    I play SV OU and I play it well. I click buttons like nobody else, on the Scarlet & Violet Overused ladder., in competitive Gen 9 Pokemon Showdown.
    Game Freak just blew all other online game development schools out of the water with this incredible new 2022 release. You're gonna need to get a game design degree online, and FAST, if you want to make a better game than this. Not even the best strategy games android reddit could hold a candle to this breathtaking Next generation competitive Pokemon experience.
    Scream Tail is the Jigglypuff of our wildest dreams. It has been buffed with some higher statistics and the incredible ability, Protosynthesis. Gen 9 Competitive Pokemon wouldn't be the same without this powerful pink blob. He kinda looks like someone I met in one of my game design and development courses.
    Gen 9 Pokemon Showdown is one of the greatest online gaming sites in history. From Pikachu and Charizard, to Palafin and Roaring Moon, The new Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, have introduced a lot of new faces. Can I succeed in one of the best android games of all time? If so, I'm gonna get myself a Walmart bakery Pokemon cake to celebrate.
    Gholdengo is a Pokemon made of pure gold. He must have done some online business management courses to accumulate all that wealth. Or perhaps he might want to learn how to make money playing video games on RUclips. In any case, he's a powerful metagame force, with absolutely no interest in online game development schools.

      @@mystery5906 that's a nice set! Both Goodra forms are among my favorite Pokémon of all time!
      Ever since Goodra was introduced in gen6, one thing that slightly irritates me is that it cannot learn Giga Drain, despite Absorb being one of its earliest level up moves. Before life dew, the most reliable recovery was rest/hydration on rain teams, which was alright, but I personally just think if a mon gets Absorb at like lvl1 as one of the fundamental moves of the base form, then Giga Drain SHOULD be in the movepool. I mean, it gets Power Whip for Petes sake, so it could use a strong Grass special option.

    Hisuian Zoroark is notable to me because it's pretty much a hard counter to most Annihilape builds. It's got full immunity to both of its STABs, plus special attack high enough to break through Annihilape's bulk, plus Illusion to try to bait out Drain Punch and Rage Fist while it sets up.

    • @doomknightsepulchure
      @doomknightsepulchure Год назад +1

      Its so frail though. I could see it on stall teams that were ordinarily just food for annihilape. Being able to shut down the optimal ape set is really good if that's the difference between your team structure losing to ape vs not losing, but keep in mind that ape wasn't an overcentralizing force. Given that, I don't see anything but stall teams using zoro-h since its just too mediocre to spend an entire team slot countering one mon that isn't even mandatory on every team

    @speculyn5060 Год назад +12

    I think that Hisuian Decidueye would be great as an assault vest user. It has some decent special bulk and will mainly be used to counter special mons like Gholdengo, so I would assume that it’d be best to enhance its bulk. Plus, we already saw what a speed-raising move can do with Quaquaval, and it doesn’t seem too crazy on it with base 85 speed, let alone another mon with base 65. Only downside is its quadruple weakness to flying mons, so it may suffer against mons such as Pelipper or Corviknight.
    Edit: As a Gholdengo counter, this thing it great. 252+ Atk Decidueye-Hisui Triple Arrows vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Gholdengo: 306-360 (80.9 - 95.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO. This isn't the only good move it has though. Apparently, Hisuian Decidueye has access to sucker punch. It could even just run close combat for an OHKO, albeit nullifying its vest boost. I honestly think this mon might have a really good niche as a lategame punishing sweeper and special ward.

  • @Browlet540
    @Browlet540 Год назад +32

    Another thing about decidueye is that with terrestalization, it can not only change its otherwise poor defensive type into something better like ghost, steel; it is a trick room crit machine with scope lens, triple arrows, leaf blade, shadow claw, psycho cut maybe.

    • @umbriel706
      @umbriel706 Год назад +3

      @@longingsoul1 I personally believe the ability itself doesn’t really work against experienced players and needs either a buff or a tweak. They could try and chip anyways with a would be neutral hit and OHKO the poor thing with its paper thin defenses. That and base 105 speed with a glass cannon is kinda iffy, it’s not bad but you’re still going to be outsped by a lot of the metagame and lose an otherwise valued sweeper. Personally I believe it’ll probably have the niche of checking Annihilape but I doubt it’ll be full on OU material with those issues, it can’t live a neutral hit to save its life and I wouldn’t really see a reason (so far) to use it over Gholdengo and Pult thus far

    Also azelf gets a new move 70 base power move that also 100% raises its special attack, so that's probably big,
    also adding loaded dice to victory dance liligant would probably be cool, if we give it bullet seed, gets a free 100 base power move or 125 if lucky, but idk if wide lens is better on hustle. Qwilfish is better as eviolite suicide lead, but during showdown, I'll give it, intimidate, barb barrage stockpile rest and liquidation. Also, the 3 pixies (Azelf, Uxie, Mesprit) get a new move, Mystical Power - Psychic, Special, 70 BP 90% accuracy, +1 SpA for you. That might put them on the OU radar!

Zoroark is already strong due to its type (shits on Annihilape completely) but the move could also help it vs other phys checks, stuff like that

    One thing that bugs me about the meta is that, after alllll these years, we still don't have any Pokémon with an Ability to set trick room on entry. Heck, there's not even an item to extend it by 3 turns. I hope someday Trick Room gets a little buff

    • @kachebelka3416
      @kachebelka3416 Год назад +1

      I think that an ability like that would be really cool for Smogon, but it would honestly suck for VGC. Trick Room is already quite strong in doubles formats, so it would probably really hurt VGC. But if that weren’t a problem I would definitely agree, since trick room has trouble lasting long enough to make a difference in singles, because usually the best abusers of Trick Room don’t actually learn it and have to rely on someone else to set it. And thus you have to set it up with those mons, then spend a turn switching to the Pokémon you want to have actually abuse it.

    • @kachebelka3416
      @kachebelka3416 Год назад

      As far as making an item that could extend it, I’m not a hundred percent sure how powerful that would be. I’m pretty confident it would be useful, but I’m not sure if that might still be a bit too much for doubles

    • @hozkahilgarri3936
      @hozkahilgarri3936 Год назад

      @@kachebelka3416 those are both really valid points, and I can't make a strong case against either. I've had similar thoughts about whether any buff to Trick Room would be too insane for doubles. The one I feel might be the least absurd would be an extender item, since it takes up a slot, and it seems natural considering the extension items for weather and terrain (and screens, though they aren't as impactful), and there's already the item Room Service.
      I suppose the caveat is that while weather and terrain only heavily affect specific Pokemon and moves, Trick Room reversing the speed tiers is a pretty huge deal. Either way, I'd like to see these "what ifs" explored in some way, like maybe if Smogon CAP drafted up a Pokémon specifically with a Trick Room ability.

    • @hozkahilgarri3936
      @hozkahilgarri3936 Год назад

      Although... I should add that one has to bear in mind the matter of cancellation. Whilst weather and terrains can cancel each other, and also there's Cloud Nine, and even some niche ways to end terrain like Steel Roller, the only way to get rid of Trick Room is to wait it out. I suppose if it were buffed, it'd need an inverse "soft nerf" in the form of an attack or something that could promptly end trick room.

    • @kachebelka3416
      @kachebelka3416 Год назад +1

      @@hozkahilgarri3936 Yeah, that’s what kinda sucks about having to worry about balancing both doubles and singles. But like I said, I’m not sure how much having an extender item would affect the meta. It needs to hit that fine line where it is just powerful enough to make it a more viable strat in singles while not being busted in doubles. I have the thought that maybe they could do the ability thing, but just have the only mon that has it be very fast, thus slowing itself down with its own ability. That way in doubles it wouldn’t be absolutely busted, I’m not sure if that would even be useful in singles though.
      Another thing I thought about is if they brought that ability in, but still had it on a mon that could use it effectively, what would the counters be? It’d be interesting to see. I wonder if people would actually run a counter trick room so that they could then just cancel trick room out. Or maybe Room Service could become meta as well. It’s very interesting to think about how the meta would adapt around a Pokémon like this.

Team preview is always what kind of ruined the surprise element of Zoroark becuase you could anticipate it to well, but with two of them that cover each other weaknesses so well, playing the guessing game about which of three pokemon is actually out on the field (either of the Zs or the pokemon they are illusioned as) and getting it wrong could be fatal.

And since it's 4 times week to flying, and both of it's 2 types cant really do anything against flying types, the opponent would ofc use flying moves at it, but this would hopefully trigger a focus sash you give it, which means then you fire back with a ln itemless huste boosted (probably also victory dance boosted) acrobatics and do huge amounts of damage (hopefully💀)

    I can easily see H.Samurwott being a top tier mon in OU. It has so much going for it.
    While 90/80/60 isn't the most insane defenses, it's typing lets it resist the STABs of Gholdengo, Chi-Yu and Chien-Pao, which will make it useful in and of itself. It's bulk also is good enough to let it live a hit or two.
    85 speed is good enough to outrun most of not all defensive mons and would make for an excellent Choice Scarf user.
    Offensively is where it shines, 108/100 is actually really great when you realize pretty much every move it'll use will be getting a x1.5 boost from Sharpness.
    Ceaseless Edge will be one of the strongest attacks in the game. A 65bp move that not only gets STAB, the x1.5 boost from Sharpness AND most importantly a free layer of Spikes up is insane. It removes most if not all prediction as even if they send in a resist, you'll be getting up a spike on top of respectable chip damage, 90% of the time.
    The rest of its movepool is stellar. Aqua Cutter, Razor Shell, Sacred Sword, X-Scissor, and Air Slash all get the Sharpness boost. It gets both Aqua Jet and Sucker Punch for priority and even gets Knock Off, but you'll probably never run it to be honest, Ceaseless Edge is just that good and always hits as hard as Knock Off when they have an item. It also gets Swords Dance if you want to run a boosting set.
    I fully expect this to be running crazy on the ladder come release
    Samurott-Hisui @ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Sharpness
    Tera Type: Flying
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Jolly or Hasty Nature
    - Ceaseless Edge
    - Razor Shell / Aqua Cutter
    - Sacred Sword
    - X-Scissor / Air Slash
    Azumarill walls it, but even then you click Ceaseless Edge and get your free spike with a side of chip damage. Some Grass types like Breloom can be an issue, but wouldn't like to eat an Air Slash which even with no investment will hit hard enough because of Sharpness. Tera Flying for the resistances to Fighting, Bug and Grass and to potentially boost Air Slash's damage, but Ghost could also work, as could it's STABs. Hasty over Naive on the mixed set and the 4spdef are for the fact the current strongest attackers are special.
    Razor Shell over Aqua Cutter for slightly higher damage and the 50% chance for a defense drop, the 95% accuracy hurts it, but those defense drops will let it break through would be checks, especially later in the game after some spike and rocks damage. Sacred Sword is great coverage, and X-Scissor lets him hit Grass types with a hard, Sharpness boosted attack. 90% of the time, you'll probably just click Ceaseless Edge though.
