being uncoated strings they last about the same as the EJ17. I think they're also pretty well just as loud as both too.
Is this D-2018 a mahogany back and sides, or are back and sides rosewood? Outstanding guitar and you did the guitar justice!
Thanks! Yes it is mahogany back and sides.

Hi there, what is the distress level on this one? Cheers
It is Level 2. Thanks for watching!
@@rockbottomgearreviews6222 Thanks mate. I’ll watch this daily until mine gets built 👏🏻

@@rockbottomgearreviews6222 definitely!I couldn’t find link you made for a HD brazlian ,want to compare mohogany to brazlian side by side
Haven't had the opportunity to demo one yet, but I'd love to if I ever had the chance!
Strings used?
Sorry for the late reply, but they are John Pearse 700M medium Phosphor Bronze. Thanks for watching!
I want one!
Me too! This one belongs to my boss. He was kind enough to lend it to me for a night to do this video.
Rock Bottom Gear Reviews who sells these? Where can I buy one? And were you playing in Drop-D tuning?
I'm not exactly sure where you can get them, but yes there was some Drop-D tuning in there. Thanks for watching!
One more question if I may, what model/size pick were you using for this demonstration?
A Blue Chip BC 60 Jazz III style. I love Blue Chip Picks!
I want I need, now please.
It's an amazing instrument, that's for sure!
i love you slurs.
Yessir, she's sweet alright.
Absolutely!
Way too much talking.
