The lyrics you were looking for:
      Finlandia Hymni
Oi Suomi, katso, sinun päiväs koittaa,
yön uhka karkoitettu on jo pois,
      ja aamun kiuru kirkkaudessa soittaa
      kuin itse taivahan kansi sois.
Yön vallat aamun valkeus jo voittaa,
      sun päiväs koittaa, oi synnyinmaa!
      Oi nouse, Suomi, nosta korkealle
      pääs seppelöimä suurten muistojen,
      oi nouse, Suomi, näytit maailmalle
      sa että karkoitit orjuuden
ja ettet taipunut sa sorron alle,
      on aamus alkanut, synnyinmaa!
      In English
Finland, behold, thy daylight now is dawning
The threat of night has now been driven away
The skylark calls across the light of morning
The blue of heaven lets it have its way
And now the day the powers of night is scorning:
Thy daylight dawns, O Finland of ours!
Finland, arise, and raise towards the highest
Thy head now crowned with mighty memory
Finland, arise, for to the world thou criest
That thou hast thrown off thy slavery
Beneath oppression's yoke thou never liest
Thy morning's come, O Finland of ours!

Sibelius was always very popular in Canada. His music was inspired by the history of his country, but also by its landscape. Finland is a land of lakes and forests that looks almost exactly like much of Quebec and Ontario. For that reason, when Finns came to Canada, they often settled in places like Sudbury and Thunder Bay. The Finns often formed close bonds with Canada's First Nations, and often intermarried with Cree, Ojibway, Metis and French Canadian families because they felt a similarity to them, all being "people of the forest" used to cold winters, hard work, and hard play. Where I grew up, the Cree elders often said that the Finns were "just like us" because they use the Sauna, which is exactly the same as our Sweat Hut.
Finlandia is not the official national anthem of Finland, but it is the one piece of music that is the most closely associated with Finland. It calls up the same emotions that Félix Leclerc's "Mon Pays" does.
Finland is a country with two official languages. The majority speaks Finnish, but a minority speaks Swedish. Sibelius was born into a Swedish-speaking family, but he was fluent in both languages, and eventually learned several European languages. Much of his music draws on ancient Finnish mythology, and the poems of the Kalevala, which is a long epic made from traditional stories, which involve gods, goddesses, heroes and spirits of the forest.

Here's a rudimentary translation of the lyrics, they are hopeful but refer to the night, slavery and oppression:
O Finland, look, your day is dawning,
The threat of night has been banished,
And the lark of morning in the brightness sings,
As if the sky dome itself was ringing.
The powers of night are vanquished by the morning light,
Your day is dawning, O homeland.
O rise, Finland, raise up high
Your head, wreathed with great memories.
O rise, Finland, you showed to the world
    That you drove away slavery,
And that you did not bend under oppression,
Your morning is beginning, O homeland.

This song has always been my favorite song and favorite classical music peace since I was a child hearing it the first time. The build up is amazing and all the feelings it conveys. The change in the atmosphere with every chapter and how it twines to each new instrument. The buildup is something that I can feel in my skin. And then comes the choir quiet at start but building up power till the end every word carrying deep meaning giving the song even more weight. I have never stopped feeling strong emotion while listening to this.

The "My Song" lyrics are not the right words for the Finlandia. It's different song. My Song words are for an American church hymn, which uses the Finlandia hymn melody. Finlandia hymn's lyric are about Finnish history and how it survived the Russian opression to be an independent nation.

Those are not the (original) lyrics of Finlandia. If I had to guess, I'd guess those are the lyrics of American church hymn, witch is Finlandia music with new lyrics.
Lyrics of Finlandia (aka Finlandia Hymn):
Oi Suomi, katso, sinun päiväs koittaa,
yön uhka karkoitettu on jo pois,
    ja aamun kiuru kirkkaudessa soittaa
    kuin itse taivahan kansi sois.
Yön vallat aamun valkeus jo voittaa,
    sun päiväs koittaa, oi synnyinmaa!
    Oi nouse, Suomi, nosta korkealle
    pääs seppelöimä suurten muistojen,
    oi nouse, Suomi, näytit maailmalle
    sa että karkoitit orjuuden
ja ettet taipunut sa sorron alle,
    on aamus alkanut, synnyinmaa!
On the fly translation of the previous:
Oh Finland, look, your day will dawn,
the threat of the night has been banished,
and the morning lark is playing/singing brightly
    like (whole) heaven was ringing-sounding.
Morning light defeats the nights powers,
your day will come, oh land of birth!
Oh rise, Finland, lift up high,
your head wreath by grand memories,
oh rise, Finland, you showed the world
    that you banished the slavery
and didnt bend under the oppression
your morning has begun, land of birth!

Those lyrics you looked up are not the lyrics of Finlandia. At some point in history someone took the melody of Finlandia and turned it into a church hymn and those are the lyrics to that. Also, Finlandia is not the national anthem of Finland. Technically speaking Finland doesn't have an official national anthem, but the song 'Maamme' that you looked up after listening to Finlandia is considered the de facto national anthem. Finlandia is a very beloved and extremely important song though and there are many people who would love to have it as the national anthem. I personally think it's too important to be played at every sporting event and other such occasions so I'm happy with 'Maamme' being the de facto national anthem.

Max & Sujy, this is a piece that was composed by Sibelius while living under Russian occupation, years after Russia had invaded and subjugated Finland, deporting thousands of Finns to Siberia. (Much like what Putin is doing to Ukraine right now.)
The music is about the Finns overcoming Russia's brutal occupation and Finland regaining its independence, even when there appears no hope of doing so.
