The moment the minions all sing together are the moments where Mario last saw the those characters when going through the castle. O-Chunks and Bowser were holding the ceiling up from crushing everyone inside. Peach is holding Mimi from falling off down into a hole when the floor opened up. Dimentio was left to battle Luigi (but we all know what happens later.) Nastasha was only watching it all happen. Nice touch MOTI.
Credit goes to Juno Songs as well, since he made the art (Sorry if that sounded obnoxious I just really like everyone and hope credit is given to all of them)
I will only say, that I know why "It's far better still to be empty inside." Emptiness is great defence against lies, losses and breaking hope. Because who we are to dare to dream? What can hopes, dreams and feelings bring to us. Only pain and despair.
Cool detail I noticed that during the "Now destruction's on the rise!" parts where the minions are echoing it back, in both illustrations Dimentio is the only one smiling. Including the one with the silhouettes of their faces. (Mimi and O'Chunks almost look concerned??) Goes to show that Dimentio is the only one of the four that truly wants the end of the world to happen.
Natasha’s expression is that of a devout loyalist. No emotion, only Blek’s vision. Mimi is fearful of what can happen. O’chunks has an expression of grim determination mixed with fear on his face, and Dimentio is reveling in the thoughts of ending the universe. On his terms.
A similar detail about the game itself is that when (SPOILERS but I guess you're on a video about the end of the game but whatever this is the game I want to spoil the 2nd least ever) O' Chunks and Mimi end up taking Bowser and Peach with them, they insist that the heroes should move forward instead, and it's only fair because they won the fight. The only thing that ends up stopping them is the Castle falling apart. Dimentio, on the other hand, decides to be a sore loser and even though nothing goes wrong, he kills luigi of his own desire. Or at least, he pretends to.
@@empressofkingfishers8656 Did he? I mean, Entry Number 17 was one of the greatest things I've ever heard in my life. I can only think of a couple of lyric videos that come close to matching the sheer amount of emotion in his voice towards the end.
I wanna make it really clear here. I fucking adore this. Super Paper Mario has always been my favourite Mario game hands down, and Tom absolutely flawlessly nails the Count's voice in literally every respect. Something I think people often fail to recognise, is not only he is doing some impressive singing, but he's also singing *in character*, which is INFINITELY harder. Kudos to y'all on this channel for creating yet another fucking phenomenal video for me to re-watch hundreds of times. Ciao!~
So, anyone else a huge fan of Super Paper Mario? Seriously the story to this game was amazing! Now I want a Super Paper Mario musical after listening to this.
I played this game a couple years after it came out. I am 15 years old, meaning I played this when a was about six or seven, and it was one of the first games I ever played. I fell in love with this game and got it and played it every time I could rent a game. Needless to say, this game is one of my favorite games and one of my favorite stories (Heck, maybe even my favorite story) of all time. It's got action, It's got humor, It's got heart touching and disturbing moments and It has HIGH steaks for the heroes, for if they fail the MULTIVERSE ends. Not only that, but this game has the best line up of villains in ANY video game I've played. Sure, there are problems with the game, but I think the game shines through most of them.
Also, I was hoping for a Super Paper Mario musical after MOTI finished their other musical (don't know how to spell it, so I'm not even going to try). I am still happy with getting SPM Bytes though! Hopefully, MOTI will make an SPM musical someday.
I really love the concept of a platformer RPG. The story was also top-notch, with plenty of splendid characters, including my favorite jester. My main complaint is that the game is far too easy, particularly the bosses (which go down very quickly, cause very little damage, and have very few attacks). I am in full support of any kind of remake, though, with a new difficulty mode to fix those.
I love the game, but it had wind waker syndrome- very different from what people were expecting and hyped for, but once the huge initial backlash calmed down people started realizing it was great. I was upset as well at the time, as this didn't scratch the itch I bought it to scratch. I came back to beat it when in a platform mood and I adored it.
This sounds so freakin’ good; Tom makes for a fantastic Bleck, you can truly hear how broken the Count is as the song progresses, going from the Card Carrying Villain he wants to be seen as to the bitter and heartbroken man he truly is. Incredibly powerful, and a great tone setter for what’s to come. I think my main question is whether or not Nastasia and Mr. L will be getting their own songs. Nastasia never really had a theme of her own, so I wonder what you’d do if she does indeed get a solo track. And hearing Mr. L’s themes (like, any of them XD) with lyrics has been a dream of mine for a long time, and I’d love to hear what Juno could bring to the role ^_^
Absolutely amazing.. including the wedding.. Timpanis and Blumieres memory part.. and the story of Bleck inside the lyrics.. absolutely wonderful. I cannot wait to see the rest of this musical byte series!!!
@@Nuuk_Nuke_Nook ummm he is he is just a sympathetic Villain that eventually did the right thing but he was still the big bad in the game and still tried to kill people which makes him a villain.
I mean, is he really more redeemable than Dimentio? He tried to destroy all universes just because his girlfriend died. I mean that’s rough, but come on
Count Bleck is quite possibly the most tragic and sympathetic Mario villain in the franchise. Blumiere and Timpani (Tippi) were from opposing tribes. They fell in love and wanted to marry but it was considered taboo. His father was the chief of the Tribe of Darkness and banished Timpani. Forcing her to wander dimensions until the day she dies. Blumiere steals the Dark Prognosticus and becomes Count Bleck. And destroys his own dimension.
I’d argue that he is a up there with dimentio in terms of villiany . Hear me our because yes I know his backstory. So imagine you see some weird anomoly im the sky that look’s pretty creepy. You’re told that that thing is going to grow bigger in the sky and that once it covers the sky your dimension is going to be destroyed. Assuming that these dimensions are at least 13 (although I’d argue way more) this event could effect quadrillions at least. So you’re told that everyone you know is going to die. Oh yeah and so is the underworld thats gone too so no afterlife meaning endless sleep. One of the scariest thoughts imaginable. It’s really beyond human comprehension. And this is going to happen to your friends your family everyone you know and don’t know… and even beyond that scope. You learn that theres an actual person behind this and their reason? oH No i lOsT mY giRlfrieNd wHat wiLL I dO?! I don’t care how mych that hurt him the sheer scale of his villanu the dread quadrillions of people would have it makes his “motive” basically be zero. I get what its up against isn’t infinite technically but its close. And besides we have no clue how many dimensions there are in this game so as far as we know it literally is infinite and he has NO motivation basically. Which is why he isn’t sympathetic in the slightest
@@maxdunn4756 I mean, isn't that basically what Dimentio tried to _do_ at the end after you beat Count Bleck? Nastasia stops him, sure, but it was still an attempt.
Okay but that destructions on the rise is so good I need an hour long version. I love the super paper Mario bits coming out of here, that game doesn't get enough attention.
I might be wrong, but I think Alex said in a direct that they might make musicals from musical bytes if they get enough views, just like how lyrics videos with enough views lead to musical bytes for that series.
Jesus, Blecks singing was amazing!!! You can literally here the anger, pain, and hopelessness in his voice. A man who had once loved, but has since felt empty inside after he lost the person he loved. You guys captured these emotions perfectly!👍♥️
@@alolanexeggutor1010 which means there is a chance for a Nastasia song. Let's be honest other than Mr. L she's the best minion. That's just my opinion.
One detail I love about this song, besides the ones everyone's already said is how this song basically puts three songs from super paper Mario together and how fluent the lyrics are. The first part of the song being "birth of the chaos heart" where we are introduced to him and his plan to erase all worlds, the second part is "mixed memory" which shows us his past accompany by a duet with bleck or Blumiere as he was called back then and Timpani sing about their love, the final part which the song is named after is "champion of destruction" where we see count Bleck now who no longer cares for the worlds after his love was taken from him and now accepts his new destiny of being the champion of destruction with his minions, O'chunks determined to serve but fearful of the impending doom, Mimi who fears the end of the world, Nastasia who loves him but knows she can't replace his true love and his happy to serve him to her dying breath, and Dimentio who rejoices for the end of the world while setting his own plans in motion. This song really captures the story of a broken man who had the love of his life taken away from him, never to be found even in the afterlife, cast aside his feelings to love and devoted his life to a fate that tells him he will bring an end to all worlds, all while he weeps in silence for his love,Timpani.
GOOD LORD, THIS IS SO GOOD! AND THIS IS THE *FIRST* SONG FOR THIS SERIES! All the characters' voices are damn perfect, and the lyrics and emotions really illustrate the pain and anguish Count Bleck's enduring and now inflicting on the universes. God, when he announces to the worlds to "hold tight to all that you love, your family and friends", the quiet moments with Blumiere and Timpani, when his laugh breaks down into sobbing at the end... A+ stuff per the norm Alex. Count Bleck's one of my favorite characters in this whole franchise, and you really did him justice with this. So excited for the rest of the series!
Wow... You can hear Bleck's inner turmoil in a lot of these lyrics, and at the end the pain in his heart comes through so well. My own heart hurts for him..
Dark pit: pits anger and spite Dark link: links hate and rage Dark samus: samus's bundled up hate towards ridly Count Blek: man wanting to wipe reality, not caring if he goes with it, because his wife died, leaving him by himself
Well Count Bleck actually searched for his wife before he thought that she died, and even in the end of the game when they are reunited they have to cut their games short, in order to save reality. A truly bittersweet but loving and caring relationship.
His wife isn't actually his wife. Timpani was his love of his life, but they never married because it was kinda forbidden. And she never died. Count Blecks Father doomed her to travel between realitys and dimensions. She was actually alive but Merlon had to turn her into a Pixl, so she wouldn't collapse because of exhaustion.
Dark Samus has nothing to do with Ridley, and not that much with Samus. She just looks like Samus's suit and was born from her DNA, but the similarities end here
When I read in the description that the songs will be based around count bleck and his loyal minions I thought "YAY WE CAN GET DIMENTIO, CHARMING MAGICIAN" Then I remembered the twist at the end
SMG4 ruined Francis for me a bit. (cough cough the Anime arc) hopefully if Francis does get a song though. And with The Chucconerey Francis voice.(oh and Bowsers Galactic Arms the Spiniest arms in the Galaxy)
I kinda miss how the characters they played appeared at the end of the video to do the outro and tell people to subscribe and what not... But on the topic of this video, you captured Count Bleck perfectly, and having Dimentio sing again, even if for a single line, was definitely a treat.
Ok, time to confess I've never played Super Paper Mario so everything will be a surprise for me. Goddamn, you've gone all out for this one! It's been a while since we heard Tom as the leading singer, hasn't it? You sound amazing, mate! The powerful commanding voice breaks as the song goes on, showing Bleck's lost love, then rises every time when "Destruction's on the rise!". Even the last evil laugh breaks into sadness, it's wonderful. Mad props! I'm guessing the other characters are Bleck's evil entourage and each of them sounds amazing with the few lines they had. The only one I'm familiar with is fan-favorite Dimentio. Good job you all! Always good to hear Uprising's soft voice, brings calm to my heart before the evil storm comes. Art, lyrics and mixing are great as always. The lyrics that appear as the speech bubble of the game are a great touch! You've set the bar really high for this package! Hope to see you go even further beyond! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm just gonna have this song on loop for the next hours.
Well in that case you are in for a ride. I have played and seen a lp of the game more times than I can count. It is not as good as the the thousand year door but its still good
I don't usually comment on anything- but I just have to tell this. SPM was my childhood in many ways. And the moment I heard Timpani sing in this little musical...I instantly started crying. I can't even explain it. It just took over me, I suppose. Great voice work overall, for everyone. But thank you all so much for this. It's incredible.
The description should say “Count Bleck and his Loyal Minions and Dimentio” Unless Dimentio just isn’t getting a song in the package, which is understandable since he’s already gotten two
Bleck's theme(s) are a large part of what made him my favorite character in this game, and possibly any mario game. He's just an interesting villain and you did credit to both him and the theme with this. Getting a bit of a Phantom of the Opera vibe from the song as well. Good stuff.
And don't forget that the magic circle that's sometimes found under his cape is the same that appears in front of the Thousand-Year Door when Mario holds up a Crystal Star.
The first 3 Paper Mario games have recurring design elements like that. Shame Sticker Star rebooted everything to be literally just the main series designs with no stylistic liberties like the first 3 games did even with existing stuff (thankfully at least Mario, Peach and Bowser kept their PM designs, they were too iconic to change)
My favorite part: "Now destruction's on the riiiiiiiiiise~!" It just sounds so... AWESOME, for lack of a better word! Those harmonies, and everyone's individual voices as well. Kinda makes me sad that O'Chunks' song was really more talking than singing because he sounds just as lovely as everyone else here. Maybe I'll check out Candourlight's channel at some point, see if he's got any other songs. :)
The Laugh of the Count in the end shows me how much broken this man is... If I was him I would just doomed my father for eternity because he disconnected me and my love and would be satisfied with it. But he wanted more than that... He wanted to kill Infinity innocent lifes. He didn't only lost his happiness... He lost everything good... Even his sense of Justice
That's insane! I had Super Paper Mario and Count Bleck's amazing backstory in mind all morning long, and now this comes out! Truly, you're doing goodness above's work! 💙
That is so amazing, and words cannot express how excited I am for the rest of the Super Paper Mario Musical Bytes. I was just re-listening to Dimentio's songs last night out of excitement and I'm so glad the time is here now.
Oh my god I LOVE SPM the voice done for Count Bleck was absolutely perfect and fit so well! Timpani’s made me cry, genuinely it was so beautiful. You guys....you’re killing me. The minions genuinely gave me shivers! They fit so scarily well. Keep it up!
I love how this starts out with Count Bleck being the intimidating and serious villain, but slowly shifts into a deeper part of him. The part that was never truly evil, but misguided and heartbroken. Then it builds into his final decision to erase all of reality as he feels without the one he loved, there's no point in anything going on any longer. I love how you guys always captivate the true emotion of these games
And here I thought that Count Bleck didn't have any good themes. How foolish of me. Makes me wish we got to see a cover of their group's interlude theme, cause _that_ song is a banger. 0:35 - 0:55 I love how this part is in tempo with "The Ultimate Show". Shows just where this plan is heading from the start. "If this is what love can bring, wipe the tears from your eyes! Now only blackness sings! Now destruction's on the rise!" That is an amazing way to communicate Blumiere's transformation into Bleck.
Okay, I definitely need even more singing Count Bleck now. This is gonna be a GOOD month. EDIT: I'm hearing shades of Gaster in this. I mean, obviously they're sung by the same person but it fits Bleck SO WELL!
0:35 The tune of this part sounds familiar... "We perform, we rewrite the norm, and sing a song of nothing. From the void, the circus horns, proclaim the power rushing."
I just noticed this, and it's probably just a coincidence, but when Bleck's monocle breaks, the cracks from a peace sign. The little wheel thing, you know.
For some reason, this song makes me emotional. Maybe because i can relate to it in some way. And when something makes you emotional - that means it is well done.
Can I just take a moment to say that Tom has an absolutely incredible voice!!! I practically live for the songs he solos in! And he just fits Count Bleck so well… it’s breathtaking, honestly. Keep up the awesome work, Tom!!!!

Best tragic villain
Dimentio: Best traitor villain
Cool detail I noticed that during the "Now destruction's on the rise!" parts where the minions are echoing it back, in both illustrations Dimentio is the only one smiling. Including the one with the silhouettes of their faces. (Mimi and O'Chunks almost look concerned??)
Goes to show that Dimentio is the only one of the four that truly wants the end of the world to happen.
Or at least, he’s the only one aware of the true ramifications of this scheme....and revels in it.
"I thought Bleck wanted to destroy the worlds so they could be remade, but instead he intends to destroy them and leave them in ruin!"
@@AverageEldritchEntity well frowning is pretty much her default expression so its hard to tell if she's supposed to convey the same thing lmao
Can we just acknowledge and appreciate how high pitched Mimi’s voice sang in the second part? It is so well done! I love it!

Never with, Never to be
Never again the light you see,
Wow, that song even describes my backstory
Agreed.
I love how you can tell Bleck isn't evil, he's just heartbroken and wants no one to feel like him. That's why I love this game and boss
So, anyone else a huge fan of Super Paper Mario? Seriously the story to this game was amazing!
Now I want a Super Paper Mario musical after listening to this.
This was my first paper Mario game and not to be a hater or anything, the other paper Mario games was not good, compared to this
I played this game a couple years after it came out.

Count Bleck. Such a good “villain.”

@@Nuuk_Nuke_Nook ummm he is he is just a sympathetic Villain that eventually did the right thing but he was still the big bad in the game and still tried to kill people which makes him a villain.
@@Nuuk_Nuke_Nook also the Villain I know dementio ended up being the big bad but it doesn't stop the count from being a Villain too
Ah ha ha. How true.

Laughs in betrayal
I felt it in my soul when Blumiere's laughter faded into sobs
People ask: Where is count bleck? but no one asks how is count bleck.

Dark link: links hate and rage
Dark samus: samus's bundled up hate towards ridly
Count Blek: man wanting to wipe reality, not caring if he goes with it, because his wife died, leaving him by himself
Well Count Bleck actually searched for his wife before he thought that she died, and even in the end of the game when they are reunited they have to cut their games short, in order to save reality. A truly bittersweet but loving and caring relationship.
@@goldengreenie9672 thanks for actually saying something about it instead of liking
Evan York no worries!

This game is the only game to give motivation/personality to a Mario villain
Bleck's theme(s) are a large part of what made him my favorite character in this game, and possibly any mario game. He's just an interesting villain and you did credit to both him and the theme with this.
Getting a bit of a Phantom of the Opera vibe from the song as well. Good stuff.
I just noticed that Count Bleck’s mouth kinda looks like the chest demon’s mouths from the Thousand Year Door.

"If this is what love can bring, wipe the tears from your eyes! Now only blackness sings! Now destruction's on the rise!" That is an amazing way to communicate Blumiere's transformation into Bleck.
