I just did a review of this as well and enjoy hearing your views on the deck. Folks at Artisan Tarot are so nice and their reproductions show a lot of love. Thanks, Simon!
Marseille decks ( I include the 1JJ Swiss under this umbrella) always have and always will be my favourite decks. I learnt Tarot with a Marseille deck and find pips much more conducive to tapping into my intuition. I often feel swayed by the illustrations on RWS types of decks, I struggle to see past what the artist wants me to see and sometimes it does not make sense with the reading as a whole (not sure I'm making my point in a clear manner here😅). Thank you for sharing this deck. I have ordered it prior to seeing your review and now I can't wait to receive it! Have a lovely day!
Omg I love Artisan Tarot. I have their Nicolas Conver deck and so in love. Honestly, I thought the Dodal was gonna be next but wow, this is gorgeous. Now my Christmas wishlist is gonna be modified 😂 great video Simon. Xoxo
I just watched your review of this stunning deck and I'm on my way over now to Artisan Tarot to buy myself a copy. Another "Simon made me do it." deck! Thank you as always for your work, and all the best to you in 2024.
This deck looks really nice, I do love the colours with that aubergine included in the cards which matches the beautiful bag. I especially like that Devil card 😍❤️
absolutely gorgeous deck... I love the expressions on the people's faces, all soo grumpy lol... great colours too. I'm missing a Marseille deck in my collection, could this be my first one???
I can't help but think that Vieville had a good sense of humor that he used liberally while making this deck. And, what an interesting take he had on The Star.
@@the_hermits_cave Me neither, but it's awesome! A tarot reader here on YT had posted it, so this is how I found out. I told her about your channel, so I hope she checks it out and joins 😁
It may be because it is based on the original historic copy, which may have had the Roman numerals transposed due to a printing error, but did you notice the incorrect numbering? Correct me if I am wrong, but (I’ll use regular numbers) shouldn’t Justice be 8 (they have it as 7)? Shouldn’t The Chariot be 7 (they have it as 8)? Shouldn’t Strength be 11 (they have it as 9)? Finally, shouldn’t The Hermit be 9 (they have it as 11)? It makes it more confusing, as this deck doesn’t have titles. The card’s titles are mostly obvious (not immediately for The Hermit, The Tower, The Star, and The Moon, in this version of the Marseilles). The Hanged Man may be upright as a nod to the original printing error, but I would invert it when using. Also, The Fool’s face is pinkish/flesh toned, while the other faces are white - I’m not sure if that is intentional or not. I would like it more if that and the numbering was corrected for the modern reader (vs. an historical collector). I have their 3 other decks (which I love), and I love the coloring of this one. I also love Artisan as a company. I think for the above reasons though, I may not get this one. They had difficult choices to make, but it doesn’t flow with my numerological brain, and I can’t unsee The Fool’s face! The coloring though, is awesome. I love the purples and the shading that they chose, and I love the facial expressions of the Vieville. Thanks for another great review! ☺️
Great observations! We are happy you like our decks. The Jacques Vieville deck has different numbering than a standard Tarot de Marseille deck. And interestingly, the Rider-Waite-Smith deck has different numbering than Tarot de Marseille decks. This just means that the cards need to be read a bit differently, and we think that is what makes this deck so much fun. Also, in the original Vieville deck, The Fool's face appears to be intentionally colored tan. So, we kept this coloring the same. The cards are also mirrored, you can view this in the text on some of the images like Temperance. We also decided to keep these characteristics as well. There is a poem on the Ace of Coins and Two of Cups that names the trump cards. You can read more about it on our blog on our site. 🙂
After I made the comment, I realized that The Fool in the historical Vieville also had a colored-in face, with the rest of the faces being white. Isn’t the numbering a printing error? I wouldn’t think they would be read differently, if the numbers were based on an error (numerology is a big thing for me as a reader). It’s beautiful, but I’m not a collector. The coloring is luscious. I think the mirroring is an interesting quirk in the deck, which I love, and glad you kept. I love Artisan Tarot’s business model. Your customer service is awesome, and you provide great resources on your website. I continue to follow your website, and I’m looking forward to see what comes next. Thanks for responding. ☺️💕

Love your review, what a beautiful deck really love the colours. 👌
The Devil is just amazing. I l-o-v-e it.
What a great feeling to have a new deck in hand and just enjoy it.
Nothing better! 😍
Yes! It's one of our favorite cards. We have something coming out soon that features The Devil. 😄
This is a beautiful deck! I adore the Pop's and that Devil card is everything ❤
Pips not Pop's...damn phone changed it 😂
Love that the bag matches the deck! So beautiful.
Everything has been so well thought out. 😍
We are happy you like our pouch. We love that the design matches as well.
Love this restoration! The coloration is so eye-pleasing, which is something I cannot say about any Marseille deck. Thank you for sharing🙏💙
Couldn’t agree more! 😍
It's quite a challenge to get the colors just right. We are glad you like it!
@@ArtisanTarot definitely on my wishlist😍

@@the_hermits_cave it is really lovely and I am not a big Marseille fan but this one I do like 🥰
Thank you 🙏🏽

Oh I would definitely say this one, if you don’t have a Marseilles 😉

I like the old tarot le tarot Marseillais is the best
Hey Simon, totally unrelated to the video, but did you know that your tarot collection is in a meme 😁 a 50 shades of grey meme at that lol
I did! I have no idea who started it though 😝

Big statement at the beginning. This IS a beautiful tarot deck though
It really is, thanks for watching, Jason
