I went to a plastic surgeon for a consult on a blepharoplasty. I've had eyebags since childhood and they've started to get lax with time. He told me I had no fat under my eyes and had bone loss (at 36? Very minimal bone loss between 30-menopause is normal but nothing anyone would really notice) which was causing the appearance of bags so I would need implants. I look nothing like people with tear trough deformities (not sunken in at all) plus the potential issues with implants did not appeal to me. I went to a very well-respected and highly rated oculoplastic surgeon with a good educational background (and several awards and honors). After evaluating he told me I was a good candidate for blepharoplasty. I let him know what the plastic surgeon said and he shook his head. He said I absolutely do NOT have bone loss and that I do have fat pads under my eyes. He said I have good bone structure and good facial volume. He also said tear trough implants are outdated and most surgeons won't use them today. I looked into it and saw the company that makes the tear implant trains surgeons. I wonder if they also pay them to promote their product...
