His past mistakes caused pain and suffering in the village because of the vengeance and anger of his former best friend. NOWHERE was Miyagi "protected" from anything. His vulnerability was shown in his decision making. Why would a Japanese *master* of the purest-form of Karate struggle against people that teach a flawed-version of the art that focuses on anger, aggression, and violence? Clearly you have ZERO understanding of how true martial-arts work. Not only that, this was Daniel's story. Not Miyagi's. Daniel was the one that had to struggle in fights because he is someone that just got started in Karate nearly as an adult fighting against people that had trained their entire lives. If anyone was "protected" around here it was Daniel. Not very realistic for someone as clumsy and awkward as Daniel to get so good at Karate so fast that he could hold his own in a real-fight against someone like Chozen who trained in the same style he did since he was a child, but it's a movie so who cares as long as it's entertaining? Miyagi was always calm in his fights while everyone else were either too aggressive or too cocky. It's easy to best people like that because they lack focus and that is the central theme in this entire series from movies to streaming series. Yoda only "struggled" against one person 6 Star Wars films he appeared in, and that was Palpatine who was the most powerful Sith in the entire run. Even that fight in ROTS he didn't really struggle. He took the best shots the powerful Emperor had and turned it right back at him. It was only one little slip-up that allowed Palpatine to escape.

Mr. Miyagi is right. At the 3:45 mark he tells Daniel to choose his own way when it comes to karate. In life, you need to find your own way of things. Even in Forrest Gump, his mom Sally Field tells Tom Hanks you have to figure out your own destiny. People need to find what is right for them in life in all scenarios.
All of Cobra Kai was about Daniel not learning that lesson. He held up Mr. Miyagi on such a high pedestal, that in his heart…he made Mr. Miyagi a god. He never found his own way. Instead he modeled his life after Miyagi and it backfired horribly (watch Cobra Kai Season Six Part Two until the end to see exactly what I mean).

To be fair, Daniel already remembered this lesson at the end of Season 4 where he decided to team up with Johnny and have Miyagi-Fang instead of just Miyagi -Do. Even now, the dojo is the "new" Miyagi-Do where there is some offense also incorporated. To be fair, in real life if you have a very good mentor, it is easy to want to follow your mentor's ways and be just like him/her. Having "No mercy" is very dark and disastrous just like what happened to Kwon at the end of Season 6 part 2. There are some times when you should show "no mercy" to an opponent because if you do your enemy will kill you. Just like the showdown between Chozen and Silver at the end of Season 5.
Miyagui was Daniel's father. The last scene is the final lesson, he was freaking out on fear and miyagui was there to hold him and take him back, and he said: "daniel san your best karate is inside you". Wish my father would have done that.
Maybe he did , maybe he didn't , no matter. What matters now is what you do with that . Maybe help someone else who needs to hear it. Maybe that's the lesson. You help someone who hasn't heard it either .

I love Mr miyagi I know it was just a movie and he was just playing a character but to me mr miyagi is real because so much of his advice is real you can actually apply it in your life. Been watching karate kid since I was very young I’m 29 now and I still think about some of the quotes and life lessons he gave. That's how you keep his spirit alive. His teaching will last forever by doing that. Noriyuki Pat Morita gave us so many lessons from these movies . The writers in Cobra Kai, pander to Miyagi Do so much. Fans act like size matters with Kim Da Eun, but it's ok for Miyagi to beat so many top level young guys in their prime. Miyagi Do is the most overrated style of fighting I have ever seen. They should have called Cobra Kai, Miyagi Do because Cobra Kai are always made look weak and like the bad guys, when Miyagi Do aren't any better, awful writing in Cobra Kai.
