As most people caught, Kendrick was talking about culture and Drake kept jumping to race. Every time he mentions race, it’s weird. Calling Ross racist. No black Perron accuses another Black person of that. There’s an anecdote that he has about the first time of experiencing racism was from African Americans. And then his awkward mentions slavery. He’s separating himself from us in those moments.

Word! He's Canadian! He don't know nothing about what Black Americans went through, how we grew up, and the abject poverty that inspired hip hop. He's an actor that fooled the world for 16 years! This is gonna expose how the music industry is using hip hop to destroy our kids while their young and impressionable. Example: Sexy Red. "My coochie pink, my booty hole brown" 😢

Family Matters is a comically ironic song in hindsight. The Pop Out was not only a great concert, uniting moment and coronation for Kendrick, it was the repudiation of the allegations Drake made. Kendrick's family was there. PgLang was there TDE was there. YG was there 😅
I think Drake should've scrapped this record as soon as he heard euphoria. That 6.5 minute song was laser focused on him alone. There was no mistaking who the target was. Meanwhile, you can be forgiven for not even knowing who Drake is rapping/singing about in Family Matters sometimes. He wanted to match euphoria with a long song with multiple beat switches, but the issue is he didn't seem to have enough to say to or about Kendrick in that time that he filled it with shots to other people who he frankly could and should have ignored in favor of the biggest threat.

Great video as always brothers. For me though, I'm the kind of guy who has never sat down and listened to Drake when I'm by myself listening to music. I've listened to Drake a lot, but because it was playing wherever I was at that time. My relationship with his music was always that he'd be there in the background at social events.
I say this, because going into this whole beef, I really thought Drake was gonna do better than he did. Even his best lines in Family Matter feel weak as hell now that we have more context. Feel like that was part of a strategy of trying to take bite off of Kendrick’s eventual attack angles (just like with AI Tupac mentioning the “young children” thing). Think the way Drake was approaching it was that if he could get ahead of Kendrick’s attacks first, he could blunt their impact. It didn’t work at all, but I think that’s what he was going for.

The fact that he hyped it up as if it was the decisive win, the nuke, he was leaning into it as if he had an Ether lying in his back pocket. Family Matters is an okay song that ages like milk. But the worst thing is that it isn't worthy of all the hype that Drake pushed it for leading up to its release. It wasn't an Ether. It wasn't a nuke. I don’t look at Kendrick as being a hater… imagine you really write all of your bars and the so called #1 rapper in the world simply doesn’t write all his bars but has the nerve to claim that spot. Any true lyricist would feel a type of way and take shots. It’s simply just competition not jealousy/hate. Kendrick best selling album “DAMN” didn’t have any real shots towards Drake so that angle is kinda mute. Gkmc didn’t have any shots towards Drake and that’s one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time. This battle was the machine vs the embodiment of the culture. Simply real vs fake. Kendrick has shown he can do what Drake does at a high level but Drake cant do what Kendrick does. The "you say your brother Jermaine
But you wanted him to stay out of the light" line is even more insane when you take into account that MJ and Jermaine had a legit public beef with Jermaine accusing Mike of trying to undermine his album by stealing producers from him (i.e. BabyFace and LA Reid) to work on Mike's Dangerous album (something LA Reid confirmed in an interview). Jermaine even dropped a diss song on Mike. To Drake's credit, that was a crazy double entendre.

@@wearedecyphered I stopped listening to Drake long before this beef because of his mediocre music, he had a chance to prove himself and he’s still producing mid music with his career on the line. The set of disses he dropped are some of the worst songs of his career (including TM and pushups) I genuinely don’t like the song outside of the beef stuff, but the beef stuff doesn’t help as his disses were mediocre nothing scathing was said and nothing held up, I’m not a fan of UK beats so that was an automatic L for me, the first part is catchy but his flow is so basic and there’s no hard punches other the “little k” line. The last verse sounded the best but his bars were so wack from dissin MJ and it was contradicting (talks about being a pop star and rapping for whites to Kendrick lol). Even for Drake standards it just showed his lack of lyrical ability at this point of his career, it’s funny people call k dot and cole boring But love the monotone abc flow from this Drake, and he really lacks from creativity in his music, even this song. Imo I don’t think any of drakes disses were better than ANY of Kendrick’s disses and I’ll die on that hill. The two differences in approaches was telling.
For Kendrick, every diss whether we enjoy them or not it was for Drake and Drake only. I don't think Kendrick really cares for others approval, just be objective if you are talking about the diss records.
For Drake, he's such a egomaniac that even when trying the "little bro" or "I made you seen" approach. He in his mind was thinking as long as I have public questioning Kendrick's persona I win. Even if I'm not going bar-for-bar with him me referencing his closest friend and wife will get the public on my side. If I rap over the craziest beat possible the public will be on my side.
My biggest conclusion on his L was me watching the opinions of Women on the feud. Whether your on here, TikTok or Twitter many of them had some great thoughts on the feud.

Being from the WC, I am definitely biased towards Kendrick. BUT, I didn’t think Drake was even a worthy opponent until I heard Family Matters. In particular, that part over the drill beat is wild-I don’t think most rappers could even flow over that beat, but Drake demolished it. At this point, I think Drake’s greatest gift is how well he adapts his flow to different sounds. So, I definitely give him props for a great song. However, on replay, my personal favorite petty observation about the song is that Drake put on the best American Blaccent he’s ever produced during that song. It is very wild to me that he intentionally dips in & out of his invented Blaccent whenever it suits him.

When you go through any of drakes disses its very easy to pick each bar apart and disprove most of them. Drakes biggest angle was the DV and dave free being the father, but as you can tell they are all happy at the pop out. I expected better from drake tbh dude really is a out of touch manipulator

Hold up what ?? KDot was first mentioning families drake retaliated . Drake hit KDot hard because they keep talking about his lightness yet the spouse is light and he cheated on her with white . Top did try to rob KDot Father at the fastfood spot . Drake didn't really want to smash him he got info that's simply it.

Drake mentioned families first! Drake went hard because he looked at it as a way to “win” DoT went low, then Drake went lower with Family Matters, after that Dot took it to hell.

I’m a little disappointed that you all are impressed by these nursery rhyme rap schemes. Inflation, ovation, dedication, celebration… who is he, Dr. Seuss?? 😂😂 this song is trash

@@TheWaveClub - lol so 11 year old Keem wrote GKMC and at 13, wrote TPAB - damn, by that definition, the big 3 should be Keem, Kendrick and J Cole. Drake gets excluded because he lost too many rap battles😂😂
