For anyone following this tutorial in 2024, here are a couple of tips: 1. Trigger Happy is no longer being actively updated -- you're best bet is to use Monk's Active Tile Triggers instead; it does all the same stuff. It just creates a custom tile instead of using tokens (meaning no more random actors to work around), and has a nice menu for giving them triggers/actions. 2. If you want to open the PSD files, but don't have Photoshop, Krita is a very good free option that supports opening PSD files! Some things may look a bit different and you may have to play around with some settings, but at least you'll have access to the bones for free! If anyone has any more tips, feel free to share!
Nice to see my module (Lock View) featured here. I just wanted to let everyone know that I just released an update for it that fixes the issue talked about from about 24:30, where it didn't save the user configuration if there's no players configured. Also take a look at the new 'Collapse Sidebar on Scene Load' and 'Hide UI on Sidebar Collapse' settings in the scene configuration, since you might want to hide the UI on your landing pages.
Hey, love your module, discovered it via this video, it's really great, but I wanted to ask you if there's any way you know to make your module work with the "Zoom/Pan Options" module? Whenever I use the two together it seems like the Zoom/Pan Options module overrides yours, allowing players to zoom in and out on a map I've set to disallow zooming.
That brings a whole new meaning to "preparing a campaign". As someone who was on the fence about buying foundry so i can start dming again (didn't really like the available options so far), this convinced me.
What? And here I was wondering if I really want to make css files for character sheets... And then YT shames me so hard by recommending this. This is so impressive!
This is phenomenal! I've created a home page to my current Frozen Sick game using these methods (working on the other pages) and it has added so much more life to the "waiting for the DM to get stuff ready" screen. Absolutely one of the best tutorials I've seen to amp up the start of the game. Huge thank you Jorge!
I have been looking for a tutorial on how to make an interactive landing page for days, not only did this video help me understand FINALLY how trigger happy works - BUT - you also provide all these incredible assets! and a Photoshop tutorial! you're incredible! THANK YOU for giving the tools to make my world that much more immersive for my players
If anyone was having issues with the hidden tokens thing, make sure the spelling on your trigger happy code is perfect. I had a space between Trigger and [click] on a few of my lines which was working fine for normal use as the click functionality is the default on trigger happy and what I wanted to do anyway, so I assumed everything was working correctly - but when I hid them, it broke things and I couldn't figure it out for a while. Trigger Happy is case sensitive as well, so bear that in mind. Anyway, very swish video! I've got some fancy menus that I think will really *pop* with that nice sound macro. Thanks so much, Jorge!
FOR THOSE HAVING ISSUES WITH TRIGGER HAPPY: A lot of people have reached out telling me they had issues with Trigger Happy. I'm not the module's developer but these are some pointers that might help you solve your problems with it. • Make sure both Foundry and Trigger Happy are up to date. • Trigger Happy only cares for the Token Name, so remember to check if it matches what you typed inside the Journal Entry. Sometimes the Actor name (what's on the sheet and Actor's tab) differs from the Token Name (right clicking the token). • When you go into Module Settings, there's an option for enabling a button to turn Trigger Happy on and off. Check that box and make sure to toggle it in the sidebar controls. ••• POSSIBLE FIX: User @B D got in touch with me with the same problems, what worked for him was to drag the actor straight from the Actor's tab and into the journal entry. So, he typed @Token, then dragged the actor in front of that and continued as shown in the video. Let me know if that works for everyone. FOR THOSE STILL ASKING FOR PATREON: It is still coming. I figured if I were going to do it, I'd do it right. So I set up a small team to develop a module specifically for Game Environments that will make your lives a lot easier and remove the need for any other module. We already have the structure in place and a working alpha version but there is still much to be done before we're confident we can launch it. Thanks for being patient, and sticking along and soon I'll be able to talk in depth about it =D

You mean cover the other pages? Probably not since these are the fundamental building blocks, the rest of the pages are just copies of these two (the most complex ones). In my Patreon I'll offer some templates that are a bit more generic but ready to use!

Late reply, but I finally tried this using some mmo assets from unity and the end result was amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your psd file and posting this tutorial. It was extremely helpful.
Very nice work. How did you create such a clean layer mask from Samuel Thompson's frame? I found something for my game but spent like 30 minutes cutting it out and didn't end up with NEARLY as clean of a frame as you did.
My guess would be using burn/dodge in the alpha channels to get a clean selection & then messing around with feather/contrast in the mask made from that selection.
LOVE THIS! Managed to follow it fine and made one for Dragon of Icespire Peak. The only thing I've not managed to figure out is the Macro for the page turning sound effects. Not used Macros before and copied your text exactly (changing the file path for where mine is located) but it's not playing the sound. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks for the guide.
I’m glad it was useful to you! You might want to check if there were any updates to the macro via Foundry’s Discord. You might want to stay tuned for my next updates on this project, it might just be what you’re looking for!
@@jkpsimplicio Thanks for the response. Still clueless about macros but I managed to get it to play in end. Had to put the sound file into the Foundry application sounds folder (had it in a sounds folder in my user data files before). So my path in the end was simply "sounds/FILENAME.wav". Looking forward to the next update though. Tutorial was great!
Thank you so much for the video AND the files; I made my own version for another setting, and it saved me a ton of time and sweat :) I have a question about tiles: is there a way to use Trigger Happy to switch tiles on and off on the same page, instead of switching to another copy of the page? (Just like layers in Photoshop, where you can turn them on and off) That would avoid the loading bar. Is the Patreon up?
This is wonderful, I live for things like this! I just got into Foundry a few days ago, and am so excited to try this out. One question that I didn't see covered in the video, I noticed at the beginning of the video you had a background image on the login screen. How did you manage that? I haven't been able to find a setting for it.
You're absolutely correct. I forgot completely. To do that, once you are in the World Selection screen, go to the world you want to add the login screen to, and click edit. There's an option for you to add a Background Image, and that's for the login page. A Caviat is that you cannot add a new image straight from that edit page. The image you want for your login page must be in a foundry folder already. So just make sure that when you are adding images to the world folders inside of foundry you remember to add an image for your login screen. Try that out and tell me if it works for you!
This is amazing. Thank you for sharing the template and the wonderfully made tutorial. I am stuck on the sound macro you made. I can't see the code in the macro. The text is blurry. Could you reply with the macro code you used to point to the sound file, control the volume, etc.?
Hey, sure! Here you go: AudioHelper.play({src: "path.wav", volume: 0.8, autoplay: true, loop: false}, false); That's it. Replace the word path with the path to the sound file you need. Remember it points to your Data folder, so if ou have your sound there, all you have to do is to type the file name. However, if your sound is in a subfolder your gonna have to call for the path after your data folder. In my video, the sound was inside a few subfolders: Data -> Ravenloft -> Soundtrack -> Soundfx -> file.wav. Which translated to ({src: "ravenloft/soundtrack/soundfx/file.wav",...}) Make sure your slashes are forward like "/" (as opposed to Windows' default "\"). I'm glad you've enjoyed the video! And I hope this helps ^^
This is fantatsic, I ma creating one for my Cyberpunk Game. Question, what are you placinging in the Character windows? a Link to a journal or thier character sheet?
Awesome video, just made a landing page for my upcoming CoS game with ot. What fonts did you use for the Menus? I want to add a menu. That links o a journal with all homebrew and extenden rules for the game in it
I am having trouble with the height of the pages. When I use 1026, as suggested in the video, my background image get's cropped. I have the full image aprox. at 945, but I think it depends on your browser - how big is the adress bar and your bookmarks. Somebody's got some ideas about that? I am using Chrome with the normal setting and bookmarks bar.
Today, I used this tutorial once more for another campaign. What I noticed is that the recent version of Foundry seems to load scenes differently - when I switch between the first and second journal pages, it doesn't only change the tile (since the background is the same file), but it reloads the entire page which makes the transition be not very fluent at all.
This is incredible - thank you! For the journal entries (objectives, characters, etc), do you update the tile(s) in photoshop and then replace it in foundry? Or is there some way to add things to them in Foundry?
There are ways to do either. You can set up a blank journal that'll be updated via a text tool inside foundry, or, if you want more control over the look of the Journal, you can do it on Photoshop and import it!
Nicely done! When you have multiple players and each player starts interacting with journal buttons, does it change the scene for just that player or does it change for all players?
Tenta aí e me diz se funcionou =D
Great tutorial but i was stuck at the making at 39 mins for a bit because i couldn't get the token to work! For anyone with this problem make sure your game isnt paused!!!!
Hey, do you (or anyone else) know where you got those menu button sound effects from? They sound great and I haven't been able to find anything similar.
Hey again, would you know if theres a way to let players click a link for a map in a journal entry instead? For instance through your interface theres a map page - say they wanted to see the map over vallaki but still want to see there notes on the place. Could you use trigger happy code to let the players click a link in the journal and then see the map over vallaki?
Man what an amazing job, thank you very much this is a whole new level. Im trying to find a sound effect for the "characters", "journal" etc changing focus, but I dont know what to search lol, could you help me out maybe? thanks, and again incredible work.
How did you cut out that frame so cleanly? Was it done manually by hand or did you use some sort of photoshop feature? I do a lot of stuff like that when I prep but always by hand and could never get it that clean.. thank you! Talking about at 13:23
When dealing with shapes that are more regular, I prefer using either the Lasso Tool or the Pen Tool. It gives me better results. Also you can toy around with the layer mask properties to get to the desired effect!
Really cool! I love it! Did you commission the frame from the artist? and do you have a link to his website/portfolio? I would simply looove to get my hands on that frame or something similar if possible
I didn't comission it, but here's the link to his Artstation. He's amazing: www.artstation.com/thepenguinside Guess I should add that to the description box!
@@jkpsimplicio Any tips on how you took the jpeg asset from artstation and integrated it as a UI element? eg. semi-transparent fill texture and cutting out the general element from the JPEG as published.
Sorry for the delay! And yes you can. All you have to do is to, instead of dragging your scene to the Trigger Happy entry, you drag a character. When you click the token, the character sheet will pop up!
@@jkpsimplicio Dang dude, my characters triggers are not working. Did what you said: @Token[name]dragged the character token here, but its not working.

My dude! This is incredible!
Amazing work, gonna do my own for sure !
Aww, thanks! I hope the video was useful ^^
If I could I'd like this vid twice
Great! As if I needed more time sinks when prepping my foundry games! Thanks a lot! :P No, really. This is an AWESOME idea. I wish I thought of it. Thanks for integrating these together into a useable whole.
Hahaha I'm sorry to put more things on your shoulder =P
But, seriously, I hope this video serves you well!
Muito foda Jorge. Me inspirou a fazer uma versao pra minha campanha em Forgotten!
This is awesome dude, good work.
Thanks!
This is amazing. Thank you for the inspiration!
Omg this is amazing! Thank you for sharing Jorge! Will you be making more content like this in the future?
Yeah! There's a Patreon on the works where I'll release more content like this. Stay tuned!
Damn, normally I don't feel bad for closing a useful video without giving a like and a comment, but... Here I am xD
Thank you so much for this tutorial, our landig page looks great! (Not as much as yours but... hehe).
Great video! Lots of people is still asking you about your Pulp Cthulhu psb files for campaign A Cold Fire Within if you still have them can you share them again?

Quoting Ned Stark: "Patreon is coming". Good gaming for yall =D
The quality of content is so high that I feel bad downloading PSD without being able to donate. PayPal not working for me. See you on Patreon.
This isn't working for me, for some reason it adds a modifier, then again I'm using GURPs. Is it only for 4e?
@@MRDaved Hey, I'm not sure what you mean. Can you give more details so I can try to help you? This is completely system agnostic so it should work regardless of the system.
@@jkpsimplicio It ended up working fine on its own randomly after I set the sheet to NPC. I think something in GURPs was interfering with the script. Thank you for the great tutorial btw.
@@MRDaved I'm glad it worked out :D
Abraços Man!
Obrigado
You should just make this a module my guy. I'd 100% pay for this. 10/10
It is on the works and I hope to be able to share more with you all very soon!
@@jkpsimplicio Welp, I subbed so I will be patiently waiting. Keep up the amazing work.
Very beautiful piece of art, i must say. Amazing work, please keep doing more of this videos, for me was very instructive. Any place where we can watch your campaigns? Seeing this in action it´ll be worth it. Saudações do Uruguai!
Thanks! I'm now working on a nautical one. I'll be doing more videos for sure.
As for watching the campaigns I'm not a streamer so it is unlikely that you'll be able to, but who knows. Maybe in the future I'll manage to stream something :D
Really cool for people playing in official campaigns or who have artists as DMs. 🤣
Nah, you don't really have to be an artist as I'm far from one, and I'm sure you can make one that is tailored to your homebrew world!
@@jkpsimplicio But to make it look so good, how else can you accomplish that without some skill with design?
Late reply, but I finally tried this using some mmo assets from unity and the end result was amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your psd file and posting this tutorial. It was extremely helpful.
Dude, you rock!
You can duplicate the scene and just change the background image as necessary to save a little bit of time.
This amazing! Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for the video AND the files; I made my own version for another setting, and it saved me a ton of time and sweat :)
I have a question about tiles: is there a way to use Trigger Happy to switch tiles on and off on the same page, instead of switching to another copy of the page? (Just like layers in Photoshop, where you can turn them on and off)
That would avoid the loading bar.
Is the Patreon up?
This is miles beyond what I'd be willing to do, but god damn if it isn't really really cool...
Incredible work. This is pretty much game dev work you're doing here. Very inspiring! Do you have a Discord server where people can find you?
@@jkpsimplicio That did the trick. Thank you so much for your help!
Thanks so much for this, I better get downloading photoshop and having a play!
This is amazing. Thank you for sharing the template and the wonderfully made tutorial. I am stuck on the sound macro you made. I can't see the code in the macro. The text is blurry. Could you reply with the macro code you used to point to the sound file, control the volume, etc.?
Hey, sure! Here you go:
AudioHelper.play({src: "path.wav", volume: 0.8, autoplay: true, loop: false}, false);
That's it.
Which translated to ({src: "ravenloft/soundtrack/soundfx/file.wav",...})
Make sure your slashes are forward like "/" (as opposed to Windows' default "\").
I'm glad you've enjoyed the video! And I hope this helps ^^
This is fantatsic, I ma creating one for my Cyberpunk Game. Question, what are you placinging in the Character windows? a Link to a journal or thier character sheet?
What module should we use now trigger happy is no longer updating?
Awesome video, just made a landing page for my upcoming CoS game with ot. What fonts did you use for the Menus? I want to add a menu. That links o a journal with all homebrew and extenden rules for the game in it
Tô só esperando o Patreon agora o.o
Não vai demorar muito mais não hahaha
I am having trouble with the height of the pages. When I use 1026, as suggested in the video, my background image get's cropped. I have the full image aprox. at 945, but I think it depends on your browser - how big is the adress bar and your bookmarks. Somebody's got some ideas about that? I am using Chrome with the normal setting and bookmarks bar.
Super helpful!
Is there any way you can say what font your using for the journal titles, the menu buttons, and the quote flavor text? They look really good
Sure! Here they are:
Journal Titles > Cambridge Regular
Objectives > Esther Regular
Flavor Text > EB Garamond
Menu Buttons > Trajan Pro 3
Today, I used this tutorial once more for another campaign. What I noticed is that the recent version of Foundry seems to load scenes differently - when I switch between the first and second journal pages, it doesn't only change the tile (since the background is the same file), but it reloads the entire page which makes the transition be not very fluent at all.
Hey Jorge, thanks for the content. Question for you, any ideas on how to link to Forien's Quest Log using Triggers??
Honestly I would pay you to set up something like this on my table X D
This is incredible - thank you!
For the journal entries (objectives, characters, etc), do you update the tile(s) in photoshop and then replace it in foundry? Or is there some way to add things to them in Foundry?
There are ways to do either. You can set up a blank journal that'll be updated via a text tool inside foundry, or, if you want more control over the look of the Journal, you can do it on Photoshop and import it!
where do you get the journal template ?
Nicely done! When you have multiple players and each player starts interacting with journal buttons, does it change the scene for just that player or does it change for all players?
Not at all, everything happens withing their own clients, so what a player does, doesn't affect any of the other players logged in!
omedocomputador\AppData\Local\FoundryVTT"
Aí você vai encontrar a pasta Data.
Tenta aí e me diz se funcionou =D
@@jkpsimplicio Deu certo sim, valeuzão ♥
Great tutorial but i was stuck at the making at 39 mins for a bit because i couldn't get the token to work! For anyone with this problem make sure your game isnt paused!!!!
Do you know a way to make journal entries open maximized already for players?
Hey, do you (or anyone else) know where you got those menu button sound effects from? They sound great and I haven't been able to find anything similar.
Hey again, would you know if theres a way to let players click a link for a map in a journal entry instead? For instance through your interface theres a map page - say they wanted to see the map over vallaki but still want to see there notes on the place. Could you use trigger happy code to let the players click a link in the journal and then see the map over vallaki?
That is doable in core Foundry. You just drag the Map image onto your journal entry.
He's amazing: www.artstation.com/thepenguinside
Guess I should add that to the description box!
@@jkpsimplicio thx a bunch! :)
@@jkpsimplicio Any tips on how you took the jpeg asset from artstation and integrated it as a UI element? eg. semi-transparent fill texture and cutting out the general element from the JPEG as published.
Jorge, how do you make the characters link ? There is a way for them to click on the characters on the screen and open theyr sheets ?
Sorry for the delay! And yes you can. All you have to do is to, instead of dragging your scene to the Trigger Happy entry, you drag a character. When you click the token, the character sheet will pop up!
@@jkpsimplicio Dang dude, my characters triggers are not working. Did what you said: @Token[name]dragged the character token here, but its not working.
@@nicholaslara0405 You should grab it straight from the actor panel. Sorry for the confusion!
