  • The Dark Truth on What Happened to 2NE1 After They Disbanded
Join us in today’s video as we show you the dark truth on what happened to 2ne1 after they disbanded. The disbandment of K-pop group 2NE1 has been a sore spot for fans for years. One of K-pop’s biggest and most exciting girl groups, 2NE1 drew the proverbial short straw when it came to luck - the group disbanded in 2016 after a period of inactivity, putting an end to what could have been one of K-pop’s greats.
Ever since members of the group went their separate ways, fans have constantly hoped for a reunion project. This is because the members never fail to show that they’re still on good terms, holding private get-togethers and showing support for one another’s solo careers on their respective social media platforms. But why did they disband? Be sure to watch the whole video and in addition, do us a favor and like the video and subscribe and turn on the notification bell. We’ll see you in the next video!

I found KPOP in February 2023. I then found Blackpink and enjoyed most of their songs. then I found 2NE1 and I am now a Blackjack. I have listened a dozen other KPOP girl groups and like some. None, however, have moved me, affected me like 2NE1. 2NE1 shares emotions in their songs. The confront feelings of love and rejection. They have shown exceptional talents and the ability to bring variety to their craft. 2NE! makes me feel their are enjoying themselves when they perform. They are interesting! The other KPOP groups make me feel like I am watching clones all similar in expression and appearance. I appreciate their technical dancing but would rather listen to the song than watch their video. The loss of 2NE! has removed the best group, most innovative girl group in KPOP which cannot be replaced.

What always gravitate me towards 2NE1 over SNSD was that their lyrics always felt genuine and they speak from heart. My all time fav is "if I were you" have a listen!

You missed so much… Minzy got into dispute with YGE because a manager stole millions from her and the company did nothing. Supposedly the manager was “suspended”….but it happens to Lisa as well. She rightfully wanted a solo career and to do more commercials by herself like Dara, basically she wanted to WORK. She was the most vocally talented in 2ne1 yet YGE never allowed her to do solo promotions and still had the two idols per week on shows rule. This is why we only saw blocks of Daesung or Dara ever on shows. Then the screen time went to Suhyun and Dara only. This was to help Big Bang and 2ne1’s mysterious image which was such BS that even hoobaes like Winner and iKON couldn’t get close to them and why even Blackpink members couldn’t interact with in house groups. Regardless winner and iKON are close to their two senior groups even till now. BOM has the worst end tho. BOM was confident she was going to work under the black label with teddy as a producer and was constantly practicing hervocals but even there she was suddenly terminated. This caused a lot of hurt to her and even epik high, top, Taeyang and GD made sly remarks about the situation. CL who literally became the most influential to bring international music producers, fashion designers, international choreographers, influential business partners ect. Was sidelined by YG and just used her talents to literally lay everything on a silver platter for Blackpink.
Dara who was and is Koreas broadcasting darling was also used to benefit Blackpink and any artist inside of YGE when she was on shows.
Honestly YGE has been hurting a lot since 2ne1’s disbandment because they genuinely had the most powerfully diverse girl group not just in Korea but in all of Asias market. The only group who could give Big Bang a run for their money on a performance stage was none other than 2ne1.
2ne1 was created a lot like Big Bang, they were organically created with their stark differences in personalities and talents combined into a truly unique group.
I honestly think that Top seeing how 2ne1 was disbanded so easily was the first time he REALLY SERIOUSLY thought of leaving, Seungri leaving the industry just cemented his decision. you could just see the uncomfortable in all of the artists faces following the news.

I've been a Blackjack since 2NE1's debut in 2009, but also a fan of CL since 2006 when she appeared on BigBang's intro on their album and her appearance alongside Uhm Jung Hwa's song Disco.
The little known facts and many unconfirmed rumours presented here have been embellished a bit. Park Bom wasn't called the company's failure and she wasn't pushed to The Black Label. The decision to disband was actually forced by the board of YGE and as much as I despise him, YG didn't want to disband 2NE1. The demo of As If It's Your Last was recorded by 2NE1 for their Crush album but it was not chosen to be on the album because 2NE1 already had enough better songs for that album. Park Bom has never hinted that YG was the one who destroyed 2NE1.
Until one or all the members of 2NE1 spill the beans no one will ever know the actual truth.

Re: Park Bom's so-called "drug scandal", it was so bogus as the drugs in question were a prescription medicatiion (adderal) which was completely legal in the US (and which Bom was taking legitimately) but in Korea was banned because of certain ingredients (which Park Bom did not realise). The press tried to make out that she was some sort of illegal drug addict when she was anything but, it was an innocent mistake but YG didn't defend Park Bom because she was reaching 30 years old and the company was looking for excuses to get rid of its older idols.
Because of this (half the groups members nearing 30), it was never YG's intention to keep 2NE1 going forever regardless of what happened; whilst there are cases of male kpop idols having active careers well into their 30s, this is almost unheard of for female artists in the industry. Whilst 2NE1 was wildly successful, YG is ultimately a very formulaic and traditional idol company, being reluctant to renew contracts with more mature female artists and often getting rid of older ones by ceasing to promote and defend them. As a consequence, rather than seeing Park Boms " drug scandal" as a huge issue for the company, they saw it as a blessing in disguise because it gave them a reason to get rid of Bom without looking like the bad guys.
Re: Minzy being the "rebellious" one, I don't think that's a fair accusation. Minzi joined 2NE1 when she was 15 and despite having a very feminine identity (she loved to wear long skirts, wear long hair and sing soft love songs Etc), the company made her adopt an incredibly tomboyish style and persona in the group. Minzy hoped to migrate away from this false identity but instead of allowing her to be herself, YG forced her to stay with the short hair tomboy look.
On top of this, Minzy also felt creatively stunted in YG and as the years rolled by she started to realize that the only way she was going to get an chance to express herself more truly whilst still in her 20s was to be more confrontal towards YG. Does this really make Minzy "rebellious", when the reality is that YG forced her to rebel by putting her in a position where they made her spend all her prime idol years being someone who was the complete opposite of herself in every way and preventing her from having any freedom outside of 2NE1 in case it broke that illusion?
    I don't think so.

2NE1 were talented without a doubt. But they are a professionally produced idol group. The people that built and created them used their knowledge and experience in their next generation group Black Pink. People always talk about the success of one idol group being built on the success of the prior group but don't talk about the people in the back who actually built them. These idols are great because of the instruction they received from actual professionals. Some become good song writers and even producers because they got inside instruction from professional industry insiders that know the craft. Without YG and other production companies, each member of Black Pink or 2NE1 would have never made it on their own. They would have been regular people.

Minzy left to focus on her dance school.
YG was not doing anything with 2ne1.
    Only with CL.
Thinking she maybe could breakthrough in the US.
I thought then that if Girls' Generation couldn't do it, no one could.
Shortly after Minzy left, they announced 2ne1 disbanded.
    BTW, it's 'Twenty One'.
Just like you will say, 21.

This was the first of YGs disastrous mismanagement of their girl groups. Both 2NE1 and BlackPink were underutilized and should have had much larger careers. YG just does not understand how marketing works. That's why YG girl groups in both second and third generation were outclassed by other companies' groups. SNSD's popularity was unrivaled by anyone in the second generation, and Twice was more popular than Black Pink in Korea. Fortunately for BP, BTS had broken the US market, and they were able to take advantage of it.
I will never understand why YG always limited how much work they gave their girl groups. The amount of music put out by SNSD vs 2NE1 is ridiculous. How often was 2NE1 seen on TV vs SNSD? YG did it again in the third generation. Again, how much music was Twice putting out vs BlackPink? It is stupidly lopsided. The girls in these groups hold no fault in this. It was just mismanagement at the highest level. I feel sorry for YGs next girl group. I don't see anything changing with that company.

The rose colored glasses are strong on this video lol.
Lifted was not the breakout hit you're saying it was. If any song had that title for CL, it was hello bitches. Lifted felt like she was trying on getting high for the american public and using another culture to get ahead. It fell flat.
I started in kpop in 2011 and im a fan of 2ne1, but MAN. It's one thing to be bitter at YG but it's a whole other to still be bitter at Blackpink for their success simply because your fave got into a drug scandal and their company had to shelve them. It was the Korean public who held onto that scandal far longer than seemed reasonable. It was Korean up and coming rappers that kept mentioning that drug scandal for a cheap hit that kept it going.
A record company is a record company is a record company and they'll debut new music eventually, it's neither artists' fault. The color of the two groups' music is very different, this is not the trajectory 2ne1 would have taken anyway. They could have both existed under the same label, as was the original plan.
GET OVER IT. They debuted 7 YEARS ago. You have GOT to move on, this isnt healthy lol. Frankly its a bit offensive to 2ne1 because it can be inferred that you think Blackpink is derivative but you think they were still able to steal your fave's spotlight.

2NE1 was very troubled by the end. Writing was on the wall. If you had Blackpink waiting in the wings would you have made a different choice? No, you wouldn’t have. And it proved to be the right one cause BP reached a level of fame that no other YG group had before.

for all the acclaimed Blackjack in the comment.... all their solos can be considered a flop in the market... so really... was YG wrong? Clearly with the exception of CL these girls couldn't really shine individually, and even CL's result as a soloist after leaving YG is mediocre at best. This is just my objective opinion...as a group they definitely work well, but with Park Bom's scandal it was hard to shake things off which hasten their downfall.

A flop in the market? Each of the members solo songs charted in the Top 5 of World Music Charts. Them and Mamamoo are the only Kpop girl groups to do so. And 2ne1 did that when they are already disbanded.

2NE1 RUINED THEIR OWN GROUP!! PERIOD! This group drag YG reputation bcause of drug scandal. YG struggled to keep them. So the agency let go.

    • @kay3265
      @kay3265 11 месяцев назад +2

YG’s reputation was a mess before Bom’s scandal. Her’s was an issue that had been resolved (in Korea’s own court system) years prior to it resurfacing, because the medication was for prescribed legally in America for her depression/PTSD after witnessing a friend literally die in front of her on the soccer field. And YG didn’t “struggle” to keep them. They laid low for a while and got a massive ovation when they reunited at the MAMA awards. YG still let them go. I’ll give him credit for sticking up for Bom and 2ne1 when people were questioning their character, but their disband absolutely did not have to happen. If Bigbang could still be active after multiple drug scandals and vehicular manslaughter, there is absolutely no excuse for the disrespectful way he ended this group. They deserved better, end of story.

Korean public is just more unforgiving when it comes to girl groups, that's the sad reality of it. And Kpop was not as huge internationally at is it today where groups can thrive even with zero presence in Korea. So it was a business decision by YG after Bom's scandal. A shame tbh.

I found K-Pop because my bestie and roommate in the states was from Shanghai and showed me a HILARIOUS buffalaxed totally inappropriate phonetic translation video of GEE and that’s how I discovered Girl’s Generation (SNSD) and was OBSESSED ever since. They just made me feel so happy and in a world of boring gloomy alt-college rock I was being force fed the INSANELY produced MV’s brought me so much joy. ALSO, I just couldn’t wrap my mind around how 9 pop star girls could get along so well. All the girl groups in the states always managed to break up far too soon. 😢 When I heard 2NE1 ‘I Am The Best’ I was electrified and turned into an instant super fan. ☺️💙🩵🤍
