Hyman crosscheck on Zadorov - Tough Call Recommendation

- Zach Hyman gave this retaliatory crosscheck to the face of Nikita Zadorov. I didn’t see this at first, but it falls right in line with the others. This wouldn’t happen under my system. It’s easy to be consistent who you want to be.

1 game to match Soucy's ruling as I think that set the precedent.
According to Canucks coach, Zadorov required stitches due to this hit.
ha ha ha whatever. Sounds like bs
@@DaveLaubman--MakingCents in his postgame interview he had stitches but ok man
Not even discussed by anyone but you today. Absolute joke
Cry cry your team will be golfing by this time next week. Maybe Mcdavid can join the boys at the WC
@@JSnipes-nb7uy lol learn to read.
Obviously you didn’t see the whole altercations of all four players from start to end. Clips don’t show it all. Oil got two gifts from player safety
@@yarrowcentral I don't read I just write
Tocchett said Zadorov got stitches too. Yet nary a peep from the media or the NHL about that face shot. McDavid also did a baseball bat swing slash to start the entire sequence of events.
Both Canucks are guilty of grievous violent infractions and both Oilers too!
Yet only the Canuck players got penalized.
In a past game, Kane slew footed also.
The optics are very clear.
The NHL prefers the Oilers over the Canucks.
Lots of people are trying to point Tocchett's comment about stitches as some sort of evidence of severity or something, but as far as I'm aware nobody has seen the stitches and can verify where it might have occurred. Also, players get stitches for lots of things in hockey, like high sticks...
I just watched both hits frame by frame in this video, and I've changed my opinion of both the Hyman check and the Soucy check...
I now believe, after looking at this frame by frame ( which, as a caveat, still does NOT communicate or denote intent ), Hyman's check looked like it was headed for Zadorov's shoulder, but because Zadorov punched at Hyman up under the stick, Hyman's stick was subsequently raised, and went in to Zadorov's face even while Hyman was looking away due to the punch. Had Zadorov just taken the check, or perhaps not noticed Hyman and thus not reacted, it would not have hit him in the face, I believe.
The flip of this is Soucy, who I had maintained since the event, had accidentally checked McDavid in the jaw/clavicle area. He even said as much in his post-hearing statement that it was high and unintentional. However after looking at this frame by frame, before McDavid is even going down from Zadorov's check, Soucy is checking right at McDavid's jaw/clavicle area. He may not have "meant" to hit him in the head, but the frames show that he clearly put his stick there, even before McDavid crumpled from the back check.
My opinion before this video was that Soucy's check was an accident and it was incidental due to McDavid falling, whereas Hyman was intentional, and should have received a similar or worse punishment to what Soucy received.
However after frame by framing, I now believe Soucy's check, while still likely unintended to injure, was not incidental to McDavid falling as it was at the jaw/clavicle height with McDavid standing straight, and thus deserved the suspension, which possibly could have been justified to be even more games in suspension. Whereas with Hyman's check, after watching frame by frame, I believe this was completely accidental, and if requiring any punishment, should have been a similar fine to what Zadorov received, and no more.
Wow really ? Lmao
@@dougmaclean8818 yeah, really.. not sure if mocking, but the Tough Call youtuber said somewhere that he likes when people discuss and dissect the clips he shows, in detail... i thought I'd give my two cents... you are absolutely free to disagree.. this is just how I see it..
So Soucey and Zadorov should get 6-10 games also !!!
i was good with McDavid getting nothing, Zadorov getting a fine and Soucy getting a game. All that is fair given the level of the offenses. This one is infuriating because it is on a level with Soucy's cross check and DOPS has really messed up here
and to think people bet on the NHL ????? WOW
So let me see if I have this straight...Soucy hits McDavid after the whistle, McDavid Slashes Soucy then Soucy Slashes him back...Is that not somewhat even at that point?. Or after you exhange slashes you can then fire a couple more cross checks into a guys back and face if If anyone come to that players aid they should be suspended 6 games? Wow that's some strange logic you have there.
I think you missed the other video where I also suspended Zadorov and Soucy for 6 games.
so hyman should be suspended ...
Barely connected
You to reality? No shit! 😀
@@ferrallderrall6588I know. Just a tap to McMcMc
@@ferrallderrall6588 According to Tocchet, Zadorov had to be stiched up. Barely connected my a$$!

Bullsh*t rules lead to bullsh*t decisions. For example... Morgan Rielly gets 5 games for cross-checking Grieg - with no serious injury to the player, yet Soucy only gets 1 game for a similar offence... because he didn't have to skate over there to do it 🤣 I'm no Leafs fan, but that is bullsh*t. It's like each time something happens, they generate a random number and decide the outcome from that 🙄
love your channel and what you show...can you give your video other look please...when Hyman comes in he takes a punch to the face from Zadorov before any stick contact (Zadorov even drops his "guard" including bringing his own stick towards himself which may have blocked Hyman's stick)...Hyman's head is shoved to the side and that's when the part of Hyman's stick comes up (I actually think it may have rode Zadorov's punching arm up), and catches Zadorov...then Hyman's stick is one handed high in the air...definitely Hyman came in hot to defend what happened to McDavid, but I don't believe it was a direct cross check to Zadorov's face (for example without Zadorov knowing he was coming in as some people have been saying or without the punch he took to the face)...just wanted you to consider that (at 34 seconds at 0.25 speed definitely shows this)
Ok. I’ll take a revisit later this evening. I love it when people really think and dissect.
He wants to be bias though. Thats what sports is lol
Principal point of contact to me looks like it was the shoulder and not the head, and it came after Zadorov punched Hyman in the face. I see Hyman attempting to avoid the glove by lifting his stick up and then trying to pull down over the arm to deliver the stick to the chest. This is in line with the principal point of contact being the shoulder and not the face. The stick may then ride up towards and across the face of Zadorov, but does so when Hyman has one hand on his stick. Taking all of the above in, this represents more as high sticking than a crosscheck to the face. Zadorov was also an instigator on the play as a whole.
Having said that, 3 - 5 games for Zadorov, 3 - 5 for Soucy, and 1 for Hyman would be a fair exchange here.
I am all for a safer more consistent NHL. But if this is a six game suspension, you are running out of players real fast because everyone is suspended.
Good for zack after seeing the 2 v 1 plus cheap shot from behind although his cross never came close to connecting like the Vancouver guts doing the mullochi crunch ffs
Good for Zadorov. Juulsen draws in. Next …
for sure one game it's an intentional CC hit to the head .....text book .....NHL BS
Evidently, NHL will only take action if it's for their golden child McFavoured. Don't know why y'all even discussing this.
Nasty 2 v 1 and one of them completely blindside
The difference is Hymans was intentional. Soucy never meant to hit McDavid in the face.
Soucy's hit on McDavid looked so much harder than Hyman's hit on Zadorov.
I am actually baffled how McDavid isn't concussed with more visible injuries but I'm glad he's no worse for ware
It’s playoffs though 1 game is fair
Doesn’t look like much because it wasn’t much. At least he wasn’t coming from behind like that coward zadorov

There is no xcheck vs Zadorov, what are you all smoking? Zadorov stick was up and it took the hit.
George Parros been smoking the same stuff as you
Maybe what matters more is the intent? I'll admit, though, that it looked way way less severe than Z or Soucy's cross-checks...
Yeah and that's why he had to get stitches after?
It literally shows Hyman's stick go right for his head and makes contact..that's a crosscheck to the head, much Like McDavid falling down lead to him getting a crosscheck to the collarbone/neck
Looks like Tocchet might have to bet on his team to lose. I bet he wishes they didn’t play so tough. He might not want to gamble away their advantage.

@@ToughCallAlso, I think you said you were prepared to go higher than 6, but you took into account the possibility that Soucy was aiming for Mcdavid's chest...or something like that.
