its funny how everything is dedicated to Monty and Blitz, when we also have the warcrime powerhouse fuze. Most counters require utility and fuze anihilates everything + he can safely watch you suffer. Before ppl call fuze a bad operator, i want to remind you, that i consistently reach high dia with him and also have a good kpm. The general shield rework made him an absolute beast with a shield, since u can now take mapcontrol and reach places more easily.

Love the new vid, the most satisfying blitz finka rush counter i had was on villa (bomb site aviator) and they were pushing landing from statue door. We had a Melusi Banshee in the middle of landing right so it had to be pushed by the Blitz but couldnt be shot by the Finka in the statue door. Melusi was hiding behind the white pillars as bait( easy to see for the Blitz but he couldnt ads bc bomb site door) while i was on Echo and one of my drones was also in landing. As soon as the Blitz entered the Bansheefield, he got a bash from the drone and Melusi swung him close and killed him. The Finka was keen to refrag, got the second drone bash and i swung her from avi door whilst she was focused ob the Melusi, easy round win for us.
My most frustration with shields is that meleeing shields is broken. When you melee blitz first, on your screen you can see that his shield went to the side and you think that you can shoot him, but for blitz you did nothing and he can easily melee you instead
@@ethan7376 yeah the emps do suck a bit, but if you play smart you could just play around the emp (as in waiting for both emps to be used) and you can basically hold them off the whole game
Something I’ve learned works really well against shields in a 1v1 is sitting right next to a doorway and meleeing the shield right as he sprints through the door. It often catches them off guard, and by the time they react, they have 57 bullets in their head.
One of my fondest memories from this season has been a game where I was 1 vs a Monty, and this fucker was sitting waiting for me to defuse I was playing tachanka
Countered Blitz by hearing him coming and placing a Mute Jammer down. He tries to flash in the radius, which gets jammed, delaying his melee and allowing to me knock back his shield and kill him. Happened very quick. Following this, the other day I used a Bulletproof Cam EMP on a Blitz pushing my friend, allowing him to kill Blitz.

I’m currently creating a master guide to siege showing all mechanics of everything in Siege, down to the last detail, with unbiased writings of tactics with gadgets etc. Taking it’s time lol. Following on from your Oryx clip, you can Dash into the wall on the door at an angle, and Oryx will continue, sliding through the door just like how Candelas do, essentially “pre-firing” a Remah Dash. Works well against non-shield operators who are most likely already aiming

He activated the Razorbloom, cut off by the barbs and as he tried to escape, I suppressed his shield to stop him running lol.
I feel like a simple way to make shields less oppressive in 1v1s would be to just revert to the old bash animation that exposes them. Right now when they melee, there is next to no opening in their defense. Another easy change would be to cause Elas mines to be able to stop sprinting again, or force Montagne to drop his full shield. As it stands Ela isn't really a trap operator, her mines work better when used like flashbangs.
The thing that you can do with every operator is run away to the cloasest stairs and jump of them if shield player decides to stop after you you can knife them or punch a shield and just shot them if they decides not to follow you congrats you just escaped.The seconda thing is tuning away to the cloasest Doors and waiting behind the corner a sec or two for them to come and as they step in punch the shield and shot it's especialy good against blits becouse he will have no timer to flash you.Keep in mind that while tuning away you should always have the shortest linę of sight between you and shield op becouse if you run away in a streight holway or a big room they usuwały pull a gun out and shot you in the back.Anyway bery nice break down video
It’s kind of a last-ditch strategy but one of the current meta ways that Brazilian pros counter Monty is if you have no escape you prone and spray the Monty’s feet when he gets within melee distance
The other strat that Spoit and Fett just figured out is that Monty has a short window when he unextends where he can’t get punched, but if you wait half a second then punch him you can knock his shield to the side before he has time to get a melee off on you
Interesting timing as yesterday it was 4-4 and I was in a 1v5. Got it down to a 1v1 which was a Monty I didn’t know about. He rushed me as I got the previous kill and immediately meleed me. Had I known I would’ve played differently, but with these tips I now know how to defend myself anyhow
My biggest issue with shields right now is how much of me and my teams attention and strategy has to go into handling a shield while needing to simultaneously handle 4 other attacker threats. If the other team starts running one, they have a full round before you can make operator adaptions to counter. Then once you do attack has drone phase to identify that and repick to run any combination of twitch / brava and flores, now any util counters you thought up are gone or used against you. Now I’m stuck running site Oryx like a jackass instead of running any actual utility or applying roam pressure. Tbh I’d like to see at least monty loose the ability to Melee. If a shield can get that close without me being able to damage, the same should be the case for the shield. Opens up opportunities to other buffs you could do, let shields coolaid man through soft walls, barricades and castle barricades. Give monty the ability to put that shit down (not in doorways) like an indestructible Osa shield and plant on it or fight around it with his pistol. Add distance to blitzes flash. Give them machine pistols. End my agony.
Actually the most sane take here including the video and the comment section , just increase the speed at which shield suppression takes place for example when the shield takes 100 HP of damage via bullets or explosives and the shield player should be unable to sprint for 7 seconds giving defenders the agency to fight back.
My most creative method to counter shields is probably taking frost, setup a trap behind a vault (deployable shield, window, vault rotation) and lay down next to it. If they decide to vault over, they either shoot you, or they shoot the frost trap... This sometimes works on some rage hacker too, because most of the time they kill you but have 0 time to shoot the trap and get caught, a teammate needs to finish the kill though.
I definitely agree that knowing how to counter a playstyle is a great way of getting better at that playstyle. The reverse is also true. I once saw a blitz outside on the other side of a window. He already wasted his flash, so I just vaulted into him, tanked one bash, ran around him and knifed him. I knew I could do this, because a shield bash doesn't stun when the victim is an animation >:)

One thing about tubarao is that his freeze not only slows shield but on blitz especially he can not use his flashsince tubarao disables all gadgets in his freeze
They got me to play oryx and I genuinely love playing him now. Shotgun pistol for rotates, lesions SMG and can easily disengage. Also usually gets a free kill on a shield rusher.
me and my friend usually use a combo with clash or melusi or lesion as it can slow them down along with either goyo canister if its near them or use tachanka my fav is clash and tachanka as u can hide behind the sheild and shoot fire balls
Most creative (and most likely most lucky) way I countered was by running around a corner with a Blitz running after me for a melee kill (too close but not enough to melee me), and right after I made the turn, I turned and went back where I came from, timed a melee to hit the shield as soon as I went through the doorway and started shooting. I guess Blitz was expecting me to try and run somewhere safe, so they didn't expect to run back right away. I did also melee around head level to try and catch them in case they went around the doorway ADSing but I don't play this game enough to know if that'd just stagger him or actually hit his head and get the kill. Kind of like trickstabbing in TF2
My favorite way to counter shield players only works on monty. Basically, what I do is stay at range (because shields will smash at close range) and pull cams. Then I immediately drop cams again.
Knife the sheild as they're pushing you and spray. The knife will knock the shield sideways, revealing their head. You have to knife to the side of the shield and lean the other way whilst you're spraying to be able to get a shot off; otherwise, you'll just shoot the sheild.
I’ve been actually really having a lot of fun with oryx. Use your first two charges for rotations save your team some utility and time set up headholes and barbed then wait with best smg on defense
Great video- I don’t think shields are OP because of all the points presented. It’s a defender sided game, and the defense has had some big time ops added recently on top of it. Attack has desperately needed something to dull the defense’s edge, and I think this should be it. The final point is the kicker: stop lone wolfing. I’ve seen 3 shield rushes get dismantled just because my teammates and I played off each other. I don’t think they should get nerfed next season because it forces us to make teamwork plays- which I believe is the whole point of Siege to begin with.
Counter idea: Throw and leave a nitro on the ground between the shielder and yourself, forcing them to aim and shoot it if they want to close the distance. People sometimes throw a nitro above a doorway, but attackers often sprint outside the door to bait a premature boom. A floor nitro is more exposed, but there’s no obstacle to protect the shielder, putting them in an awkward situation. You could just throw it like the normal “grenade,” but better shielders knows to aim at overzealous defenders who throw them and panic spam that detonate key. Other than that, shielders without sprint are neutered. I’d say the ACSG-12, the drum slug shotty, is good for spraying a shield to suppress (I think you need to deal like 120 dmg to stop their sprint) while not draining much of its magazine. Maestro’s LMG is also good for that, but he’s not so popular.
You mentioned shotguns like right after I resumed the video XD. I hope you have good luck with that. I’m worried about how shotties fare against ADS’d shielders who are essentially headgliching, but that’s just speculation.
Most unusual way Ive killed a shield is by baiting a shield into thinking im pulling out my shimika launcher when Im actually pulling out my secondary to dome them right in the head (Only works for lmg tachanka)
The way i counter Shields is supressing them with a shotgun to The melee The Shield, when You are hace The heavy supression effect You can't melee for a short period of time
How to counter monty, Requires 2 people and the floor below to be soft. It was clubhouse and monty planted the defuser and sat in a corner on CC 1 person stays above with monty and keeps him stood still the 2nd person goes below and shoots up at monty to kill him
Ive never done this but I was thinking about how cool this would be. Now with skopos being played, the robots cant pick up the last rook armor on the team. So what if the rook placed the armor in an open spot on 2nd floor and a nitro cell was placed below the armor on the first floor. Have a valk cam watching if someone would go to the armor and boom. It could counter a shield but i guess this trap is for anyone.
Back when the shields didnt have mellee priority you could just run behind a corner and punch their shield and for me it had atleast a 90% success rate
Secure area clock is stack at 0 and i can't stop melee montaine inside the room. He goes to a corner and starts chatting shit on public chat. I dont have a C4 but i then realize that this clown was above an unreinforced hatch. I pull out my shotgun and he literally dropped out of site winning me the round😂
Lately it’s been like the shields might aswell just not exist. If I’m playing a shield op and run up and melee someone nothing happens half the time. Reticle is dead center on them and nope nothing. Then they proceed to just hop fire my head somehow.
The funniest way I ever tricked a shield is I was currently on 150 pink because I was playing in a British server with my friends and I ran outside as cap blitz was chasing me down and I jumped off the ledge on outback but my lag brought me back upand the fall damage killed blitz

One time a shield was chasing me and I ran over the soft hatch in stock (clubhouse) used my secondary shotgun to shoot the hatch as he ran over it and he fell lmao. I have the clip it's so funny
Great video, but you missed the core issue at the end. Which is you can't always be prepared for a shield given that you don't know if the enemy team will bring one. And let's say you do know somehow but you're a roamer.. how are you supposed to counter a shield in a 1v1?? TLDR; Shield were supposed to be a teamwork focused advantage.. not being able to win 1v1s against solo players who are not prepared for one. Which is clearly not the case with the current shields meta.
No other operators cause this much chaos or require this much team work to deal with. No other operators are nearly invincible whilst charging at you. But yet the dumbest most idiotic thing is; when they shield bash you, you are useless and cant do a thing… something which nomad was literally nerfed for. So why can you not just fall prone when they hit you too. Any smart ass who thinks they’re balanced is clearly brain dead when the entire community + pro players are saying they’re OP. , but no some random youtubers think its alright lmao

You got a massive skill issue get gud is all i can say. Shields are very situational and hard to adapt to scenarios outside their respective role they are good at with the exception of maybe Monty who is yet pretty easy to counter with the gazillion trap ops plus area denial ops plus oryx on top of that. You are just frustrated bc you see a shield and are too dumbfounded bc it needs some brainwork to outsmart them instead of just going guns blazing like the avarage new gen r6 player
The suppression mechanic is not good enough. Its the melee system that needs to be fixed. Its so clunky and doesn't work how it seems it should work. Super frustrating as a defender to go knife a shield and it not do anything because they started sprinting???? Like i can understand if they melee and you do it cancels out, but all the other animations that give them melee invulnerability is ridiculously asinine. And Montagne is just too good if they have even one person communicating with him he can be extremely frustrating, especially on certain sites like basement of bank. Maybe just lessen the periphery on montagne so hes not 180 degrees fully covered, even if you keep the head fully covered 180, morw bodyshots on the side of montagne when hes full extended would make him so much more manageable as a defender. It would incorporate more strategy and callouts to get angles on the montagne which is what ubisoft wants. But also i dont want monty to get one shot headshot from the sides because then he might not be fun to play. Blitz is fine to go against, the suppression mechanic works with blitz as he cant full extend like prick. And clash is in a decent spot too. (In terms of frustration/clunkyness)
The whole point of siege is to meet strategy with strategy. I can’t stand all the whiners who just want siege to be some fast paced head popping hero shooter rather than what it’s supposed to be, a chess game fps, the intellectual shooter. Can stupid people just gtfo of the game please, they’ve been whining to the devs for so long that we’ve lost what Siege is supposed to be. It’s at the point when someone else needs to come out with a replicate of Siege that’s more to the core of Clancy and the strategic element. In which gadgets are closer related to reality and where the map is part of the strategy. Darkness, dynamic light sources, slower pace, synergy plays being more powerful than solo etc.

I just run Oryx… and do a pre-dash if they are Blitz. If they are playing with a team, I try to isolate the other teammates first.

Placing a deployable shield sideways on a door allows no one through the door and having a replaced c4 with prox alarm goes well on recruit
They got me to play oryx and I genuinely love playing him now. Shotgun pistol for rotates, lesions SMG and can easily disengage. Also usually gets a free kill on a shield rusher.

I once tried Oryx in Kafe and hid in left side Bakery door where shield ops would dash through and just shot them behind and used my dash to get out.
me and my friend usually use a combo with clash or melusi or lesion as it can slow them down along with either goyo canister if its near them or use tachanka my fav is clash and tachanka as u can hide behind the sheild and shoot fire balls
Most creative (and most likely most lucky) way I countered was by running around a corner with a Blitz running after me for a melee kill (too close but not enough to melee me), and right after I made the turn, I turned and went back where I came from, timed a melee to hit the shield as soon as I went through the doorway and started shooting.
I guess Blitz was expecting me to try and run somewhere safe, so they didn't expect to run back right away. I did also melee around head level to try and catch them in case they went around the doorway ADSing but I don't play this game enough to know if that'd just stagger him or actually hit his head and get the kill.
Kind of like trickstabbing in TF2
My favorite way to counter shield players only works on monty.
Basically, what I do is stay at range (because shields will smash at close range) and pull cams. Then I immediately drop cams again.
As an official shield main in rainbow 6 siege I can confirm that most of the strats work but oryx and echo are the best
Knife the sheild as they're pushing you and spray. The knife will knock the shield sideways, revealing their head. You have to knife to the side of the shield and lean the other way whilst you're spraying to be able to get a shot off; otherwise, you'll just shoot the sheild.
Step one.
Play the Mute that shot me through literal dimensions past my shield with a shotgun.
I’ve been actually really having a lot of fun with oryx. Use your first two charges for rotations save your team some utility and time set up headholes and barbed then wait with best smg on defense
bait them into a doorway and as soon as they cross the frame impact the top corner of the door frame. killed plenty of shield ops this way
go to 1f, attach a C4 at the bottom of 2F hatch, then stand by near the 2f hatch, wait for the Shield to pass and step on the hatch. boom!
Great video- I don’t think shields are OP because of all the points presented. It’s a defender sided game, and the defense has had some big time ops added recently on top of it. Attack has desperately needed something to dull the defense’s edge, and I think this should be it. The final point is the kicker: stop lone wolfing. I’ve seen 3 shield rushes get dismantled just because my teammates and I played off each other. I don’t think they should get nerfed next season because it forces us to make teamwork plays- which I believe is the whole point of Siege to begin with.
Best way to counter shields is to tell them how little their life is worth. Works 9/10.

Counter idea: Throw and leave a nitro on the ground between the shielder and yourself, forcing them to aim and shoot it if they want to close the distance. People sometimes throw a nitro above a doorway, but attackers often sprint outside the door to bait a premature boom. A floor nitro is more exposed, but there’s no obstacle to protect the shielder, putting them in an awkward situation.
You could just throw it like the normal “grenade,” but better shielders knows to aim at overzealous defenders who throw them and panic spam that detonate key.
Other than that, shielders without sprint are neutered. I’d say the ACSG-12, the drum slug shotty, is good for spraying a shield to suppress (I think you need to deal like 120 dmg to stop their sprint) while not draining much of its magazine. Maestro’s LMG is also good for that, but he’s not so popular.
You mentioned shotguns like right after I resumed the video XD. I hope you have good luck with that. I’m worried about how shotties fare against ADS’d shielders who are essentially headgliching, but that’s just speculation.

Most unusual way Ive killed a shield is by baiting a shield into thinking im pulling out my shimika launcher when Im actually pulling out my secondary to dome them right in the head (Only works for lmg tachanka)

How to counter monty,
Requires 2 people and the floor below to be soft.
It was clubhouse and monty planted the defuser and sat in a corner on CC 1 person stays above with monty and keeps him stood still the 2nd person goes below and shoots up at monty to kill him
Guard break + double up with some aggression and the shield becomes useless
Choose a chocke point, have everyone use barbed wire and electrefy it with kaid and hope they forget gadgets
I still argue the suppression mechanic takes too many bullets to trigger in live.
Making vault rotates helps counter them too.
Ive never done this but I was thinking about how cool this would be. Now with skopos being played, the robots cant pick up the last rook armor on the team. So what if the rook placed the armor in an open spot on 2nd floor and a nitro cell was placed below the armor on the first floor. Have a valk cam watching if someone would go to the armor and boom. It could counter a shield but i guess this trap is for anyone.

Lately it’s been like the shields might aswell just not exist. If I’m playing a shield op and run up and melee someone nothing happens half the time. Reticle is dead center on them and nope nothing. Then they proceed to just hop fire my head somehow.
The funniest way I ever tricked a shield is I was currently on 150 pink because I was playing in a British server with my friends and I ran outside as cap blitz was chasing me down and I jumped off the ledge on outback but my lag brought me back upand the fall damage killed blitz

Great video, but you missed the core issue at the end. Which is you can't always be prepared for a shield given that you don't know if the enemy team will bring one. And let's say you do know somehow but you're a roamer.. how are you supposed to counter a shield in a 1v1??
TLDR; Shield were supposed to be a teamwork focused advantage.. not being able to win 1v1s against solo players who are not prepared for one. Which is clearly not the case with the current shields meta.

Shields are very situational and hard to adapt to scenarios outside their respective role they are good at with the exception of maybe Monty who is yet pretty easy to counter with the gazillion trap ops plus area denial ops plus oryx on top of that. You are just frustrated bc you see a shield and are too dumbfounded bc it needs some brainwork to outsmart them instead of just going guns blazing like the avarage new gen r6 player

The suppression mechanic is not good enough. Its the melee system that needs to be fixed. Its so clunky and doesn't work how it seems it should work. Super frustrating as a defender to go knife a shield and it not do anything because they started sprinting???? Like i can understand if they melee and you do it cancels out, but all the other animations that give them melee invulnerability is ridiculously asinine. And Montagne is just too good if they have even one person communicating with him he can be extremely frustrating, especially on certain sites like basement of bank. Maybe just lessen the periphery on montagne so hes not 180 degrees fully covered, even if you keep the head fully covered 180, morw bodyshots on the side of montagne when hes full extended would make him so much more manageable as a defender. It would incorporate more strategy and callouts to get angles on the montagne which is what ubisoft wants. But also i dont want monty to get one shot headshot from the sides because then he might not be fun to play. Blitz is fine to go against, the suppression mechanic works with blitz as he cant full extend like prick. And clash is in a decent spot too. (In terms of frustration/clunkyness)

The whole point of siege is to meet strategy with strategy. I can’t stand all the whiners who just want siege to be some fast paced head popping hero shooter rather than what it’s supposed to be, a chess game fps, the intellectual shooter. Can stupid people just gtfo of the game please, they’ve been whining to the devs for so long that we’ve lost what Siege is supposed to be. It’s at the point when someone else needs to come out with a replicate of Siege that’s more to the core of Clancy and the strategic element. In which gadgets are closer related to reality and where the map is part of the strategy. Darkness, dynamic light sources, slower pace, synergy plays being more powerful than solo etc.
