The Yateley Morris Men were formed in 1975 and have danced around the local area ever since. We are still going strong and welcome anyone interested in dancing or playing an instrument to join us.
We practice on Tuesday evenings in Yateley from October through to April. From May to September we dance at local pubs on Tuesday evenings and attend various festivals, fetes and other events about 1 or 2 weekends a month. These may be local, around the UK or even abroad.
Oxford Folk Festival 19th-21st April 2024
Like a phoenix from the flames, or perhaps more like a duckling that dreams of becoming a swan, members of the former volunteer committee are continuing the folk festival after the sad demise (after a brilliant decade) of Oxford Folk Weekend. We are now, with Tim Healey's permission, the Oxford Folk Festival 2024. We have a domain name (oxfordfolkfestival.org.uk) and even a nascent website, thanks to donated time from Jack Evans. This year we are ALL volunteers, as there is no budget, but we have been heartened by the generosity of our many supporters who have decided to donate their time as performers or behind-the-scenes helpers to make this event a success. Be assured that as usual, the streets will be full of colour and music from the morris dancers, while key locations in the centre of town will be showcasing our Oxford and Oxon performers.
