I just made a goal of leaving one video a day for one year and see what happens: book reviews, writing advice, book hauls, etc. And always remain positive. The first hundred subscribers took FOREVER! The next 9400 subscribers literally piled on fast.
omg yes people don’t realize how much a comment means to a creator…i love getting comments and chatting with people, it’s my favorite part of booktube so far
Commenting on other people's videos is one of my FAVORITE parts because, as a booktuber myself, I know I like getting comments and so I like spreading the love :)
I’ve been wanting to start a channel since I found booktube about 5 years ago but I can’t get over the anxiety of starting. With Realmathon and Orilium last month, participating in the discord has alleviated some of that so I’m hoping to put myself out there soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻
I wish you the best and hope you start whenever you're ready. I started mine a few days ago and similar to you, it was stressful since I have really bad anxiety, but it's been fun to make up ideas and talk about books finally with others. Do things you enjoy, and talk to people who are also new. They're so supportive and amazing. I've met a lot of new booktubers through it. I hope you start making videos soon and if you ever do, I'll be keeping an eye out 🥰 Regardless the community is here for you
Loved this breakdown! I’m new to book tube and this video just made me so pumped to connect with other bookish creators!!! Thanks girl! Excited to be a new subscriber and connect even more! ❤
This was a really great video. You brought up many points that I haven't seen other BookTubers mention. Your love for the community really shines through in your videos and I look forward to watching more of them. Thanks! 😎📚👍
as a new creator on booktube, it's really discouraging to put so much time & effort trying to be accepted into the community you love and want to be a part of & then consistently being rejected by the algorithm. this video gave me a little hope. I don't have many friends in real life that read, so booktube is my outlet & comfort. 💖 thanks so much for sharing your advice ☺

Thank you for this video, I really enjoy how genuine and down to earth you are. I've been making notes 😂 wish me luck. This is the first video of yours I've seen but I 100% agree with the "be yourself and personality" side of things - after only 30 seconds I was drawn into your video/channel because of your "vibe" so yea I totally get that. Thank you for this video and your time. I'm off to have a nosey through your channel ♡ xx
Dang it You Tube hid this comment from me. So happy you enjoyed it. And yes start a channel. It's honestly such an amazing community!! 💛💛💛 if you have any questions feel free to ask
I might became a book tuber someday, so this is very helpful. always enjoy all your videos. and the fact that you only post videos you enjoy makes you one of my favorite book tubers!
i agree with you! this is one of the nicest communities. i used to be "friends" with some of the makeup community and it was like being in a race. who's better than who, who has more subs, who has more views...it sucked the fun straight out of the reason why i wanted to get on youtube, to meet people and find friends. Everyone that i have interacted with about books has been super nice!! 💙💙
Thanks for this video, its super helpful! I have a small booktube/studytube channel and Ive been trying to find ways to grow but my biggest challenge is ideas for videos that don't take ages to produce... I have so many reading vlog ideas but they just take so long! I need more sit down video ideas but going to other people's channels is a great tip. Thanks!
There were so many great tips in this video that I'm definitely gonna put to use! I've think I've watched multiple "grow your channel" videos but this was actually gave me something really useful! so THANK YOU FOR THAT💕
I love this thank you! I've started filming but not doing anything else, I do want to be brave and start a channel. I'd love to know more about editing though
Thanks for making this video. It was really helpful. Sometimes it's easier to post and ghost as a busy mom. But you have shown me I need to invest time in this if I want to have a successful channel. 😍
🎥 these are great tips thank you! I have been looking at channels I admire to try and figure out which videos are most popular with the booktube community. I started a tbr game and they are my most popular videos! Need to buy more books for a book haul next 😂😂 thank you! I'll be researching this video!
I sometimes think about starting a book tube channel and my daughter is always telling me I should but I think it would take up too much of my reading time. Thanks for the tips I might record a few practice videos too see how long it takes.
These are good tips! I’ve thought about creating a booktube a couple times in the past but my anxiety said no, thank you. Maybe someday I’ll get to the point where I can work past that. 😂
Thank you for making this video! It was very helpful. I started a channel recently (less than 100 subs), and trying to create my channel, and trying to find my audience, so this helped.
The timing of this is impeccable 👌 I read almost everything so I don’t have a niche which makes it difficult to know my demographic. I’m too chaotic to read in one genre 🥲😂 though I don’t mind at all. I’ll see over time where it takes me.
Yeah its a little harder since most people lean towards a genre just a little bit more then others! BUT I know I enjoy watching creators who read more then one genre! I think your demographic will change to an age group, + gender. A little harder to grow cause you aren't relying on like fantasy or romance. BUT still plausible! Lots of people out there read multiple genres! (which in turn is kinda your demographic) also could be a demographic on video types, some channels target an audience who like to watch reviews for example, others do more vlogging content.
@@CoverswithCassidy HAHA No worries I honestly appreciate it! Fantasy and Fantasy Romance are my favourite genres so if those are popular I'd be more than happy to focus on those. I just wouldn't want to be doing primarily horror, contemporary, etc (genres I only read occasionally) so I might use that to my advantage. I still want to read everything though, that'll never change. Thanks for the feedback Cas 🥰
Thank you for making this video, it actually means a lot to hear your thoughts on starting Booktube! I started making videos last June, but fell out of it after a few months because it felt overwhelming (I even started making other videos instead and then quickly stopped that haha). You actually inspired me to write down some video ideas that I might record this weekend, and I started vlogging this week! So thank you, it means a lot :)
Thank you so much for the tips! I started this year with my booktube channel and to be honest it's not going very great! 🤣 I do have the best time making the videos and connecting with the people who do watch my videos! I also watch other people's videos but most videos are more than 20 minutes so 6 videos a day is my max. 😂😂
Thank you for the nice advice! This is really helpful! ☺The Booktube community has been very kind to me so far, I made so many new friends unexpectedly🥰I agree that authenticity is of major importance and I do enjoy the "process of the torture"😅📸📷🎥
This was incredibly helpful Cass! I’m just getting started and honestly this came at the perfect time! It’s been really cool watching your channel grow so dramatically this year💕
Lots of good food for thought! I love hearing about all the considerations that go into your content. I haven’t thought about some of this stuff before but definitely will now. ALSO that white paper trick?! 🤯
obviously some of my thought process is not needed or necessary but just things I think about hahaha... ITS SO CHEAP AND SIMPLE TOO ... makeup you tubers use it a lot cause it helps make your skin look nicer
Such a helpful video! Thanks for sharing all your advice!❤️ It’s so cool that you’ve worked with so many fun brands! You are totally right about the personality thing because I do not read very much fantasy (I’m trying to get more into it slowly) but I still watch all your videos even though I’m not reading very many of the same books as you!
Thank you so much!! Yes, I obviously have people I watch for books, but if I love someones personality their content is just so fun to watch! also thank you for watching my videos, I hope fantasy steals you soon!!!!
Hi. New to booktube. The tip of the white paper for better lighting is awesome. Thanks. My challenge is identifying my audience when I have 45 subscribers 😫😀 looking to grow and share my insight in 5-minute book reviews.
I've been struggling with the lighting in my videos, mainly that it can be inconsistent depending on what book/thing I'm holding up etc. I understand the concept of how light bounces and now that you suggest to keep a white paper or similar below when filming it just seems so frekaing obvious! Like the obvious solution! Someone you just need to hear someone else say the thing, so thank you!
Ooh when you mentioned you were thinking of doing this I was super intrigued about what you would say! I will say my one suggestion for starting out is Booktube Newbie Tag! Do it and then search it and get to know the people who joined the same time (I still talk to people who I met through this). Though do be aware some bigger creators (1-3k) will look these up and comment things like “welcome. Can’t wait to see what you post next. You should subscribe to me” and you will never see them in your comments again 😂
The comment thing! I love when I get comments. Even if its just people leaving the emoji I mentioned cuz to me at least it shows they cared enough to watch the video and leave even that comment. I too am trying to get better about commenting. It can be hard sometimes when my anxiety is high, which is why i liked creators who mentioned the emoji and started doing it myself as that was something I could do even when anxiety was off the charts. The main reason I like comments/commenting is that I am here cuz I want people to talk to about books! I love to read and wanted to find people who loved to read as well! I was for sure anxious going in but have found nothing put positive and pleasant interactions. It really is such a great community.
Yes even the emoji is an engaging cause it lets s creator know you were there! But of course for making friends on booktube I'd push for more then just an emoji. Comments are so incredible. Yes I'm so happy you feel accepted in the community
@@CoverswithCassidy Yes it is much easier to make friends when you can have an actual conversation but I still do appreciate just an emoji and I do notice when the same name shows up multiple times.
