Thanks for clarifying the White Castle history. Most people don't believe me when I tell them it started in Wichita, KS especially since currently there isn't one located there.

And it sucks. All I can get here is the frozen White Castle burgers.

I wonder how we lobby for White Castle to have a location in Wichita? Anytime I visit a state where there is one, I eat there. Come on! It was started , and founded here!

Needs to be profitable. People only go for nostalgia and that’s not enough costumers to make a store profit.

Nice research, guys! Well done. The history of White Castle has always been cloudy at best and yes, it is a crying shame there is not one here in Wichita.

Enjoyed this thoroughly, thank you, and I live in a state where we have plenty of Whataburger but no White Castle. Regarding the plaque at 2:36: Looks to me, judging by a current Google Maps street view, that the bank has moved out. I'm curious as to where the plaque is/was located, as I'll be in Wichita next week and will go take a peek if it's there.

Oh I didn't know the bank closed! The plaque was located in the bank lobby. Not sure if it's visible from a window. I'll be by there today. I'll go check it out and report back!

I went and took a look and the plaque is still there even though the bank is now closed. If you park just north of the bank and look just to the right of the doors you can see it on a wall inside the bank. I hope they leave it there!

Strangely, White Castle pulled out of the state of Kansas and all of western Missouri, not once, but twice.

Great video! One thing I noticed--you state that #4 was the first store with Ingram and Anderson but at 2:57 store #3 has both their names on the building...

Very astute of you, Steve. This video is very accurate and well researched, but I noticed this too; when he shows this #3 Castle (at 2:57, 5:30, & 6:10), it is actually the Omaha WC #3, which just proves what he says later about how confusing the numbering system was. The Kansas City #3 is shown at :40. The actual Wichita #3 can be found at wichitaphotos.org, search for White Castle and it’s the first photo, in front of the bus terminal, school of dance, and REO sign.

Do you know the address to the one in Downtown Kansas City? I'd like to go by and see if the building is still there in 2023.
