Awesome and extremely helpful video. Thanks for uploading! I noticed that since the usb audio capability there can be a feedback noise, but you can disable usb charging in the settings and it will get rid of the hum.
I did have one several years ago and I sold it because I had no time to use it. I just bought a new a few days ago. It still a great machine. I sync it with an OP-Z. Combo is great and easy to setup.
@@alexoi87 No. I think what TE did with the OP-1 was great. The OP-Z is really nice too and I think competitive in terms of price and features. The circuit tracks is less expensive but has a lot less features than the OP-Z. I don’t understand the OP-1 field. It’s basically the same as an op-1. Just one new synth, one new effect. Only 256 mb internal memory!! That’s clearly not an improvement in 2022. It’s ridiculous.
@@ChristopheTornieri well, the Field is also 32bit quality audio with full stereo throughout all engines and sampling, along with multiple Tape Types and Recordings. That's a big deal for many.
Thanks for showing such a useful workflow. Can you please show the detailed control surface set-up i.e. input and output ports and further the Midi channel in your track setting. I am not getting the EXT message on my OP-1 and also if I record something I cannot hear any sound after I play the recording. Sorry for these questions; I'm still a newbie with OP-1 and Logic.
actually from your method i was able to get the EXT message to pop up but I am still not getting any sound out after I play a recording... did you have any solutions to that?
Thanks! Firstly, where did you get your big knobs from? Secondly, following everything you're doing, Logic Pro and OP1 do not sync up with the MIDI clock. Set the destination & clock etc in Logic, changed tempo mode to 'Sync' but when I hit play in Logic, the OP1 tempo stays put and doesn't change to the Logic tempo. Bummer. Any ideas??
Love this channel! This is really helping me on my synth journey. I am looking to go from only soft synths to stepping into getting hardware and something like the op1 seems great because its portable. Can you plug an external 61 keyboard into it to have full range when at my desktop area? Also just wish the tape recorder allowed for 16 tracks. Do I wait for the next one to eventually support that or pull the trigger on this? Its a big investment for me. Or maybe just buy a volca and mess around with?
Brilliant video, can you trigger vst’s/external synths via a daw using the op-1’s internal sequencers - whilst the op-1 is being clocked from a computer ? Thanks in advance
I figured out most of these except the last bit. Can you please share your control surface settings and midi settings in Logic in more details. I cannot apply the OP-1 master effects to what I have recorded in Logic. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have just spent days in figuring this out and it's really frustrating!!
Thanks for the great video, im new to op1 but I just updated to firmware #245 and my logic is up to date but still whenever I go into midi section to tick the clock, it gives me “op1” and not “op1 midi device” such as seen in the video, and therefore when I press play on logic no tempo is sent to op1 and no “ext” is shown on op1.. any ready why? Thanks guys
I was able to have the clock sync work before updating to #245, thought I wasn't able to use the OP1 as an input/output (hence why I updated). Not I've run into the same problem where "ext" is not shown HOWEVER, it does give me "op1 midi device," so I'm not sure if that's part of the issue
any ideas on no sound in audio track but can hear it after recording. its muted during recording but is picking up notes I'm playing just can't hear them until after the fact?!
Can you please clarify what you need to do so that op1 doesn’t just start playing but waits until Rec in daw is on. Mine Plays when I hit the keys on op1 and it doesn’t wait for daw to start recording. Thanks
unfortunately I wasn't able to sync my op1 with logic even though I've downloaded the latest firmware update. When I try to record it as a software instrument I can't use the op1 sounds and when go for audio it acts like a microphone and gets all the voice around. Any help?
I am being able to have the audio output and use as an audio interface, but the tempo sync and the rec/play/loop features are not working for me, is there anything else I must do? Thanks!
I discovered the issue. I was plugging the OP-1 USB into a hub, when I plugged it directly, in my MacBook using the Apple adapter, it worked. I have no idea why.
@@rafbass I figured it out. Got to settings - midi - general and click Reset all MIDI drivers. This resolved the issue for me and EXT now shows up and everything is working perfectly.
when I try this, every time I try to record a new sound from the op-1 into the next audio track, it just changes the sound of that first software plugging track, so it'll go from that first tracking playing the drums I just played in from the op-1, to not that first track playing whatever synth I change the op-1 to, and thats after I switch to the new audio track and arm it... pretty frustrating It looks like this would be a fun new and powerful way of using it, just can't get it to work.
The OP-1 always (always!) gives back more than I put in. Years and years later it's still going.
Agree with Jack best thing I've ever bought
Just got the OP-1 for 1 week and it's pretty amazing
Great workflow tips! I will try this on my OP-1 👍

Very helpfull video. I spend 8 hours whith different Audio-issues before I see your work. Thank you very much.
Thanks so much for this. Great video. Keep em coming!
Great video, I always wanted a method to send tracks directly into Logi Pro and this does it so effortlessly.
Oh that is pretty sick. Thankyou

I was looking for “bought and sold the OP-1 twice” in your poll. 😂
Awesome explanation. Many Thanks!!
Don't know whats going on, but great stuff as always Jack 👍
Great tutorial, would love to see more OP-1 videos!!!
Same here! Knew about the new added functionality but hadn't thought to use it quite this way, this was pretty awesome
Jack, have you combined the OP-1 with Volcas in a live type setup?
Listening to this while routing my laptop audio through the OP1 to my Monkey Banana studio monitors.
same vidz with ableton would be awesome great content !
Agreed! Feel like OP-1 loops would work with Scenes really nicely

Can it use as well with ableton?

hi,dude! whats that black’s circle one on the knobs?
More videos on op1 pleeeaseee
