I've camped on Rock Island since I was 3, almost every year! We've missed the last three since we have small children. Thank you for taking me with you this year. Such a joy to see a place I love so much through someone else's lens.
This is completely out of my wheelhouse - but I admire your adventurous spirit!
I have followed you for many years! It’s so nice and refreshing to see this side of you. I love all sides of you I’ve seen but it’s so nice to see your adventures. Thank you for sharing with us.
Loving your solo trips and living my dreams through you. Thankyou. One thought for your sleeping bag, is to mount it outside your pack along with your tent, then you'll have gross of room for food and a little extra clothing etc.
The chicken tastes like chicken 🤣 That made me laugh out loud! Awesome adventure 👍
Yay! There is more tent camping adventures 🙂
Oh yes ☺️
Totally here for the camping content!
I have been following your stories for several years and I can see how you have changed. A life lesson I want to share with you is to be mentally prepared to expect anything from anybody. Only God will always have your back. Once I realized that, I was able to be around people, always expecting nothing, but what they would be able to share at the moment, but not isolating myself. The feeling of emptiness can only be filled with the love of the Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you, you are a brave woman.
From: Somebody who has been there.
❤️❤️❤️
I’m 30, married for 6 years with a toddler and this sparked some inspiration in me for solo traveling. Seems like such a fun, healthy thing to do for yourself and your mind, if you’re single or not. Thank you 🥺
Thank you for sharing your prep. My friend and I are in the same situation; it's been 25-30 years since we've done any serious backpacking and camping and we are heading up to Door County for a test. I just ordered the KYTE 38, thinking it would be fine for 2-4 days of backpacking but after seeing your bag, I'm getting concerned! I'm investing in a new sleeping bag, so hopefully its a little smaller when compressed. This should be interesting-lol!
You are brave going camping alone. I would be too scared. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
Another great video….Loved it!!
A pixie haircut would be perfect for your new outdoorsy lifestyle. So easy and carefree.
So awesome! Thanks for sharing your adventures! 💕
Hey there, Jen! Love seeing you out on your own adventures. 💕 I've fit hundreds of packs over the years and we suggest shoving your sleeping bag into the bottom of your pack sans-compression sack. Maybe try that out at home and see how things fit. Good luck!
Good tip. It will fill your pack better if you just shove it down at the bottom
I have so much I want to say to you, but don’t have the room to say it all. You remind me so much of myself. You’re such a strong woman and I admire you. Best wishes and thank you for sharing .
Mother Nature at her best…M❤️M of 5
Another fabulous video , the camp food in bags is incredible when you think about it . I have had some yummy meals . Such a clever concept . X
Wow, you are so brave. I don’t think I could have Stuck it out ...Good going Jen..You deserve a pat on the back..Love your videos, thanks for taking us along...
Jen,
I will scared by cemetery 😶🌫️😶🌫️ ha ha for sure I can’t sleep …what beautiful trip
Wow, you are so brave. Glad you had a great time
Love these videos. You are so confident and brave. It's wonderful seeing you so happy. Thank you for taking us along!!!
In awe of you as usual, and realizing more what a gift you have of appreciating and embracing nature and all that is around you. Do you realize how so many of us rush through our days, our lives and never take our surroundings in with this kind of appreciation. Goals!
Will you be doing a Thanksgiving prep this year or you don't do those videos any more?
Do you ever plan to go to places like Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce Canyon etc?
Hi Jen 🙂 you are making me want to step out of my comfort zone & try new things 🤗 love watching these trips, thank you! 😊🧡
I LOVE that your oat matcha latte dreams were realized. 😅
I read this book a couple of years ago about an English man who travels in a flimsy tent around Germany. I think you might enjoy it, “Tents and Tent Stability: A Month-Long Camping Adventure in Germany - In a Rather Dodgy Tent! “ I thought the name was cool and a play on Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility. Another great video Jen, well done.
Oh girly the ax scene was everything you got me 😂
i love the song you picked for this video
Dear Jen, you have captured some beautiful shots of your travels. I hope you can create some beautiful large photos for your home. 📸📷 Thanks again for sharing🌬⛺️⛺️.
loving your videos extra extra lately!
I’m so happy you do ❤️
You are so adventurous. I've never done anything like this. BTW, those little pouch meals looked really good!
Cannot you attach your tent and sleeping bag on the outside of the backpack? Just a thought, I am no backpacking expert!
That's how I used to do it when I was younger and would go on two-week backpacking trips. But my sleeping bag was heavier/bulkier twenty years ago :) I think it's great to test configurations out during shorter trips, like Jen has done.
Yes, absolutely. I did this with my tent on my backpacking adventure. Check back next week!
Love this content
Looks heavenly! I love your intros!!!! So sweet!
Is there any way to attach your sleeping bag to the outside of your bag? I’ve seen people strap them on the front.. back.. idk which it is lol, but the outside of the bag.
You can also pack the backpack as you need (except the sleeping bag of course) close the top, lay the backpack on top vertically and use the backpack "hood" (the brain?) to secure it into place. The hoods straps can be extended quite a bit in the front and back - extend them to how long you need them to be to cover the sleeping back, snap the closures and then fasten the straps back down a bit.
So nice video my friend
The woman who looks beautiful in her sleep is the real beauty.
I love our Big Agnes tent so much, happy to see that is what you're using! Also, its such a journey when it comes to gear. The more you do it the more you learn about what you need, what you don't need, and ways to swap things for better things. All of that depends on length of stay, type of adventure etc. Its fun to look back on too. Enjoy!
Jen in order to save space, could you leave the sleeping pad and only sleep in the sleeping bag. And could you use a nice thick stick as a walking stick? Just some ideas, in case it could be helpful to you. I love sharing in your adventures and especially love to see the foods you make and what you pack. :-) Old subscriber here! :-) Bless you!
As a former REI employee, you never want to skip out on bringing your sleeping pad. It's a crucial part of your sleep system and you want to create a barrier between you and the ground. In terms of hiking poles, it's important to use lightweight, adjustable poles as they are far less cumbersome than a stick. Love seeing people getting out there!
Jen do you watch any thru-hiker vlogs? I highly recommend homemade wanderlust. Girl can pack a bag and her vlogs are so amazing.
Agree! Dixie/Homemade Wanderlust is a great resource for any level backpacker!
Have you thought about a down sleeping bag? Most of the time those compress more than the synthetic fill ones. I haven't been backpacking in several years, but that is what we used when we used to go. The only thing is you have to make sure that they don't get wet or they won't be as warm.
Excited to see how backpacking goes! I have an Alaskan backpacking trip on my bucket list that includes part of the old gold rush trails! But I'm not experienced enough for it yet.
Hi Jenn!! I've been following you for years and although I will sadly miss the thanksgiving prep videos or Christmas videos, I completely understand that there's always a new season and a wind of change and I support you 100%
Jen, you are my fantasy-self. I can barely make my bed.
What a beautiful content Jen ❤️
❤️☺️
Awesome video Jen!!! I am just loving these videos so inspiring. Good for you!!!! You must be so proof yourself going so far out of ur comfort zone. Would you do this type of camping again? I am really sad winter is coming and these types of videos aren’t going to be around
Love these videos and how truly joyous you look. How about one of the roll up compression bags for your sleeping bag to free up more room for food.
It was in a compression sack 😬 I realized later it doesn’t compress smaller because it is synthetic, not down.
You are visiting one of my favorite places
I can’t wait to explore more!
LOVE 💕
Place looks awesome! Next to the grave yard eeeeek. I need to go there, just to do hike 😍
It’s a lovely day trip for sure
So many of my friends even my aunt love to go up there but I’ve never ventured that way. I’m once again interested and inspired to go because of these vids.🙌🏽. I love these and that you are trying new things, fearlessly. New camping items, expanding your camping toolkit. I love that the agendas stay open with just some key items you intend to do. So freeing!❤️
It’s very freeing! Would have made me so anxious 5-10 years ago not to have detailed plans. Now I am embracing it ☺️
Jenn they have tents that attach to the back of your van, just a thought when you bring your little ones with you !! Always enjoy all of your videos !! ❤️❤️
Where did you find the powdered oatmilk? I can only find it in containers like Oatley has and that is too much for me as it goes bad before I can use it all.
This is the one I bought (affiliate link fyi) amzn.to/3Cn4gzL
😊❤

What an inspiration you are Jenn! Thanks for the great content!
Love you Jen. You are an inspirational fellow mama
I love watching your adventures. I do have an unrelated question. Please believe that this is honest curiousity, not an attack. Why are you no longer plant based? I remember when you cried about the videos you could not unsee. I understood that completely, as I am vegan. I am curious what changed. There is a huge vegan community on Instagram, if you feel alone. Recipes, support, etc. 🌱
it can not be 12 miles between each site wow. Your braver than me I would never do it alone.
Jen, have you thought about becoming a yoga teacher? I thought of this when I saw a clip in one of your videos of you doing meditation and yoga. I can imagine you'd be amazing at it.
You’re very kind 🧘♀️ I’m not actively pursuing that right now but who knows what the future may hold 😌
Are there bathrooms nearby? I'm so not a hiker or camper.
You need a more compressible sleeping bag.keep looking they have them
maybe if there's some way to strap the sleeping bag to the outside of your backpack you would have a lot more space inside
Try hiking the ice age trail!
Do you think you could ever get your mom to camp with you? ;) Do you have any plans to adventure with her?
It’s not safe to camp right under trees if it’s storming because a tree could fall on you. So a clearing is actually better for camping during a storm.
Good point!
The sleeping pad is a want not a need so if you leave that at home it would give you a lot of room in you bag.
