Sometimes your car remote key or key fob doesn't respond when you press the lock or unlock button... in this video I show you how to fix it easily and quickly without being an expert electrician or using special tools. You can use your old broken keyboard to fix broken car remote very easily and cheaply!

Take square inch of aluminium foil, stick to some thin double sided sticky tape. Cut in to 3mm squares with scissors, stick to the rubber pad. Works well and no messy glue!

Copper tape. It’s a thing.
instead of destroying a keyboard why not use "Electrically Conductive Wire Glue" Basically liquid rubber that conducts low voltage AC and DC circuits in a permanent bond and is easy to use. When I got it, it was like $4 bucks.

I’ve seen what you did which is impressive but I would like an explanation as to how placing a piece of aluminum foil solves this and I’m from the USA. Thank you for your demonstration.
Yes, no problem, aluminum foil has high electrical conductivity so it restores lost conductivity on the pads.
I had used the aluminum foil to solve this few years back, but it used to get detached after some time. I had used superglue at that time. i had to repeat this process many times before I sold the car.

Je fais la même chose avec les télécommandes des divers appareils ménagers, genre télé, magnéto etc. Sauf que moi je prends de l'alcool à 90° et des pastilles d 'aluminium découpées aux ciseaux. La même chose quoi.

Aluminum duck tape could be used instead of rummaging for an old keyboard.

Super simple = clean, rub the pencil lead on the contacts and assemble.
There are flexable super glues available at hobby shops but most cure hard and can be brittle. A flexable rubber glue may last longer.
Try UHU glue.

Does the silver paper have same effect for a portable house phone? I find I have to really push hard to register some numbers?
Just use a pencil to transfer graphite onto the pad missing conductivity. No need to destroy a keyboard or use superglue.
I have been fighting this with Television remotes for some years and knew the surface of the contacts can wear out but I never thought of using a paper punch to make the substitute parts! Pure Genius. Thanks from the Upper Midwest of the US.

Velmi mnoho lepidla. Páska s kontakty by se mohla trvale přilepit k PCB. Klávesnice se stříbrnými kontakty na fólii se vyráběly před 30 lety. U nových typů je nenajdete.

Nice fix. 🙂👌 I used to work in a factory, one of the most common jobs was replacing the keyboard membranes for the digital phone handsets. We mainly worked on PABX systems. Now need to get mechanical switches for those car remotes!

I am writing to you from Italy and with the first method I solved it I had to press the buttons hard to open the car and when I opened the remote control there was dirt on the electronic board I cleaned it with your method and it started working again excellent tutorials

I don't think all manufacturers' smart keys have rubber domes, but when using the keyboard's film base or aluminum wheels, touching them with bare hands will accelerate their deterioration over time, so it's best not to touch them with your bare hands. I don't think it's good.

Há muito uso em meus remote control. Porém, na minha opinião, fita dupla-face tem sido mais durável do que cola instantânea.

I think the use of the keyboard pads is likely to be the best long term fix but with much less glue,because super glue does fume and mark plastics
It's a good tip and an old keyboard will give lots of contacts for future use.

Algumas vezes o controlo que liga e desliga o motor que faz abrir e fechar o portão deixa de funcionar, e trocamos a bateria pensando que ela é a causa do defeito. Ocorre, que mesmo com bateria nova, ele não funciona, então pensamos que é defeito irreparável.do controle remoto e o descartamos. Com o método indicado no vídeo, deu para ver que é possível fazer um conserto rápido, eficiente e barato, embora não saibamos o tempo de duração. Valeu a ideia. Hello from the UK, thank you for uploading this, I didn't know contacts like these would stop working.
I recently fixed a problem with our Mazda remote not working properly - the battery contacts needed pulling upwards more to make good contact again.

I used copper tape. It comes with a sticky side so no glue needed.

Been using the foil method for over 10 years with scissors, not a punch. You're using way to much glue.

Just put some grafite on the black spots. Use the dust of a pencil. 4bb or 6bb works great.

Better never clean these original black rubber pads, the conducting layer will go off in an instant. It was not dirt at 0:56, but that layer that came off.

Ridiculous. Just clean with alcohol, then rub a lead pencil on the rubber buttons. Problem solved.
Možná se mýlím, ale ukazujete klic od Citroën na modely Xsara, C5, C8. Ale vozidlo které tim odemykáte nevypadalo ani jako jedno z nich🤔. Už podle blikání blinkrů pri odemykání.
Citroen bliká několikrát po sobě při odemykání a jednou dlouze při zamykání.
Tady nic takového nebylo. Nehledě na kliky a tvar zámku. Citroën ma jiný otvor pro klic v zámku.
Tohle mi přijde spíš jako Hyundai 🤔. Tak jsk to je?
I use the cap , pour some alcohol in it and use a toothbruch to clean everything....I've revitalized 100s + of remotes, very seldod are the pads the prob................good video and well done on the button
