Kristin Asbury is a terrific singer. She just does backup on this. She could have been a Joplin / Stone or a jazz singer or a Houston / Streisand power-balladeer. She probably didn't want music as a career. This existential angst stuff wouldn't show off her voice though, not that I dislike it.
