Each player can only play/activate/set 1 card from their hand per turn. You can use the stuff you already have on the field with no limits though.
Thanks so much for this! There were only a few other videos on this topic, one being an informative but very dull tone and another just hamming up the event for teh memez. Happy to see this being covered in an enjoyable way!

have you done a video about how there was no fire attribute in yugioh on release with 3 vanillas that were clearly fire themed but given different attributes? i would be surprised if you didnt (i dont remember it if you did) cause its right up your alley

Yugioh being pricey is due to the fact it’s target player base are teens. Remember it’s “12 and up” in the OCG. And still is to this day. That’s a teen rating by Japan’s standards and games aimed at such demographic tend to be expensive. MTG was guilty of the same thing. It matters a lot.
Yugioh is not a “children’s card game” as many in America believed it to be. Konami wouldn’t have labeled every pack to say that it’s targeted age range is 12 and up, if that weren’t the case. They clearly did it so it can be consistent with the main target demographic of the manga. I mean, that’s blatantly obvious.
The OCG was intended by Konami to target players in their early to late teen years.
That’s why OCG tournaments have age restricted brackets.
Challenge (Junior high 12-15)
Regular (High school 15-18)
Expert (18 or older)
And given the games complex ruling (even for the time), it would make sense there.
Yugioh started as a parody to MTG, and then into it’s own game. And it all came from a manga which was published in Weekly Shonen Jump. A magazine confirmed by one of it’s chief-editors (Hiroyuki Nakano) to be for young teenage boys.
Konami basically tried to do what WOTC did with MTG. And they still are to this day. The only exception was Rush Duels and Konami officially stated this.
The game is poorly handled now, due to how the game’s current state is.
At least yugioh didn't sell power 9 proxies for $1000 😂. Only problem with yugioh is that it's too archetype heavy and you can't really make decks out of packs given the extra deck cards too. Would be nice to get all the protagonist/rival cards in a cube and pull packs with materials and other stuff, which battle pack didn't really do, though the all types rule was a nice idea too.

@lz9275 I am glad rainbow neos was cheap to get as a single as well as Golden rule and elemental hero neos with the crystal beasts structure deck (the dark ones were awful instantly dying given golden rule with ruby carbuncle got 4 special Simmons). But yeah you're screwed if you're trying to get kashtira or destiny heroes by packs, and tins just felt too random given so many different archetypes crammed in.
And yeah I forgot tcg upped rarities or did the short/super short print common bs.
