12 October , 1999 is a day when Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif removed General Pervez Musharraf as COAS and appointed DG ISI General Zia uldin Khawaja as new army chief but military staged a coup and an elected Government was ousted. This interview of Gen Zia ul din by Tarazoo provides a deep insight into that saga.

Nice conduction of interview. A good general who opted not do blood shed and conducted himself with dignity afterward by not denouncing his decisions for which he sustained huge personal financial loss.
Besides saying ‘Defenders of Democracy ‘ please introduce such subjects in the curriculum of JCB, PMA, Staff College n Military War College etc at all levels; this must be inculcated in young officers.
No more un institutional act from Military.

Truely well educated and thoroughly perfect gentlemen and highly professional general never seen in Pak army I'm shocked to hear that all troops turned against him out of no way despite he was having very well decorated career but unfortunately Musharraf did all for power and now he is no more in this realm and he violates the constitution as well offender of many innocents of jamia-e-hafza lal masjid at the end hat's off for this truely patriotic gentleman may Allah blessed you sir.

His decency and humbleness is touching and changed my perception about him which was created over the years by projecting him as an engineer only and a loyal of Nawaz Shareef. His revelations apparently seems to of an honest person.

He is a true nobel man, look at the way he is talking. If he was the COAS in 1999 definitely Pakistan conditions were much much better. He was well prepared and well equipped army chirf indeed.

1. Why did he accept the position even Musharraf was outside of country?
2. Why did he not convince Nawaz to wait and let Musharraf come to Pakistan and ask him in a proper way to resign ?

To avoid military coup, X corp must not be under the direct command of COAS.
And COAS should be the logistic and training chief.
