Looking great and so different..its a nice feeling put her back together piece by piece all clean looking as you imagined ..looks like your schedule is about on target.
Always a nice feeling when you start to put a vehicle back together after a lot of hard work and late nights... With regards to the side window. Yes, when the hole is cut out, there are 2 skins bonded together at the factory and the bonding need to be removed. The 2 skins then need to be hammered and dollied together so they are flat(ish). The either bonded with something like TigerSeal or any other PU adhesive or weld the 2 skins together but then clean back the spots to get a flat surface again. Then bond the window in.... I did it to both my side windows but started with the sliding door, just in case I messed up I could replace the door LOL Keep the vids coming Paul, just wait till you start the camper conversion...... FUN.....hmm maybe....
I thought so! Bloody hell! There’s no way I’m gonna take it back out, I’ve proper bonded it in this time 😕, at least it’s not falling out like it was before
Little bit ago pulled the front glass. Decided to get suction cups. Found out that shop next to work makes auto glass installation tools. Picked up a set from them. Few more weeks and ill be at the point of installing front class.
The van is looking amazing fair play! I had overspray on my T5 windows a while ago and acetone on cotton wool took all the paint spots off easily. May help you with the windows at least. I’ve got a T4 to tackle so these videos are going to be a huge help for me! Thank you for sharing 👍👍
Similar question to one already really, what windscreen rubber is that, as it looks far better than the the normal one, which is just an edging seal. Your one seems to lip over the surrounding panels so much better? Have you got a part number or details of who you got it from please - excellent work by the way
Hi Paul the rubber that you put in your front screen was it different to the one you took out what I'm asking is is it one of those universal rubbers it looks a better fit my window screen is out at the moment and I am looking for a better rubber because the original ones are crap they just hold water at the bottom that's why we get all that rot👍
The new rubber I used was a really nice fit and looks the same as the one that was on there. I replaced it because it had dried out and was brittle. The screen I took out didn’t look original so that could possibly be a non original rubber seal too. That’s a good point that you make about the seal holding water in at the bottom. Maybe it would actually be better to cut a drainage hole into it on either side? The seal is surly just there as a decorative means rather than a water seal anyway. Water will always sit on the aperture behind the seal due to the angle that it slopes back at.
Shame about the masking you would have saved yourself a lot of work 🤦♂️ it looks great Paul well done mate keep up the good work you're nearly there😎👍
Im afraid guys its true. You've fitted the trim inside out. Unfortunately, i followed your video and did the same, and my screen is leaking in rain water like crazy. Id take this video down if I were you.
Hi if you mean the rubber trim that goes around the windscreen, that is only cosmetic. If your windscreen is leaking I would hazard a guess that the mastic has bonded to the trim and not the glass or you didn’t apply a tall enough bead to close up the gaps. If it’s leaking then removing it will show where you’ve gone wrong to correct it. A massive pain I know but worth the trouble in the end. I’m very sure I got everything just right, several years later and it’s still water tight.

Coming on nicely. Can't wait to see it all finished, it'll definitely be worth all the effort 👍
That's the cleanest wind screen surround I've ever seen on a t4. I've got a wind screen to replace but I need to do some repairs first😵💫
It took ALOT of work!

I have several suction cups but I just can’t trust them enough to handle glass like that. I only use them for pulling out old double glazed units.
