    Hi.
    The £30 loco is a South African railways electric loco. They also used to make one in blue (Blue Train).
    I have them both. Interesting locos.

    Great looking show and lots of merchandise to peruse through. I was curious to see that Palitoy made model train cars. I only knew them as the UK toy distributors for Star Wars figures and Action Man (GiJoe) and other toy lines. I am not totally surprised, just never seen it before.

    • @wellchuffedrailways
      @wellchuffedrailways  2 года назад +1

      Hi Anthony, Mainline was Palitoys UK model railway brand. The models ran from 1976 until around 1984 when the top people at Palitoy decided there was no future in the UK model railway scene! Bachmann took over the rights from Kader the Chinese manufacturing co (it's a long story ) and the rest is history. The products were far superior to the UK made Hornby products of the time and Mainline/Palitoy really forced Hornby to up their game detail wise. Thanks for watching Anthony. 🚂☮️😀

    Some good stuff there. Went to a fair here in Suffolk this morning and picked up a pair of modern Hornby Pannier tanks (one DCC), Hornby Railroad 14xx, and some Mainline red and cream MK1s.

      Hi it's good to get a bargain! It pays to have a good look around doesn't it as prices vary massively. It's not unusual to see some boxed items cheaper than unboxed on the next stall! Of course the deciding factor is how much each trader paid for the items. Thanks for watching. 🚂☮️😀

    • @trainman665

      @@wellchuffedrailways Definitely. I paid £28 for the pair of Panniers. Next stall had a much older one at £32.50!

    The prices on quite a lot of the things you've shown there didn't look too bad . Have to say I'm not a fan of tender drives , they don't have the same power of a loco drive , I have a few tender drives and even upgrading the motors, they still seem very weak , trouble is as well , there's very little room to add any extra weight .

    • @wellchuffedrailways
      @wellchuffedrailways  2 года назад

      Hi Geoff, yes I agree I'm not a fan of tender drive either. It was a shame when Hornby switched from loco drive to the Ringfield. It was purely a financial decision which had no upside whatsoever. Thanks for watching Geoff. 🚂☮️😀

    great expo at the station... hope Bobbie wasn't to frightened by the High vests? I have an Ivatt 2 too, made 1975 (almost as old as me) runs like new... Nice one .🚂😎👍🏻☀️🚃🚃Neil

      Hi Neil, Bobby seemed ok with the Hi-Vis but it's a different matter at home when the postman comes round in his! The Ivat is a nice loco and one I have been after for some time. I think this one is one of the last as it was supplied with crew and vacuum pipes. It runs on ok but would benefit from a clean. 75 was the first year of production and they were manufactured until 1980 but sold until 82 according to the Hornby book. Thanks for watching and have a good week. Cheers Rick 🚂☮️😀

      @wellchuffedrailways  2 года назад +1

      Hi no I didn't! I think it was just a dummy car. The loco i bought is a good runner and I bought a few more bits. All will be revealed in our new vlog. We have tried filming a round up of what we buy after the show but we were unhappy with it. In the vlog we will give more info on our best purchases including production dates and numbers and comparing the price to what is currently on eBay etc. Plus we can run anything we have bought) We will also publicise out forthcoming exhibitions, open days and toyfairs. We think this will work better than adding a bit on the end of the video and be more informative. Thanks for watching PS I have an old Hornby HST but would like another in Inter-City executive or Swallow livery. 🚂☮️😀

    That was a very nice visit to Carnforth Railway Station and the Model Railway Exhibition. Thank you Rick, Pauline and Bobby, who was very patient and well behaved. Bobby says “thank you for carrying me some of the time, so that I could see the exhibits better - it gets a bit boring looking at all the different feet, though I thought yours smelled better than some of the others. Also I’m only little and it gets a bit chilly with my small body mass, and I do like being cuddled in your arm - and what a perfect view?!”. You picked up a nice 2-6-0 engine too! Is that a Mogul class? I remember I had a Bassett-Lowke catalogue as a kid. I was so proud of it that I gave it a hand-crafted brown paper cover with Title and owner, written in large outlined font and carefully shaded. In it there was, amongst other items, an “0” gauge steam fired Mogul locomotive, which I used to drool over, but would never be able to afford. You could be lucky enough to find one still, and you may even be able to buy it with a suitable mortgage loan, 💷💷☹️. Even the clockwork ones sell for up to thousands of pounds! I think that your bargain is a great buy in comparison 😊. Well done! Take care of each other and stay safe! 😀🍦 🍰☕️🚂🚘☮️😀

      Hi Arthur Bobby is very patient even when Pauline was cutting his hair the other day, he looks much more like a Chihuahua now. I couldn't possibly comment on what he smells wandering round the shows but he seems happy enough, the only problem we have is people can't see him so he can get trodden on if we are not careful. He actually loves all the attention he gets at the shows and is very well behaved, he is very calm which he isn't at home believe me (he does need his coat though)
      The loco i picked up is a Ivatt 2MT a loco I have been after for some time. It was introduced by Hornby in 1975 and was their first steam loco to be fitted with glazing. I've little knowledge of Basset Lowke although I did see a feature on them in a model railway documentary some years ago. I don't think we will be picking any up on a bargain hunt! I remember the Wrenn catalogue I got from Norman Wissenden models in Greenfield when I was around 10 years old, I cherished that and when i returned to modeling Wrenn locos were top of my list and i'm lucky enough to now own some. We will now be revealing our purchases in a monthly vlog as that way we can give much more detail on what we have bought, prices on ebay for comparison, numbers made and production dates etc. In addition to that we will give a round up of all the shows coming up in the next month so we think this will be more useful for people watching. ALl the best Arthur and thanks for watching as always.

      @@wellchuffedrailways Yes Bassett Lowke we’re always out of my league, but I also loved Wrenn models. They were a little later from memory. Didn’t they get the moulds from Hornby-Dublo for the metal die cast locomotives? I remember that they were very solidly built locomotives with a decent weight to give them good traction. Without the sliding drag of the Hornby-Dublo rail electrical contacts they would have been strong locomotives. I don’t know what they did with the motors, but they may have improved them too. All in all the Wrenn locomotives were really well made I thought, although I never have owned any unfortunately. Good on you for buying Wrenn models if you can get them in good, or repairable condition. The main thing is to get them with a good body and running gear, as you can probably find a motor to fit them. In fact, if you could tailor a good modern chassis and motor to fit the body, all you need to find is the body in good shape. Of course, it would not be a kosher restoration, but it would be a really nice running model locomotive, and with a bit more style, if not all of the detail that is possible with modern plastic moulding technology. Bobby is really well behaved and it’s great of you to take him on outings, where this is allowed. I know it can make your arm feel a bit sore after carrying him for a while, but he really loves being with you. Only carry him for ten minutes then swap or let him move about himself, as he may like to stretch his legs too. Good on you both for including him in your outings where you can. 😀🐶🚂☮️😀

      Hi Mark no cake but we did have a nice lunch at the station cafe and they also do very nice milkshakes! Bobby enjoyed his day but he can get heavy, his nose is good but he struggles to sniff out a bargain! His problem with HI-Viz is he thinks anyone in them is the postman and to be frank he goes crazy when he see the postman! I noticed someone wearing one in our footage but thankfully Bobby didn't see him. An unboxed LIma 87 for £45 sound very expensive to me especially if it was one of the more common liveries. I do think they are one of the best Lima models though. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching. 😀🚂☮
