Sorry to hear that Ray has passed away, an excellent guitarist.

I first saw Ray as the guitarist in the Ian Gillan Band in 1977 - great video! Phil :)

One of the 3 Purple Singers.
Deep Purple ran from 68 to 76 in their stint

The Gillan Band didn't get the recognition it deserves. At least in the States.

Look I love all Gillans stuff.
But what they were doing, not really Child in Time, but the subsequent 2 albums..Yes there was Gillans name as a selling point from the record company's point of view..but historically Disco was peaking in the US..and you cant make people buy into (for me awesome!) some jazz funk rocker dudes just like that..
I love IGB..I saw Gillan I think 5 times across their short history, and for me it's his best work...76 to 82..

Can just picture Ian on the street in a bathrobe with broom and dustpan in hand singing Strange Kind of Woman sweeping up broken glass😂

Clear Air Turbulence is my favorite Ian Gillan Band album. I never took John G. as a wildman, lol.
