Directed by Zoé Risser and the Blue Zoo short film of 2020, we are proud to present In Shapes! Born from the single word “puberty” and a brief to combine 2D and 3D animation creatively, this short was created completely remotely by BZ artists and the 2020 BZ interns.
In Shapes is an emotive and poignant mixed-media animation exploring the insecurities of a girl at the swimming pool. Created in portrait mode specifically for social media, the aim of the film is to empower young people who feel insecure about their appearance.

I have glasses for as long as I remember and I can say, I do swim and take a shower with my glasses. The only time I take them off is when I sleep because I’m blind without them

1:29 was amazing showing that the way you look can make yourself be powerful I love what this animation teaches 12-13+ years old people starting life I remember when I first got my period I thought it was so weird and I was ashamed of myself until I found out it was a normal thing and happened to lots of young women like me ❤, some people say disney made this but you the awesome creator like you made it with a special purpose behind it . That everyone is beautiful no matter how hairy you are 🎉, how fat/thick you are, how nice you are ❤, love it 😍
when I hit my 12 I didn't like body hair and my mom didn't get what I'm going through. This thing is better teaching
I’ve always felt good about my body shape, but been insecure about body hair all my life. I’m a dark haired French/Italian mix, and felt like I needed to shave my legs, armpits, and arms since before I was 10 years old, because I’ve never seen any other standard represented in US society. Thank you for creating this beautiful work of art. It means more than you know. ❤️
Hairy myself; but I cannot feel like it's something to embrace.. no matter how I think of it.. hair on the body as a woman is unnapealing.. yes I know some hair is supposed to be there but some of us have to dealwith hormonal problems that just make it stick out more than it would. I just wanna say; do not feel ashamed for having to shave your body hair if it doesn't make you feel confident..if being hairysits well with other women then so be it; but you also shouldn't be shamed for wanting to feel more confident
and it that means shaving or zapping the hair away then so be it. I've been using lazer at home and it's working wonders :) too much hair is uncomfortable for me.
Man, this one is quite the fresh feeling of it.
2D and 3D together is something unique thing I've seen.
Of course, other animations use that technique, but this one feels something different.

this summer i didn't shave my legs the whole summer. and yes there were stares, people talking about me while I was right there and even people taking pictures [i've got very thick black hair]. but i pulled through, because I wanted to inspire people to be themselves - AND to fk gender norms of course! hairy legs dont stop us from bein gorgeously feminine 😉 let's go for it! 😁✊

What I appreciate was how it felt like everyone was laughing at her but instead it was only a few people, which really proves how much of an impact one occurrence can have against you- and how it feels like everyone has turned against you. Amazing animation! I hate how many people make fun of it.

I saw this video with no artist/creator recognition on insta. I'm glad I managed to find the original here. This video legitimately made me tear up. It's so fucking, sadly relatable. I've always had some body dysmorphia issues and they've gotten worse with the decline of my mental health, being in a toxic relationship (now left) and just struggling to stay afloat. I try to exude confidence but it's so hard when you feel like you are the most unattractive person. Even though most would likely consider my average or maybe even cute, I feel like a monster. I don't know how to change that mindset. I'm trying but, it's so fucking hard.💔

I have this problem. Insecure about leg hair. One of my friends realized I was scared to show off my legs. One day she saw me in shorts. She saw I was uncomfortable. She changed clothes and now we both go around showing it because it's something that happens normally. You shouldn't hate people for normal body changes. Love them for how beautiful it can be :)

I'm not hating anyone who decides not to shave because i know some people cant cause of sensitive skin but if your insecure shave it i mean sometimes you may not see it but it causes dirt build up on your skin so it looses it brightness so shaving in my opinion is the best decision.
