If being a midget is not a weaknesses then i don't know what is. Don't get me wrong, he was almost perfect, he just lacked structure.

He was in the Top 5 of the Mr. Olympia 12 times in a row (1990-2001). There should be an award for this.

Great abs (and everything else). The "roid gut" phenomenon looks so, so gross. Takes away from the rest of the body for sure.

Phil heath is like 5'9'' and most of the other olympia competitors are around that height and shawn isn't far from that either. the reason he never won was probably due to the fact he had to go up against dorrian,flex,kevin,nasser and lee preist. Not to mention the other incredible competitors

when dorian hit those lat spreads he was twice the width of ray
when he hit those 2 side he was twice as thick and dense as him, or flex..
when dorian hit that back double and his whole back was twice as thick and striated , and thumped his calves , he owned the stage it was lights out
i will give the front double bi and abs& thigh to shawn shots but thats it

Now you see this is what Mr. Olympia should look like, massive but still aesthetically pleasing with a fantastically tight midsection, showcasing an incredibly impressive v-taper. Everything is proportionate (legs could be a tad bit bigger, but that's nit-picking) and one muscle doesn't overshadow the other. Is Shawn Ray short? Yes, but that should *never* be the deciding factor in a bodybuilding show. This man deserved at least one Sandow.

If he had this size before Dorian and Ronnie came out he could've maybe stood a chance against Lee haney. Sorry but he had no chance against Dorian and Ronnie. Not only his calves, lats and shoulders are small but he isn't that wide at all. He is aesthetic, perfect midsection but again, he didnt stand a chance against bigger guys like Dorian and Ronnie (over 270lbs) with the same condition and shape like him. All you think about is midsection and aesthetic, well thats not bodybuilding is about. Its about having size, coming in good shape, good condition and also being good at posing
***** You honestly think Yates was aesthetic? .... Haney was probably the last of that era with aesthetics for this size.. once Yates came in the sport grew to how much mass you can attain and be conditioned. Aesthetics were at that point thrown out just about completely.
***** By that same token, you can't ignore that you lose certain things in the pursuit of pure mass like Dorian and Ronnie. Granted, they're mostly aesthetic values like I had mentioned, but even still, you can't say one is important over the other. Heavier you go, the less aesthetic and more bulkier you become, the opposite applies when you're too lean with no mass. It's about finding the perfect halfway point. It's only in the 90's did it become just about being freakishly large and pumping enough cutting agents into yourself to maintain any kind of vascularity and low BF%. Considering how bodybuilding is these days, there is absolutely no reason to allow anybody under 5'8 and 275 pounds to be in the lineup, because they're not going to be considered for the big prize anyway. And there have been plenty of times where the biggest person on stage (basically Ronnie or Dorian) didn't come in the best of shape and still won simply because they were gigantic (and for political reasons likely). Bodybuilding has two camps: the ones who just want to see freakish size, and those who prefer the classical lines and shape. Right now, Phil Heath is the best representation of having both worlds meet in the middle (but even still, there are people who want Kai in Big Ramy in the top spot because they're bigger).
Looks 100x better than the guys on stage today.

A dream body that lots would love to have. One of the Best symmetrical, Esthetic, Classic, Muscular and V-shape body to mention some. He would probably easily be Mr OLympia a couple of time If, they wouldn't just go by mass muscles in Mr Olympia competitions.
