One problem is that it's really hard to get taken seriously when you want to talk with a medical professional about an excessive sex drive. It seems that you often just get told stuff like "other men wish they had that problem" as though you didn't just confide in them about something deeply personal that's clearly troubling you. I don't know whether that was the case for CC and whether that's the reason he resorted to this, but something like that can easily destroy any faith someone has in the entire field of medicine's ability to help them. Don't just laugh and dismiss it if someone tells you something like that. Because they had to overcome a lot of feelings of shame to even get that far, and they wouldn't have done that if there wasn't a problem. You want people to _seek_ care, not _avoid_ it, and by acting like that you're contributing enormously to the latter.

Most people don't like to talk about their intrusive thoughts because they come from what the person experiencing them thinks of as the most taboo so there's a lot of self stigmatizing. There needs to be more awareness for what they are because having intrusive thoughts and not knowing is like constantly being held hostage by your own mind and believing it's because deep down you're a terrible person.

Intrusive thoughts can pop into mind at any time or linked to things as basic as switching on a light switch. They include things that the OCD sufferer finds repulsive and disgusting, such as harming others, paedophilic thoughts and visions of people dead/dying. All of which OCD sufferers virtually never do. However, you can see why a ritual may be done to try to alleviate these thoughts.

It would mean that you are not a bad person.
You may have the thought, but to have control is what makes an individual. Ive noticed with people i know that have conditions such as depression often blame themself in everything. Yeah. It's actually good to see many comments on OCD and intrusive thoughts here. I lived for the first 22 years of my life absolutely unaware that they were a thing. I thought I was a freak and a monster who'd always have to hide his "real thoughts." And I was ashamed and alienated by that. I was afraid that I'd do something if I ever allowed myself the chance It did not even occur to me to look for any information on it. Then around 22, I actually spoke about it to an online friend (it's a lot easier to do something like that when you're just a handle on the internet), and it absolutely shocked me when they just told me, without any disgust or fear, that it sounds like intrusive thoughts, and immediately linked me to resources about it.
That absolutely changed my life. Being able to put a name on it, seeing that it was a known and normal symptom of a known disorder, really made me feel absolutely redeemed. I was able to find help for it (I actually only realized I even had OCD from these symptoms, even if it is absolutely obvious in hindsight) and come to terms with the idea that these thoughts were not a reflection of me as a person, but a symptom. They became much more tolerable. Over time it allowed me to explain it to people close to me in terms that they easily understood and did not feel appalled by.
It's been 10 and some years now and I am married to a person who is perfectly aware of my problems (which have become much less severe in any case) and accepts that without any judgement. I just hope that others can also come to understand that they do not need to be trapped by something like this.

A lot of people tend to think OCD is just when someone has the pet peeve of having something out of order or being a "clean freak". Its actually a physical issue in the brain where certain thoughts or thoughts patterns can get looped and these thoughts cause an overwhelming amount of anxiety. These thoughts can be anything and not something you consciously think of. The "C" in OCD stands for compulsion. Basically someone does a certain action that temporarily relieves the anxiety. As someone who has had OCD that involved intrusive sexual thoughts(straight or gay), it is a tremendous suffering to have to go through(especially in the case that I'm straight dude).

I've been very passionate about how the "intrusive thoughts" meme has created potential for more understanding of OCD but is also being used to wildly misrepresent what they are which can be a bad thing.
People now think an intrusive thought is when you go to the store and suddenly get the urge to buy a big bottle of wine and get drunk or when you make an inappropriate joke or touch something you're not supposed to.
None of those are really intrusive thoughts. I think most of us have experienced something of the sort, but a lot of people will look at you like you're insane or a bad person if you try to explain it. The "feeling like jumping" or "holding a knife and havign the thought of stabbing someone" are fairly common (though I don't know if they fit by the strict definition of the term), but people now think an intrusive thought is when you do something fun on an impulse instead of something highly distressing, so when someone explains their intrusive thoughts about murder, self-harm or the like, people still don't understand that they're unwanted thoughts and don't reflect the person in any way.

@@thatDUDEfromMAINE yeah, toothaches and related things are really unpleasant. I am getting over an infection now and it is horrible at first. Thankfully there is penicillin and other stuff. If you follow the doctors instructions the pain can noticeably decrease in 2 days but they recommend 10 days of antibiotics. These are not the one pill and you are done things my parents took. Medicine has changed so follow the doctor's instructions and don't stop taking the medication just because you feel a little better. You might have the infection come back as resistant to the antibiotic then you are screwed!! The idea is to get rid of as much of it as possible. Above all else don't put things into your body that were not intended to be there. Someone drank a jar of pickle juice and that was a big mistake too!

It makes me sad how many people in these comments are not informed on OCD.
I have OCD, my mother is an OCD therapist- OCD is not just being clean or a neat freak. OCD is unwanted, obsessive thoughts that lead to compulsions. One of these sub categories is very commonly hyper sexuality, sexuality, pedophilia, or sexual OCD.
These are thoughts that a person does not want, but happen anyway so they often react with a compulsion.
The reason this makes me think that he probably had OCD is he reacted to his own unwanted sexual thoughts by essentially castrating himself which would be considered a compulsion.
Intrusive thoughts are often misunderstood and used in the wrong context compared to impulsive thoughts. Intrusive thoughts can be brutal, sexual, gory, intense unwanted thoughts. Impulsive thoughts are like- dying your hair or buying something.
    Intrusive is unwanted
    Impulsive is without thinking.
People with intrusive thoughts do not normally act on them- let alone want them. Many obsess over their thoughts and find ways to continually act on compulsions.
OCD is so wildly misunderstood and a HUGE stereotype. I hope someday the disorder is understood better than it is in the general population,

Huh?!? He was "a good person" because injected stuff into his nuts, because of a fetish?!?
I happen to be familiar with this utterly bizarre case, and there is a BUTTLOAD left out of this video (because it's not medically relevant... And would DEFINITELY get demonetized...)
(Believe it or not) this is about a fetish "polycule" of gay furries, all obsessed with having oversized genitals, esp balls. And it ended with one (VERY suspicious, and even more avoidable) death, and another man permanently paralyzed... And NONE were "good people"- They ALL watched someone they claimed to "love", die very slowly, very preventably and did NOTHING. all because they were too fixated with their own fetishism.
The full story is EXTREMELY fvcked up... (iirc there was a YT video called "Dylan and the Muscle-Pups" about the whole shitshow.)

Intrusive thoughts are really hard to deal with and can be really scary at times. You feel as though you can't tell anyone about it because people will hate you or be disgusted by you. I feel sad for this man that went through the extreme measure of castrating himself in order to make it stop. I do hope that maybe he was able to get some therapy after having treatment for his injury...

i feel so bad for this guy, and for everyone else that struggles with similarly intense intrusive thoughts and/or obsessive compulsions. it's devastating that it's still not so normalized to get psychological help or even just generally talk about issues just because they have sexual undertones. and the way that people also just don't understand that intrusive thoughts are unwanted and distressing...

God created this barrier for the fact that sperms are first made in puberty, unlike in females which ova r made during intrautrine life, and at puberty they only grow and mature
thats why the immune system "cant see" the sperm during development in order to consider them self-antigens
that also explains why men can still have kids at age 1717373 y.o while females can't
thats also explain why old women have higher risk of giving birth to a child with diseases like dawn syndrome
anyway.. go thank Allah for his creations
