Sadly this whole idea violates the torah that says you shouldn't have others around you do work either. JUst read the passages in the written torah. Says so clearly. THe other issue is non-Jews who take on this role usually do it and think very little of Jews. It fits their stereotype that the Jewish laws are just laws without any heart. Especially as a minority group in the USA that Jews don't even have some humility that they are playing to a stereotype that some non-Jews don't mind playing and then saying bad things about Jews to their children and neighbors it is very sad. Of course in the state of Israel Shabbas in a more helathy way then in the USA because people can't even play this game as 80% of the population is Jewish and the Sabbath is the countries major day off of the week.
