Bismarck lyrics 🎶
From the mist a shape, a ship is taking form
And the silence of the sea is about to drift into a storm
Sign of power, show of force
Raise the anchor battleship plotting its course
Pride of a nation a beast made of steel
Bismarck in motion king of the ocean
He was made to rule the waves across the seven seas
To lead the warmachine
To rule the waves and lead the Kriegsmarine
The terror of the seas
The Bismarck and the Kriegsmarine
Two thousand men, and fifty thousand tonnes of steel
Set the course for the Atlantic with the allies on their heel
Firepower, firefight
Battlestations, keep the targets steady in sight
Into formation, the hunt has begun
Death and damnation, the fleet is coming
He was made to rule the waves across the seven seas
To lead the warmachine
To rule the waves and lead the Kriegsmarine
The terror of the seas
The Bismarck and the Kriegsmarine
At the bottom of the ocean the depths of the abyss
They are bound by iron and blood
The flagship of the navy the terror of the seas
His guns have gone silent at last
Pride of a nation a beast made of steel
Bismarck in motion king of the ocean
He was made to rule the waves across the seven seas
To lead the warmachine
To rule the waves and lead the Kriegsmarine
The terror of the seas
The Bismarck and the Kriegsmarine
To lead the warmachine
Rule the waves and lead the Kriegsmarine
The terror of the seas
Bismarck and the Kriegsmarine
To lead the warmachine
Rule the waves and lead the Kriegsmarine
The terror of the seas
Bismarck and the Kriegsmarine

No need to feel embarrassed. Sabaton has several videos that can reduce fully grown, metal-hardened men to tears.
Thank you, I was tempted not to share the video because of my tears lol but I’m glad I did. 😅
The older gentleman at the beginning holding the pocket compass (not a watch), is the son of the young man rescued at the end of the song.
Ah now that would make sense. Thanks for letting me know.
Welcome to Sabaton family 😊
Thank you! I Feel very welcomed indeed.
@@themetalmuse when the Bismarck appears from the mist i have chills too
@@andreascala2663 so good right!???
@@themetalmuse much more than good.......first time i saw the video it was kind of mooving
@@andreascala2663I get more chills when I see Uprising, Christmas Truce, or 1916
A fun (?) fact is that the German submarine U-556 was being built in an adjacent dock from Bismarck, and the captain wanted to have a band for the commissioning ceremony but could afford one, and the captain of the Bismarck lent them their band. The captain of U-556 then gave the Bismarck a "certificate of sponsorship" that promised to aid the Bismarck at any time, on land, at sea, in the air, or under the waves, and was sworn on the name of Neptune. Obviously, it was supposed to be a funny joke, but the U-556 was the submarine that was tracking the Bismarck during the battle, and despite doing their best, they were out of ammo and almost ran out of fuel and had to abandon the Bismarck :(
Wow I never knew that! I love gems like this.
Try En livstid i krig (live from Gothenburg) don't forget to turn on the subtitles. It's about a young swedish soldier point of view in The Thirty Years' War.
No way!! 30 Years' War, now that's my subject. I did that for my final year at Uni and my dissertation was on the representation of Scots in the 30 Years' War lol........no joke.
@@themetalmuse Second the motion for En Livstid I Krig. It's in Swedish, but I'm sure you'll love it anyway (and as Mickeed said, English subtitles are available). It's listed on RUclips as SABATON - En Livstid I Krig (Live - The Great Tour - Gothenburg).
I have probably watched 20+ reactors do this song and you are LITERALLY the ONLY one that caught onto the compass and its significance between the survivor and the captain. A virtual cookie to you for this.
Thank you for the 🍪 😁
You can find the history behind almost all songs on their sister channel Sabaton history.
I will defo check the channel out. I wasn't aware of it before. So thank you 💖
Just passing through, but if you're looking for a Sabaton video that really knocks the history out of the park and crushes you emotionally, "Christmas Truce" is the way to go. Given your reaction here, you may need to keep a box of tissues handy.
Also, Sabaton puts on an absolutely amazing show. I saw them in October and it was VERY high energy.
I concur! Christmas Truce is a brilliant song and powerful video!
I concur
I concur
Looks like we have a winner, you had me at "emotionally crushes you", let's light that candle!
@@themetalmuse Be sure to watch the official music video. The other versions are good, too, but the official music video is definitely the best one to watch first. Also, be sure to listen all the way through; the song continues during the end credits.
Bring napkins when you watch their videos. Especially No Bullets Fly the animated story that is 8 minutes+
I will be a sobbing mess no doubt! Tissues at the ready.
Christmas truce, and seven pillars of wisdom is my suggestion
Lots of people are recommending Christmas Truce so I think we have a winner. Someone said "bring tissues" and get ready to be "emotionally crushed"......I'm ready!
Nice reaction 🇸🇪..Do 'En livstid i krig, live in Gutenberg, Sweden.....
I suggest Tommy. J, the guitarist, He have a own band Majestica, and on fridays Tommy release a 'new cover/tribute track'..You Will not be disappointed.🇸🇪🇸🇪
I'll go check Majestica out now.
I might have to steal that quote: "I love my history, and I love it when it comes in metal!" (I think that was correct)
🤣🤣🤣🤣
And the drummer is married to Floor Jansen in Nightwish 😎😈🇧🇻
Ok that's kinda an epic power couple!
If you wish to know more about the Battle of the Atlantic, I must recommend the 1960 movie Sink the Bismarck, can be found free here on YT. This movie was one of my inspirations to enlist in US Navy in 1984. I went on to serve in the engine rooms of a Nimitz class carrier.
I like to refer to Sabaton as "Valor Metal."
I’ll defo go watch it. Kinda fascinated now thanks to this video.
@@themetalmuse And you mentioned Ballard and Titanic well there is a tie in from the film 'Sink the Bismark' the star Kenneth More was in a lead role in the movie 'A Night to Remember' also on YT!
King George V was firing, Rodney was firing, Dorsetshire launched torpedos and yet the Bismarck was afloat.
In the end it was the crew that scuttled him to keep him away from the Brits.
Ooooo, controversial statement there
Not really, the Bismarck WAS sinking and had probably taken too much damage to salvage (ironically from the destroyers torpedoes, the big ships had crippled the guns and blown off most of the superstructure but weren't getting far pounding the hull) Admiral Lutjens was worried that He might still be captured and sent a crew to scuttle the ship, the uncertainty comes in because none of them came back. Although the ship DID suddenly start sinking faster so it IS uncertain wether the Bismarck sank from battle damage or from being scuttled (although odds are it was a combination of both)
I'm going to see them for the first time too (Glasgow). Not very familiar with the band up until recently and I'm really excited about it 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 seeing Babymetal and Lordi will be amazing too!!
Hope you enjoy it! I would like to see Babymetal.
@@themetalmuse well Babymetal and Lordi are opening for Sabaton, what's why I mentioned them 🙂
Great reaction video!
Thank you!! 😁
I love sabaton you should do more songs like resist and bite
Both great suggestions!
I've been very narrowly focused on goth/industrial/darkwave/ebm/futurepop/etc... and really didn't listen to metal, including most bands that might be considered goth-metal or industrial-metal (with some exception to stuff like Ministry and Zombie, but that is mostly nostalgia). But, I came across this song and video a few years ago when it came out as part of a World of Warships promotion and was really impressed. I wish this song would come out on CD in a single or album so I can add it to my collection (unless I missed something I think it is just a digital download). This song (and all the Lord of the Lost stuff that I have started listening to in the last year or two) has opened me up to metal...at least a little bit.
Welcome to the metal head club! ❤️
Recomiendo la canción The Last Battle de sabaton brutal ❤❤❤❤
That's getting added to the list ☺️
Hi! I can hear you need to listen to Tommy Johansson (the guy playing the guitar solo). He is a part of Sabaton and has his own band Majestica. He also release one cover every friday on his youtube channel. Amazing stuff! Loved you reaction!
Thank you! I really want to check out Tommy and do a reaction. He’s so skilled 🤘
One of my favorite books is De Vita Caesarum so, yes, another history buff. I just found Sabaton and now I cannot get enough so also checking tour dates. It is hard to convey the emotions of combat and I believe they do so without going excessive except in their attention to detail. Please, never feel embarrassed by your emotions. My grandmother told me that tears are meant to soothe your soul and I agree with her. Keep the tissues handy and PLEASE keep doing videos.
It's so good!😊 and your gran is right 🙂
You had a look at the whatch^^ yes, the boat-rent-guy was the boy from the Bismarck

Over 80yrs but its interesting to see two sides my grandfather was on king george v during final battle.

i little tid bit of info here the man at the beginning who they asked about the boat too was the last surviving crew member of Bismarck he died the same year the song came out
Did he? That's so fascinated and kinda spooky.

The "Bismarck" , and his sister ship "Tirpitz", were the 2 largest battleships ever built in Europe (250 meters long, 36 meters wide, and displacing more than 50.000 tones) and they were the pride of the kriegsmarine (Germany's militari navy) during ww2. The "Bismarck" set sail in May 1941 under the command of admiral Günther Lütjens to reach the Atlantic and destroy merchant convoys, but he was intercepted by the British and during a brief fight, destroyed the former flagship of the British fleet and pride of the Royal Navy, the worldwide famous battlecruiser "Hood", by penetrating her armor and detonating her aft main ammunition magazine and killing all 1400 members of her crew except for 3 men, and heavily damaged the battleship "Prince of Wales". This enraged the prime minister Winston Churcil who ordered all his ships in the Atlantic to abandon their operations and destroy the Bismarck. In total more than 40 ships participated to the hunt, making it the biggest naval hunt in history. Meanwhile Bismarck, who had received a hit during the first battle, was leaking fuel and was trying to reach the French port of Saint Nazaire, in occupied France, for repair. After 3 days of playing cat and mouse with the British, Bismarck was attacked by airplanes launched from the aircraft carrier "Ark Royal" and hit by a torpedo in the stern, which jammed his rudders during evasive manuvers, meaning that he was forced to sail in circles, just a few miles away from reaching air cover. In the end battleships "King George V" and "Rodney", along side the heavy cruisers "Norfolk" and "Dorsedshire" fought the already doomed battleship and, during the following 90 minutes completely destroyed it. However, despite having all his guns destroyed, and having received more than 400 hits (out of the 2800 shells that the British had fired at it) his armor was still mostly intact and the ship was still afloat. So the british launched another 4 torpedoes and he disappeared beneath the waves. After inspection of the wreck however it had been discovered that the torpedoes did no significant damage thanks to the battleship's extensive underwater protection, and that Bismarck had probably been scuttled by his crew (although it should be noted that many historians believe that it would have eventually sunk due to the damage received). Of the 2200 men that served on it only 114 survived
Wow that’s insane! Thanks for the detailed comment 😁⚓️🤘
Going to Glasgow to see them, looking forward to it so much.

Copy, props to @willghezzi
Small funfact, the 105mm Air defense on the Bismarck was too fast to hit the slow airplanes, was too modern on those days.
Wow
sabaton lady of the dark animated story video
Ok, it's going on the list.
Their is a story about Lindemann and Lütjens. When they first were attacked by the british cruisers and battleships that shadowed them, Lütjens told to not return fire. After a few minutes Lindemann said to him: Ich lasse mir mein Schiff doch nicht unter dem Arsch wegschießen( I will not let them blow my ship away under my ass). basically defying direct order from an admiral and engaging HMS Hood and HMS Prince of Wales
🤩
Keep going 🎉
Good reaction. In regards to "facts known about the Bismarck", i was surprised that in your list the reason why they royal marine threw everything they had at the Bismarck was missing. In the battle of the denmark straight, the Bismarck sunk the british flagship battlecruiser "Hood" within the first few minutes, sending probably the biggest shock and upset of the war through the british population. Second, you said multiple times "there she goes" - the Bismarck is referred to as "he". I know that it's confusing, since german ships usually were referred to with "she" - but the Bismarck is the exception. That's why they sing "he was made to rule the waves across the seven seas" - "he" refers to the ship. The Bismarck was scuttled three days after the battle of the denmark straight, after a relentless bombardement from torpedo bombers and multiple ships - he was hit by more than 400 british shells from two british battleships and multiple destroyers and cruisers at point blank range, as well as multiple torpedo hits. The ship was reduced to rubble but refused to sink until the km sailors scuttled she ship.
Wow, thank you for all that detail. I love getting more insight into these historical events.
I enjoyed your reaction immensely. You're in for a few great videos. My favourite of theirs is the Animated Story Video for a song called Night Witches. The story is amazing, as is the one behind their Animated Story Video of the song No Bullets Fly. Personally, I would love to see you react to some Nightwish too, they're my favourite symphonic metal band, and as another commenter posted, Sabaton's drummer Hannes is married to Floor, Nightwish's current singer.
I’ve got some nightwish lined up 😁😁😁 thanks for the lovely feedback.
watch video again and follow the compass. Guy that found a boat for Sabaton had a compass in his hand. middle of video the capten had a compass in his hand giving it to a young guy that got rescued. the old man in grandson of the guy getting rescued from Bismarck with captens compass. true story
Funny you should watch my reaction to Sabaton's 1916, at the end I talk about a relative who fell at Ypres and we still have his compass, sadly it's so shiny and new because he fell so early on and so young.
Nice reaction❣️👍 .. and no need to apologize. Firstly coz empathetic and heartfelt reactions are inherently much better. So that's actually a real strength. Secondly coz we all have quirks, and that's what makes us charming. A tiny bit lisp is like a beauty mark. Just like Joakim's (singer in Sabaton) slight Swedish accent. Compared to Sean Connery's Scottish 'sscchhh' sounds, we all sound completely normal 😜.
A small suggestion would to balance your audio so that the music has the same volume as your commentary. My guess would be about +6dB louder music.
And as for suggestions. Just like others allready have commented, both Sabaton as well as the solo stuff by the guitarist Tommy Johansson (on RUclips), offer fantastic stuff for reactions. If you're up for more really emotional songs, then 'No bullets fly' (animated music video), 'En livstid i krig' (live Gothenburg, Swedish version with English subtitles on!) or 'Christmas truce' (official music video) are all top candidates for reactions.
As for Tommy, 'She's Gone' Steelheart, 'Phantom of the opera' or just about anything he has posted is great. Good luck and happy reacting 🤘😎
Ok, I really need sound support. I have no clue how to do this. I was just chuffed the Rode mic was playing nice with my headphones. I use OBS. Anyone got help please get in touch and you can coach me through this. I want to make better content for you wonderful metal heads 🤘
Thank you for the comment on the lisp. But it is driving me bonkers. Each time I get a new tray it comes back way worse lol.
Thank you for the awesome suggestions. I am literally now sat with a notepad taking down song titles everyone is putting forward.
@@themetalmuse Don't mention it. About audio, i guess there are a few different ways. I'll 1st attach a link to 'the fancy way', that lets you record to different 'scenes' or 'tracks'. That means the audio and or video will be recorded to different files/scenes. And then you can mix and edit them and adjust/balance audio volume seperatly when editing. ruclips.net/video/L4jkRYz6t14/видео.html
@@themetalmuse The easy way is just to select different 'sources' and use the sliders under each audio level indicator (green flashing lines) to balance the audio levels directly on your recording. Ciao Bella, Beautiful song, Beautiful reaction. Bye

Another "not fun" fun fact about Bismarck is the story of "Unsinkable Sam", the ship cat... it survived the sinking of "Bismarck", then sailed on the British Destroyed "Cossack", that got sunk by a submarine, was then the ship cat of "HMS Ark Royal".. just to get sunk with that AGAIN.. after that he was not adopted by another ship anymore but lived in Dublin till he passed in 1955 ^^
LOL at the “not fun” fun fact 😂😂🤣🤣

My Grandpa served on a Mine-Layer in the Royal Navy during World War Two. What kind of ship did your Grandfather serve on?

Little correction for you, although someone wrote it here already, but most of ships have women name, so they are considered females, but Bismarck is named after german chancellor Otto Von Bismarck, and das the ship is male as an honor to Otto.
The Bismarck was considered curse it had a male's name and not a female's name so I've read and heard about the Navy superstitions
Fun fact: The US Navy rarely gave the big battleships and cruisers "People" names, instead naming those ships after US cities and states. The USS Arizona, located at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and USS Missouri, are but two examples. The Missouri, which was the longest-serving US battleship, served from World War II, all the way until after the First Gulf War in 1991. A couple of fun facts about USS Missouri: 1) The Missouri and Wisconsin are the only two ships to carry nuclear-tipped battleship gunnery shells during the 1980s. 2) The USS Missouri was the ship on whose deck the surrender of Japan was signed on 15 August 1945.
Just one little note of correction: while most ships are 'she', Bismarck is specifically a 'he'. "King of the Ocean" and whatnot. :)
Bismarck was reffered as HE
See above comments, someone beat you to this already.
More volume on the video please .
what happended to the rest of the video?

Tell me how to put 1000 likes? You, Lady, perfectly prepared for the reaction to this video clip. You know the history of this ship. Therefore, you understand what this song is about. Only a few reactionaries also rated this video. Others - like fools - sit and only shake their heads...
For me, this clip is the most epic moment - when Bismarck emerges from the fog of the sea and at the same time from the fog of history.
Great reaction.
