Alita is my first ever 4K and because of it, I purchased my first 4K tv and player...that's right , this movie made me upgrade my TV and Blu-ray hehe🤓👍
What I found most impressive with Alita was how human Alita seemed.....crazy considering she's a CGI character. Rosa did a amazing job playing the part and the CGI team did a amazing job translating it to her character. I've seen a few people calling for Rosa to get a best actor nomination......before seeing Alita I would have laughed at the idea of a CGI actor getting a Oscar, after seeing Alita I'm 100% on board.

I just wanted to let you know LG OLED & NANO tv's do support Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG. I bought a Nano LG for that reason, being LG was the one supporting all formats. It says so on there website in the description. I believe they made add Technicolor too.
The "Extra" feature on The Fall was different than from the manga in that no natural disaster was mentioned, so there is some input on where a sequil might lead.
I watches it last night on my c9 and it was incredible some said it didnt have much color mine did in the highlights and parts that are supposed to have color I mean it was alot of dark scenes and the armor is greyish and balcks and that blue and purple but in a metal tone it was nice yku could see all of the reflections and the detail I mean it looked like it had so much depth more then some films I've seen lately I think soem people weren't really paying attention to this movie and how it was made I think they did a great job lots of beautiful imaging in this movie and it was a pretty clean film it had a little bit of noise but not much at all overall it's a very good movie amazing action and fighting scenes of course digital lol but it's great I think they did great and I watched it 2 times in a row just so I didnt miss anything it was good I saw one review on it ragging on the color I was like what did you expect and people always compare every movie to aquaman I'm kind of tired of that do you think every movie is supposed to look like that no lol not going to happen that was great for that movie but not every movie will be set in scenes like that this was def interesting and shot very well with great depth good color when you needed it and just really good detail at least for me the detail was good especially on the armor and the sword and the surroundings I loved it beautiful dark scenes good shadow detail amazing lights in the scenes all and all a great movie
The 4K disc in my combo pack won’t play unfortunately, for some reason my player reads it as a 3D disc. Haven’t come across anyone else with this same issue.
Looking forward to the 3D. I don't have my h ok me theater set up anymore, so will build another one next year. I just want a 3D 4K TV. I can dream, right?
If you haven’t watch 20+ Marvel movies before hand, this movie is definitely surpassed End game in every aspect. The movie is complete by itself without having any knowledge of it.
I’m a huge fan of Alita and a huge fan of Ready Player One films are literally nothing like each other besides the fact they are set in the future and RPO is only set like 30’years where Alita is 500+ the movie you should compare it to is Ghost In The Shell. 2 Mangas that has OVA’s that had live adaptions. Have you heard of It? Anyways good review glad you bought and enjoyed Alita. Also HDR, DV is not a format it’s spec! Also your review on the 3D disc is completely wrong but expected by some1 who starts it I don’t like 3D 😅😂

We got some great Cyberpunk movies in the past but not too many. I think Alita combines all the themes of this movies in one great one.

Maybe if you have a 2010 3D tv you see that 😂😭😂 the 3D is the best version of this film. Bought my copy in February. Having seen the anime that was released 20 years ago first, I think making the movie PG-13 took some quality off the story telling. The anime was very gritty I thought they would have kept that. For the most part they did but it was toned down a little less to my liking. As for the technical aspects of it, I wasn't blown away by the 4k presentation but I'm happy that during 2019, there WAS a movie that was HDR10+ encoded as I bought my 4K tv (HDR10 and HDR10+ capable, no Dolby Vision) at the end of 2019. On that note, WB released Wonder Woman 1984 in HDR10+ and I'm grateful to WB for doing that as my tv won't become obsolete.
Visuals were nice but not a lot of Atmos or surround effects in general. This is still a coming of age teen drama with some cyber punk aesthetics. If teen drama ain't your thing this will underwhelm.
Not shot in 3d but filmed with 3d in mind. The conversions are much better than they used to be. Still not as good as shooting in 3d but I don't think anyone does that any more....

I've never seen this movie yet and was really looking forward to watching it in 4k. I have tried buying this twice! Once from Amazon Canada and Best Buy Canada and both copies do not work. The 4K UHD disk says I need 3D equipment to play. Apparently they made a batch of these missed labeled 4k when in reality it's a second 3D copy. I'm so disappointed. I'm not going to try for a 3rd time. At this point I feel like I'll just keep getting bad copies. 😔
I saw Alita at the cinema and was lucky enough to get the 4k on offer (buy 2 for £30, I think it was). The other film I bought was the warcraft movie. ( which I had also seen at the cinema)
Late reply, but Alita actually has THREE Oscar Winners, Jennifer Connelly won Best Supporting Actress for A Beautiful Mind in 2002! Plus, Edward Norton has been nominated for 3 Oscars, and Jack Earle Haley was also nominated for best Supporting Actor as well. So there's actually quite a few impressive actors in the cast.
This is in my top 5 movies of 2019, with Endgame. I think that this movie has some better things going for it in Endgame in some instances. I understand Lion King is going to win best special effects at the Oscars, but imo Alita is more deserving of the title. Endgame's CGI of course is on the level of Alita, but you have stupid shit like Professor Hulk looking like a joke.
Very enjoyable reviews! I think you should document yourself just a little better sometimes about technical features and have a chart appear on screen as you talk, etc. Otherwise we feel at home with you. ;-)
Enjoyed the movie, and would actually prefer to see an (unlikely release of an) extended or director's cut. This sounds like FOX went out with a technical bang. Probably will pick this up as a reference disc set. Thanks!

I bought this movie at Best Buy. I got really mad when I realized that doesn't have Dolby Atmos. When I go to the movie audio options only shows dts-HD Master Audio and Dolby Digital. In the back of the box, it says that it has Dolby Atmos but it doesn't. 😡
Well I am glad you and the vast majority of theater goers enjoyed it. I rented it and was thoroughly bored and just skipped through to the action sequences. Darn me and my ADHD brain. LOL

Not sure. I looked it up and couldn't find one, at least at a reasonable price. Settled for a 4k HDR. There's isn't much 3D anymore anyway :/

I think that’s just the color scheme of the movie. The 3D was definitely darker though.
