My STEREO WIRELESS Transmitter for Backing Tracks

  • In this video, I'm showing you how I have been using a stereo wireless transmitter to run my backing tracks live. Yes, this is silly and overkill, but I love not having cables attached to me, and this is how I've been doing it. The receiver will split the signal to left and right with a breakout cable, so it's been working very well for my backing tracks.

    Always great videos! I do something similar with Alto BT2 to Bluetooth audio to the mixer. Buy one, it's summed to mono, buy a pair, it's stereo. Removes all the need for adapters and short cables, and also means your source (iPad etc) is free of attachments.

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  Год назад +1

      Oh cool!! Thanks for sharing that. The Bluetooth works fine for you? You won’t have to worry about latency because everything will sync to whatever goes into your mixer. That’s pretty sweet! I might have to pick up a pair of those

    • @lewisllewellyn1263
      @lewisllewellyn1263 Год назад

      Connection has been fine but I'd keep a backup plan in a bag just in case. Latency not an issue because it's for clicks, backing or playback - everything else syncs to the Bluetooth audio. You could also put them straight into your EV speakers to bypass the mixer. They charge on USB. No fancy case though.

    My concern with going wireless for the backing tracks is the real possibility of the signal dropping out in the middle of a song. I like the idea of getting rid of cables or minimizing cables as much as possible, but I'm just not very confident in the reliability of the wireless devices yet.
    I'm glad to hear that you have been using it as much as you do and are having great results. It reassures me that it can be reliable and I may give it a try.

    I’ve used the Lekato stereo transmitter for backing tracks off an iPad and it worked great! Of course I made sure that was the only 2.5ghz I was using. 😂 The only slight problem I’ve run into (which turned out not to be the fault of the Lekato) was there was the slightest bleed of click running into the backing track. I checked my backing tracks to make sure I didn’t master them weird and listened through an interface to make sure the tracks were separated correctly when routed into different outputs, which they did with no bleed in the tracks channel. Going back to the iPad, I checked through multiple stereo break out cables as well as wired headphones and the bleed was there, but not when listening through wireless Bluetooth AirPods. When researching this on some forums, I saw some people saying that some older iPad and MacBook headphone-out jacks can have a little bit of cross talk between channels, which is lame. My iPad is a 2017 which doesn’t seem that old but I guess it is 😜 What was strange is, I never heard the track bleed into the click channel only click into the tracks channel. I ended up using a really low noise gate on the tracks channel on my mixer as it could only be heard barley when the track was on a part that was silence, so that was a quick fix that worked for the show. In the future I might end up using my HX Stomp as an interface to route those iPad channels through the lightning port and Stage Traxx into output 3/4 and use the Lekato to output through the HX Stomp send. Even though it really wasn’t noticeable in the end to the audience, it totally bothered me and I don’t want to have to put a noise gate on the track 😂 Any one else run into this problem?

    • @ScottUhlMusic
      @ScottUhlMusic  Год назад

      Yeah some people say there is some small cross talk with iPads. It barely barely there, so it’s not noticeable live when I do it. But glad to see someone else is doing this!

    • @Johnseeterlin

      @@ScottUhlMusic What is funny is I was mainly going to do it as a sound check solution. When playing with my smaller band, It’s usually a small bar type show with no sound person and a really crappy mixer, so I just plug my own mixer setup in and do it that way. So I got multiple wireless units just for myself so I can sound check in the audience while still running tracks, playing bass and doing some backup singing with the intention of hardwiring everything in for the actual show. Once I went to hardwire the iPad back into the mixer after soundcheck though, I realized the stereo breakout cable wasn’t long enough to reach the iPad where I needed it to be on stage. 😂 So, I just ended up keeping the wireless in for that and it worked great!

Sends the magnetic pickups (hum-buckers just fine), but nothing on the piezo side. It also has 13-pin MIDI output, so if there's a way to all of that wirelessly, that would be super cool. I think I have an interesting question (or a very stupid one): Is there a posibility to run track from different markers in DAW (for Midi to DMX and visuals) by 4 track cassette tape recorder (Fostex X28H) which is used for multiple backing tracks and click for drummer. It sounds complicated, I know, but why make things simple :D

      Please tell me you did not send them money. I say in all of my videos that I will never ask you for money. Never, ever. Never will. I have a video on this coming out tomorrow

    Yup completely unnecessary... for backing tracks because Bluetooth exists and if sound quality is an issue then use an ldac bluetooth.

      Definitely not necessary. I did try Bluetooth before and had problems, so I like this one. And I don’t believe Bluetooth can seaparate L and R into my mixer right?

    You are adding too many weak points of failure.

      Ehh… not really. This is “unnecessary” I agree. But this is the only “cheap” wireless I use. And like I mentioned, the cable is right by if I need it. I do agree that this is overkill, but it’s been working well… and I have a backup if I need to 👍
