Kuroki was truly the smartest out of the wole tournament, he mostly used his Devil's Spear in the previous rounds that way he mantained hidden the most of his cards while drawing fear and attention to his Spear. He knew that a tournament is a big picture and not only a bunch of fights one after another
Kanoh focused hard on countering and breaking the devil lance that he did not anticipate how many times he will get elbow striked
Exactly he maintained keeping his arsenal hidden and using the basics while just using one technique ( the devil lance ) really it's all he needed till the serious battles.

it used to be bug me at first that plot armor doesnt exist in kengan ashura. But then again Beard has the best style in the whole tournament. The ability to parry all attacks and use the perfect counter at the perfect time.

He’s actually the least interesting character. Maybe thats why the writer allowed him to win. But this anime essentially had no point. It’s just about brawling and martial arts. The story is absolute trash. But glorious fights.
After kanoh vs gaolang, this is simply the best fight of all the tournament
I would put cosmo vs akoya up there as well. Kengan fights have lots of brutality but out of all of them, that fight had the most disturbing vibe to it because of how sick akoya was torturing cosmo like that but the kid managed to win. His willpower is one of the biggest in the series

Like what Guts explained to Isidro in Berserk when sparring with him. Don't worry so much about "special secret" moves when the very basics of combat are what you'll be using 90% of the time. Kuroki Gensai is the prime example of a man who has mastered these "basics" to an ungodly degree and it was more than enough for him to win the tournament. A tournament filled with geniuses, monsters, Kings and Demons.

Despite kengan having lots of exaggerated attacks. What I like about kuroki is that his moves are pretty basic (besides the devil lance and bone bonding) and they work against all his opponents. Since the man has been training his craft for so long he is incredibly strong and experienced applying those basic moves to anything. A good example is when he was fighting setsuna and the psycho kept attacking from different angles with all sorts of crazy attack names and kuroki is just BLOCK, PARRY, BLOCK, PARRY. Lesson to be learned here is that anything you wanna be good at, whereas be working out, instrument, sport, language etc. you always must master the basics.
The Devil Lance is just a Nukite (spearhand) from Karate. The only difference is he can pierce hard points with it where in reality you'd use it for soft points like the throat and eyes. Bruce Lee advocated for a Nukite to the eye as a counterattack in striking, which you can actually see used against eyes a lot in the UFC by rule-breaking fighters, especially Jon Jones.
Kuroki didn't have to do him like that at the end, man was finished falling face first to the ground already dreaming of the future and Kuroki landed his most devastating strike legit a fucking cannon point blank to his face... RIP

This fight was great. There was a lot of sketchy animation this season but at least they seemed to save it for non fight scenes.

I remember reading the manga and I couldn't believe Agito was defeated. What a fight.
My friend said its. Going to be omega saga if this dose well..... If it does well ? what do you mean if ? You all remember that we had to wait three or maybe 4 years for the second season of kangen asura to drop ? We sat back wondering who is going to win the tournament. Knowing we could have just read the manga but we didn't want to ruin the surprise for ourselves. I'm pretty sure that is enough to say there is gonna be a sequel.

@@Hawken123Phone Kuroki won because of his experience, he found out the time when Kanoh switched from formless style to martial arts, not because he overwhelmed him at first place. That detail gave Kuroki the victory.
Impressive performance by my goat kanoh but if you see all kuroki other fights you would learn that kuroki fighting style is defensive and he mostly lets his opponent attack alot at the start then counter attack.
