It made sense how Mileena was introduced in MK1, and how her story turned out. When her existence was driven by Shang Tsung, she was rabid, monstrous, an abomination. But Chosen One Liu Kang's influence, was purer: an actual born twin, that was loved.

I always felt sorry for Mileena in the original plot. It was clear from their first encounter that she only wanted to be loved. But the nature of her origin and her...instinct, made that impossible. And knowing that she is "fake" made her jealous and spiteful. So yes, she is better off this time around, but her need for approval and love is still present.
Not the _same_ Mileena as the one *born* (not engineered) as a member of Edenian royalty to Jerrod and Sindel instead of Shao Khan and Shang Tsung. That some people are incapable of realizing this are 2 _completley different characters_ is both frustrating and laughable.

So far, Liu Kang is a much better Protector of Earthrealm than Raiden ever was.
Liu Kang has learned from Raiden's mistakes and didn't have to deal with Kronika's cycle of restarting the timeline over and over... he broke that *with Raiden's indispensable help.*

Isn't the stuff about a "working merchant" from the _current_ timeline and not the original? I can't recall any piece of evidence to suggest the original Baraka wasn't anything other than a one dimensional henchman of Shao Khan.
@@javiervasquez625 well the original barakka wasnt really all that evil either, he was just looking out for his kind. His alliance with Shao Kahn allowed his people to live, to thrive and be the right-hand race for Shaos empire. Although, when Kotal Kahn came to power, he sought to rid all of shao kahns past alliances, which included eradicating all of the Tarkatan race.
There is really no right side in this scenario, just a loser and a winner, unfortunately, barakka and his race lost.
Baraka and his people didn't really care about conquest, just the longevity of his people, and did that by alliance with shao

Mileena was literally a child mind who was rejected and had to learn how to survive by herself with no guidance but the bad influence of the bad guys. I love the new development of the character, this is what she always deserved to be.
Imma say it because I don't see anyone else mention it but poor bloody Kitana.
In MK9; Kitana spent 10,000 years thinking that Shao Kahn was her father. By the way she speaks about him up until he proves her wrong in the throne room, he must have acted in a fatherly way towards her at some point for her to be so confident that he would have been outraged at Shang Tsung on her behalf. Girl was absolutely shook when he told her the truth. I don't even think it was Jerrod's murder that bothered her as much as learning that the man who raised her for 10,000 years would so easily replace her as his daughter. It was learning that despite her own intense loyalty to him until that point, he didn't care for her one bit. Not only would he be replacing her for his "perfect" new daughter, but he'd be executing Kitana right after. Her life meant that little to Shao Kahn.
Mileena was not only created to replace her but was also loyal to Shao Kahn from the start.
I don't know why people act like Kitana's hatred of Mileena was completely unwarranted pre-mk1 (2023).
No one in their right mind would care for a demented, cannibalistic clone made of them without consent. One would like them even less after finding out their father was replacing them and executing them for said clone.

Thank you for typing this! Mileena fans only hate Kitana because she didn't want to be sisters with her. And somehow everything that happens to Mileena is Kitana fault because she didn't "accept her". This been ongoing for 11 years are people not tired yet?

It's an easy way to see it, if things had been done differently, maybe that cannibalistic clone would help them instead of wanting to kill them, what you say is very good... but why did Liu Kang do this time line like that?? hahaha he knew that Mileena just needed to be loved and that's it, love from the beginning of her family, of course Mileena was a clone and not a real family (but she thought so), but could you also empathize with her? If they had empathized more, I don't know that it would have reached that situation in the previous timelines, here Liu Kang's wise man is showing it.
I really like how they changed the Tarkatans in MK1. Instead of a race that nobody likes, because "omg scary monster eats humans omg", now they have DEPTH. Tarkat is a disease that turns people into bloodthirsty scary monsters, yet they still retain some human characteristics like EMOTIONS.
It’s hard to see Shang Tsung now and NOT hear Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa’s voice. He really made the role his own.
Do you just mean in general? Because neither MK2011 nor MK1 Shang Tsung is voiced by him, his only time voicing him in the games is MK11.
1:50 i find it kinda concerning how Kitana and Jade are just so casual talking to one another while some monks are possibly at the mercy of killer trees.
There are shots in this game where Quan Chi legitimately looks like a real person, these graphics are insane.

Always liked mileena even more in MK1, she’s the empress and a good person
MK is truly in a class of it's own when it comes to quality gaming. I mean, the production values, the character design, the costumes, the acting, the choreography, the story and the writing, even the cinematography, all spot on. And to think, the developers don't even have to go this hard just to release a fighting game, but they CHOOSE to put this much work into it! Amazing. You get a game, you get a damned good movie, you get loads of quality content. Mortal Kombat, as a franchise, is truly the cream of the crop! I am very impressed!

I especially love how much work went into making Outworld feel like its own distinct culture. Unique clothing, architecture, music, customs, it goes a long way towards making the MK world feel lived-in.
They really didn't have to do any of it; we all know what MK is, it's the archetypal ultra-violent fighting game, and details like that don't matter for the setting to work. But they did it anyway, and it's so much better because of it.

Wow I try not to look at so much into games. Mileena now isn't pure evil. She's just messed up and can't control herself. Mileena's character just continues to get better and better as the saga of MK keeps on going. Love the direction of how this reboot will play into her character.

I know Shang Tsung is a sorcerer, not a geneticist, so probably he used magic, but I still wonder how the heck he made a clone of Kitana crossed with Tarkatan DNA _and_ that was considered a true daughter or "spawn" of Shao Kahn.
He might have taken actual dna samples of tarkatans and Kitana to do it

I’m just happy that Mileena in MK1 is no longer just an ugly clone of Kitana, and is her own more fleshed out character who becomes a true leader, has a good relationship with her sister, and that Tanya is no longer the only person who finds her beautiful.

I liked Mileena's original story better, she was created for shao Kahn, as kitana's replacement, but mileena also wanted to be excepted as kitana's sister. Sadly kitana didn't see her as her as family, but I still prefer the original story better, it's a whole lot better than just saying she had a disease. There is something with MK9 that is still far more enjoyable than mk1.
With Mk1 the only thing I enjoyed was Bi han coming back and quan chi. The rest of the story couldnt wait to get it over.
