Hi! Wonderful and very informative video! A little curious - how do you maintain your pets’ coats and hygiene during vacation - especially after trips to the beach? I also have a dog and plan to extensively travel with her, hence, asking 😇
Hey there! thanks for watching and appreciating our video :). That's a superb question, it is certainly extremely challenging to keep the kiddos clean during travels but bear in mind that overthinking about it can take the fun out of your holiday. You have to let dogs be dogs, and till the time environment is safe - they should be allowed to get dirty as much as they want. Especially if yours are like our urban apartment dogs who go crazy outdoors. We broadly categorize grooming into 2 categories during our travel: 1) Everyday grooming - We do this daily before heading to bed (even at home), paw and tummy cleaning with a wet towel/wet wipe, and fur brushing and checking for any pests. 2) Disgustingly filthy - We do this when we visit the beach/do hike/ have any kind of water or wet mud playtime - this one may take some time, but practice will make you faster every time. Depending on the levels of dirt, as soon as we return to the accommodation, we either wipe them with a wet towel or give them an ONLY water rinse in the bathroom of our pet-friendly accommodation (cleaning any fur on walls or drain afterward) or if there is an outdoor area/garden it's best to hose down all the dirt and then wipe them properly. We let them dry out in the shade/under the fan. Fur brushing and checking for wounds & pests afterwards. You can also look out for professional spas in the city you are traveling in if your itinerary has only one-off such activities. Nothing more special is required during our time out with our pets so we all can be more relaxed. Once we are back home, we either book a spa appointment or give them a thorough bath at home.
Thank you for such a thorough response! It will be really helpful and I’ll keep the tips in mind while I travel with my furkid. Thanks again. Keep travelling! Cheers! 🥂
