Looks like you recently changed the stitch length lever to have two screw in adjustments, forward and reverse. Wasn’t the stitch length originally located on the end of the lever itself for both forward and reverse stitching. I love this machine.

At 5:20, where you are sewing 0.5 oz nylon.... Could you do the same with a straight stitch LS-1 machine or does it have to be a zig zag stitch? If so, what length of stitch is best for light fabrics?
Hi Keefe, Yes, you can use a straight stitch and sew lighter fabric (like .5oz nylon). The LS-1 is only a straight stitch machine, but it too would work with that lighter fabric. Typically the stitch length for lighter home sewing fabric is about 3mm or so.
I appreciate the response. I happen to own an LS-1, which is still a new machine. It handles medium and heavy fabric very well, but light fabric, not so well. I swapped out a size 10 or 12 needle (I no longer recall which one I was using), and used V30 bonded polyeurethane fabric, which I bought from your online store. After lowering pressure on the presser foot and dropping the upper tension as far as it could go, I can sew 1.9 oz nylon fabric well enough, but when I tried the same with a 1.3 oz nylon, the stitch wrinkles the fabric. As far as I can tell, 1.9 oz nylon is the lightest fabric the machine can handle. What am I missing?
Using a #10 or #12 needle with V-30 thread is perfect for a very light weight fabric. Now be sure to reduce the upper tension, almost to the point where you have no tension. Check the bobbin case to be sure you have some tension on the bobbin thread. Since the thread is so small you probably have no tension on the bobbin case. Reducing the upper tension should help with your sewing lighter fabrics. If this does not work send me some photos of the stitch in your light weight fabric application (both the top and bottom side). Send the photos to eric@sailrite.com

I am looking for something that can do satin stitch on fleece. Having great difficulty with a domestic sewing machine trying to do that. Is it possible with this machine?
Yes, you can set the stitch length to almost zero and the stitch width to about 5mm or less and sew a satin stitch on the LSZ-1. Sewing it in fleece should not be an issue. Let me know if you have more questions.

To sew slowly just push on the foot controller only slightly.

Yes, width can be adjusted from a Min./Max. 0mm to 5mm

The holes of the stiches do not match in reverse mode. Too bad.
That is easily solved using the included EZ Set™ Stitch Length Plate on the sewing machine. So you can get exacting forward and reverse stitching.
