Of course, Poles celebrate the New Year. But in a bit different way than in the UK. First of all, we party until dawn and don't disappear "in English way" right after midnight.
"In English way" (po angielsku) means to leave without saying goodbye, quietly

like in Poland in every place city or town, they prepare New Year Eve parties in the town centers... with the fireworks show and music concerts for free so usually people go there I think in Wroclaw there should be a lot happening in the main square

In Poland many people do "domówka", which is inviting friends to your home and celebrate together. Everyone is preparing food and buy alcohol. Sometimes it is just for 5-10 people, but sometimes it is for 30 or more 😂
Different option is to go to the club or restaurant. Dance and drink and eat all night :)
Every city has a news year concert. Most od them are free to go. The most popular one is in "Zakopane".
Some people make a trip to mountains (Zakopane) or to the sea (Gdańsk) (Sopot) and celebrate with friends.

using VPN you could see (online TV, live FB, live YT) what scale and scene is set on New Year's Eve in the city of Chorzów and Zakopane (Mountains). Make possible reactions from Sylwester previous years.

Cześć Rob ;) I like that you try to learn about Poland and our traditions. So next you just have to learn about our biggest charity foundation and it's amazing festivals- Wielka Orkierstra Świątecznej Pomocy (WOŚP). Please try for example this film on youtube "History of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation"

My parents in at least couple last years slept through the midnight. I usually stay awake till midnight, watch the fireworks, snap a few pics, wish the closest ones a good year via sms. This year parents stayed awake watching good movie and we all shared a glass of shampagne each and big hugs. It was nice

Types of New Year partying in Poland.
    1) Home with immediate family (watching New Year Tv program)
    2) Home Party with friends, usually at somebody that has big house r big apartment
    3) In the restaurant or club that is organizing New Year party. Restaurant and club is usually aimed for couples and must be reserved and prepaid way before the event, as they have limited and counted space.
    4) Pub/Bar takes in stragglers from the streets that are mostly single or didn't have any plans beforehead, and to limit the crowd inside the access toll is implemented (people usually stay at one place and do not wander around if they pay the toll to get in).
    5) Going outside your everyday living zone (city) to the cottage, ideally either your own or owned by your friends as you do not pay anything extra. It become a trend to own a rural residence, a place to go during holidays or summer vacations.
Alternative for Sylwester in cottage is that you can book a New Year party in the resort, hotel or agrotourism retreat in the mountainous zone.
    6) Most towns and cities in Poland were organizing free open air New Years party in the biggest plaza/square(open area) they had.
For example you have a mentioned Spodek New Year party organized by Katowice, or Kraków with their party on Main Square where people are tightly packed every year. New Year party in Zakopane that became a tradition for being transmitted in TV. There should be public event in Wrocław on their main square.
My little hometown were organizing an event in the open area under big monument build to honor fighters of Silesian uprisings. Nothing fancy, just some music around midnight, some fireworks to welcome New Year and then you go home or to your friends to party till morning.

Today I'm playing Minecraft, watching "Sylwester z dwójką" (there is always some New Years Eve concert with the countdown) and resting after my friends' wedding party yesterday.
    So yeah. Just chillin ^^

I actually spent my best New Year's Eve in Wrocław. I don't know about this year, but in the past there were huge concerts at Rynek, with great music stars, not just the polish ones. We drove to Wrocław with a bunch of my Friends, booked a few hotel rooms nearby and were dancing and having a lot of fun in the open air, together with at least 10.000 other poeple. Atmosphere was so hot, that we ended up with a pile of winter jackets on the ground in the middle of our dancing circle, although the temperature was way below 0. 👍

    - Wincenty Witos - polityk, działacz ruchu ludowego, 3-krotny premier Polski
    - Witold Gombrowicz - wielki powieściopisarz, nowelista, dramaturg
    - Czesław Miłosz - poeta, prozaik, eseista, historyk literatury, tłumacz, dyplomata, laurat Nobla
    - Marek Hłasko - pisarz, scenarzysta filmowy
    - arcybiskup Antoni Baraniak - sekretarz prymasów Polski
    - rodzina Umów - Sprawiedliwi Wśród Narodów Świata, dali schronienie Żydom
    - Polscy Olimpijczycy
    Jeszcze raz szczęśliwego nowego 🎆2🥳0🥂2🎉4🍾!!!

Free outdoor events are organized in large cities, for example concerts. This year, Wroclaw is not organizing a concert because it is too expensive, but every year residents come to the city's main square and celebrate at midnight. Until 2:00 am all bars will be open. Paid events are held at the stadium, but tickets must be purchased in advance. I wish you a pleasant and unforgettable New Year's Eve, Happy New Year

Hey Rob and Charlie. All the best for 2024! I hope the New Year brings you both everything you wish for! I'll be in bed by 9. So I will miss most of the celebrations, thankfully. Going into town (Sydney) has to many complications for my liking. This is always complicated even further if it's stinking hot...and we've had a few of those days already! Hopefully it will be cooler. This will mean we can sleep easier. Over a million people go into Sydney on New Year's so It's not really a nice place to be. Having worked as a police officer on New Years I can attest to how bad it can be.
Anyway, All the best to you guys!

Theres limited ways of new years eve in Poland:
-at home watching new years eve concert on tv
-house party either with family of friends
    - renting (or not if you own one) a house in the mountains
    - an organized party in a restaurant/club/that one place in local area
-going for one of those televised concerts (theyre free)
In smaller cities and country areas the youth rents a firestation to host a party for bigger groups of friends. Firestations in Poland have a big room, a kitchen thing with frigde and microwave, tables amd chairs and sometimes a sound system which is all a 18yo need to throw a party xD
Its also still popular to host 18th birthday parties in those, and, less popular now, weddings.

I don't celeberate New Year, because it's nothing special. It's just another number changing to higher by one. It's the same with an hour, a day, even a second. I don't need excuse to get drunk, because I don't get drunk. I am too smart for that. And resolutions? I can decide what I'm going to do any time of the year, any time of the day. I don't need a fake excuse to have a resolution that I won't keep. If I decide something I do that and I don't need new year for that at all. If I will deicde to never drink coffee again, I would just like that. That being said, I don't do drugs, don't drink alcohol to get drunk or anything so i don't need resolutions in the first place...
Also, I was invited to the party only once in my life, so people doesn't care much about me and I don't care about them either. I won't go to someone's party uninvited. If they don't want me in their life, I don't need them in mine.
It's standard plans probably for her. Some people prefer to spend the time on fresh air. And by fresh air they mean really fresh, not the city's "fresh" air. I think m y sister does the same.
I think in Poland it would be illegal if they charged You only on this day, because it would be considered unfair for consumers. But I may be wrong. I know that European Union has many great consumer-friendly laws, though, some things make even big companies like Steam to hold back, listening to what EU says, though not everything is so great either way, some parts of the law could be improved too. But one of my favorite thing is, while Americans would lose warranty if they modified the device, e.g. rooting Android phone, EU countries wouldn't. You can unscrew everything and as long as You don't break it, warranty is untouched. But they have to prove that the thing broke because of Your action. If they can't prove that, warranty is still working.
As for bar party, I never approved anything like this. It's more of a brat party to me. People who think they are super old, while they are just kids mentally, think this kind of party where You go to the bar and drink whole night is funny. This is literally the most pathetic thing on can do. You want to drink, okay, but go somewhere where You can actually have fun, not just have another drink. That's why I also prefer to spend time at home. Because I don't feel the urge to go drink whole night. That's really really dumb. Nobody is impressed by "kids" doing so. if You just turned 18 and does that, rest assured, I see 8yo kid more mature than You.
I don't know what I will be doing, because I don't treat this day (or night) any different than any other day. I may play some games, watch RUclips videos, maybe even co to sleep. There was once a time, where I went to sleep before midnight. I just don't care. I see nothing special about year changing to a new one. It's just artificial date system created by humans. It's not even something that actually exist. Nothing in the universe changes when the new year begins. Nothing...
