Edd, I couldn’t be happier for you being able to do most of the things in life you enjoy, great life plan on your part, we also get to enjoy something you do and that’s share your thoughts on most things running so thank you for that, your info is most valuable and of course appreciated.
Thanks Ed for doing this review. You are always thorough and honest about the practicality of the shoe, like what particular runner it is geared for. Looks like the Glycerin is right up my alley for long enjoyable runs. Roy Keane…I’m in the U.S so had to look that one up. All the best :)
I’ve got to say, I absolutely love this shoe and haven’t really taken it off since I got it. I’m 6’1” and around 13 stone, and I find it’s perfect for easy and long runs, while still being responsive and bouncy enough that I always end up running faster than I expect. I even used it for a tempo session, around a 6:30-7:30 mile pace for me, and it performed really well. The quality is top-notch, and it’s by far the most comfortable and plush shoe I’ve ever worn. I’m looking forward to seeing your long-term review of it!
@ My weight or the shoe? 😂 I personally don’t find the weight an issue as I use this shoe for mostly easy and recovery sessions and some of my slower long runs. I think there are better and lighter shoes that I’d use if I wanted to do tempo or speed work, but I have done tempo work in this shoe before no problem. Ive done over 100miles in the GM and I’m still really enjoying it. Although, it’s not my only shoe and I use it in a rotation.
Great review. I'm an older runner, so the more cushion the better. Currently running in the NB 1080v13, which I like very much, but I may look into this Brooks when it drops.
Another excellent review, Edd. I always look for your review of any new running shoe first of all. The Elite ShoeTuber. By the way, my only concern in buying the Glycerin Max is that I’m 6’ 4” and if I put on a pair, I might look like I’m wearing platform boots 😂 Keep on doing what you do. Dankeschon! 🙏🏻
Giving up on the Asics Superblast just because it’s impossible to find one here in Canada. Waiting on the white Puma MagMax… but then this Glycerin Max comes along. Im’ma go with Brooks now!🔥🔥🔥
Sold my Superblast 2's. They are not as good as the hype in my opinion. I replaced them with the Prime X 2 Strung and I think the Adidas is a much nicer shoe to run in
Dankeschöööön for the great review. Stability-wise compared to Superblast 2? This Brooks seems to fit in the new neutral-stable category perfectly from what I see in the specs. Thanks and keep up the good work.
The expose outsole is quite durable! In my aurora pair some minor wear appeared after 600k.i was looking for a replacement within 😊the brooks family and after your review i think i found it! Hats off ed!
I’m a 2:30 marathon runner, and I found a shoe to be great! They are very similar to puma magmax, but they are with more enjoyable ride, however I found pumas to be more comfortable. (Some blisters on foot from Brooks, but footglide should do the job)
Gonna give this a try i think, looks like a great easy long run shoe, just what im after. Was also curious about the Glideride max, but as they seem to have forgotten about europe these look like a good alternative.
Gutted as literally (after a few months of considering) gone for the Skyward X but feel these would probably have been a more sensible buy (no plate etc.). Maybe next months’ purchase!! 😅
does that mean you ordered the Skyward X right before watching this video? if so, how is it running in the Skyward X? I am a heavier guy (90kg/200lbs/180cm/150-160 cadence/5-6min/km) and have a meniscus problem at the moment, so a running and rock climbing ban for now. Before the ban, I already switched from heel striking to forefoot striking, did trail runs with my Speedgoat 5 (and the alternative Asics Fuji Lite 4) while walking on ashpalt to and from the trail, etc. Besides my Novablast 4 TR and Superblast (1), I am looking at the Max stack gang to find the most shock absorbing shoes, while not beeing too soft (for my weight) and also not too unstable. My gait is very neutral due to the pressure plate test, so i probably don't need tons of stability. That said: I didn't like the Novablast 3 which i tested after runnig in my NB4TR and then in a new NB2. For me I am also very intrigued to try the Skyward X. Also the Hoka Skyflow, which should be a Mach 6 with just a little (3mm) more stack (not quite, but ok). Then this Glycerin Max. I hate the Nimbus 26 btw, too sinky soft and the outsole slaps onto the ground like crazy! Energy sapping and loud: unrunable! Therefore, I don't conside the Glideride max, because it seems like a little upgraded Nimbus with very similar outsole. So: no thanks, it is the leats considerate shoe for me. But Hoka i like for the fit! Speedgoat 5, Mach 6... Only thing is: Skyward X is 225€, Glycerin Max 200€, Skyflow 170€ (and is till have a brandnew Mach 6 for 160€), etc, means everythign is getting more and more expensive. I got a Ghost Max (1) for 105€ + 5€ shipping, which has stack, isn't too soft, on the contrary, is a little firmer, just the fit is not perfect, it is build for feet with high volume and also heels and the space around the ankles is way too large for me. Therefore: no problems with Hoka shoes. Maybe I could try Puma also, since they are also said to have a more narrow fit.
This shoe does look amazing and I agree Brooks are better made than most. I’ve only ever owned one Brooks, the Glycerin 20. Excellent build quality, midsole was as flat as a fart though.
@@EDDBUD yeah it’s looks entirely different. I think Brooks have completely overhauled their foam of late. Same with Hoka. They’ve entered the modern world. If this ever sees a sale I’ll likely pick it up. 👍
Thanks Ed great review and this one does look great and very tempting but the £180 price tag is a sharp intake of breath but I guess if they really are that good and will go to 500 miles then they’re a worthy investment??
Great review as always Ed! How is the forefoot compared to the superblast 2? For reference, I went a half size up to 11 for SB2, otherwise I'm 10.5 WIDE for Saucony Triumph 21 or Size 11 on the Endorphin Pro 3

Kids don't really know what they want to do for the rest of their lives and by the time they are able to make an informed decision, it is either too late (practically speaking) or they are so entrenched into something that making a change would be difficult. Really want this shoe for easy/ recovery and possibly an everyday shoe in the rotation but launch colour of white coming into UK winter it will get pretty grotty pretty quick… and my ocd does not allow me to have dirty shoes… just purchased the NB more V5 and have found them toooo soft, and rather than protecting the older legs they made knees sore with the sinking feeling so they are retired already so may just have to take the risk on these shoes.
