    Wow you two! I'm not sure about all the chances you are taking. I'm sure the chill factor in that wind is enormous, and getting in a wreck up there would not be a good thing. It does look like you are having a good time though.

      I'm with you, Rob, us parents, we worry :)
      All that being said, these two explorers have been amazing to follow.
      Kudos Krista and William. And again, the drone work is super.

      You guys worry about getting your van broken into? Your Mac, drone and camera might be more than your van.

    I'm very curious about your van build, as far as the electric system and why you're having such troubles keeping your batteries warm enough to charge while not freezing yourselves. Do you folks not have a diesel heater fitted?
    It's encouraging to see you guys taking a T1N up into those conditions though. I've got a 2005 model and would love to make that trek someday myself.

      We have a diesel heater, which keeps the cabin, very warm, but the batteries are back under the bed in the garage, where there is not very much airflow so it gets very cold back there in the extreme conditions.

      @@AdventureOrBust Gotcha. I assume you have a wall/partition set up at the front edge of your bed? Perhaps consider adding some holes or slots into that to allow warm air to better flow back that way. Even a small fan mounted up there to push air rearward would help too.
      Maybe also consider getting some small heating pads that you affix to the sides of your batteries, wired up to thermostats so they kick on for a bit and then turn off when a target temp has been reached.
      Obviously none of that is going to happen on a long Arctic trip, hah.

      @ ya we have a wall, and I should have put more more ventilation. I think the battery heat pads would be the best solution

    I’m watching this with my family and they all keep asking why no chains on the car ?

    • @AdventureOrBust
      @AdventureOrBust 22 дня назад +2

      Because we have winter tires and we were driving 1000+km on the ice roads which would have destroyed multiple pairs of chains ⛓️‍💥
