    Can you use Tekla Structure for Analysis? Also what's the difference between Tekla structures and Tekla structural designer.

    • @TrimbleTeklaDave
      @TrimbleTeklaDave 4 года назад +3

      Hi Paul - Tekla Structures (this video) is for the detailing and fabrication of structures. Tekla Structural Designer is for analysis. The two programs allow you to transfer models back and forth, and you can also use analysis links in Tekla Structures to coordinate with other design programs as well.

    How do you make the Beam and Column Joint connection automatically?
    And how can I do to view the grid that without any column and base ?

    • @TrimbleTeklaDave
      @TrimbleTeklaDave 4 года назад +1

      In Tekla Structures the connections are always added after the main members. So you can add them one by one or use Autoconnection (15:55 in the video). I'm not sure what you mean in your second question, if you want to hid parts in a view (model or drawing) you can do so using filters.

      Firstly, I want to say thanks for your reply.
      Actually I am just learning this software by myself. My second question for first comment is that you click the View List and you choose something in Named View. In case, I don't have anything in Named View box. So, how can I solve this?
      By the way, how can I get components or profile to draw stair ? In my Tekla educational version don't have a lot.

      @@pyinyeinaung545 views can be created manually or from the grid. I recommend you at least take a look at some of the training available online - teklastructures.support.tekla.com/elearning/steel-detailers. As for the shapes, they are part of the environments you can download. On the campus download page (campus.tekla.com/download), you must click the link for 'additional environments' at the bottom to see them.

    Hi, the Stair layout *stair layout w landing tools are not available; how do we find those?

    • @TrimbleTeklaDave
      @TrimbleTeklaDave 4 года назад +1

      Hello, they are part of the US environment and included in the steel detailing model template. You can download the environment from download.tekla.com. I do not recall what version these were added, probably 2016 or 2017?

    • @christophercoutto
      @christophercoutto 4 года назад

      @@TrimbleTeklaDave I tried it with the American environment (metric) installed but can't find it in the custom macros/components...it does show up in the environment folder directory but not running in the app.
      On another note - it would be nice to know how to split up the model into phases by grid lines and how assembly numbering could be managed when changes happen in an already executed phase.

    • @TrimbleTeklaDave
      @TrimbleTeklaDave 4 года назад

      @@christophercoutto if you're not using the standard Model Template then it won't be preloaded in the model, but you can import it from the environment directory to any project (or save as a new model template). I have an older numbering video here: ruclips.net/video/QHDzMLRUjM8/видео.html but will keep your suggestion in mind to include some phasing information.

    Why have yee not got 4 icons for isometric views and the 6 icons for top/bottom/left/right/front and back like AutoCAD. Also icons for the manipulation of the UCS would help speed things up. Not that used to Tekla, maybe I’m wrong. Find Advance Steel easier to learn. Majority of tools seem to be hidden in unnecessary dialogue box’s/windows

    • @TrimbleTeklaDave

      I've seen the request for the 'view cube' before, but in 13 years of using Tekla, I've never had a need for it. I think our Structural Designer has one, so maybe someday we will have one in Tekla Structures as well. For any command you use a lot, you can create a custom ribbon command or hotkey (I have custom workplane hotkeys, for example). Tekla is a very different program from AutoCAD/AS so if you are familiar with that platform it does require a different way of doing things. Like any new skill, this can be tough at first, but in the same way you learn and get better with practice.
