Man what a great suv! I currently drive a 2023 Model X and we are looking to upsize just a little between this or the Rivian R1S for a more usable 3rd row. For 80k, and a lot of dealer mark ups being closer to 90k, it’s just hard to say I would want this over the R1S when being close to the same price. I need to explore some of the lower trim models under 70k and would qualify for the tax credit when built in Ga, see what they offer.
The GV80 tops out around 80, you expect an electric version of the GV80 with 3 actual rows of usable seating (EV version of the coming GV90) to be priced at the same level of a GV80?
Suspect it’s going to be half that, the battery still won’t be US made. I could be wrong, but I bet it’s going to only qualify for 3750. Probably why Kia offered that as a rebate on launch.
Factor in all the inflation it is still pretty crazy that they want 80k for this suv. Reliability could be another issue, one of my friends is on his 2nd replacement battery of his Kia ev already, previous replacement took almost 2 months and only lasted 2 months

the R1S can be rather noisy inside: wind, air suspension adjusting sounds and creaking etc. Maybe that's the trade-off for something more outback capable.
The question is how much does it cost to replace the battery when it eventually dies after 2-4yrs, most likely 55 - 60k, when Hyundai / Kia denies the warranty not worth the risk..
Nice car. Great review! It’s a shame it’s so heavy and so expensive. Personally I think hybrids are the way to go. Best of both worlds. Once the battery tech improves in over next 10years I’ll consider one.

Electric powertrains are going to change the game. One of the biggest reasons to pay the premium for a luxury brand is the powertrain....they are exponentially better than mainstream brands (especially BMW's powertrains). Electric motors are really going to take that advantage away because of their smooth power delivery.
To the people on here complaining about price-you’re deluded. The competitors for this vehicle are the Tesla Model X and the Rivian R1S. The fully loaded Kia EV9 is $20-$30k less than the base Tesla and Rivian. That’s a bargain. The EV9 is the best value in this segment.
Really nice 3-row vehicle from Kia even though the 3rd row is a bit cramped and at $78k, it's pretty expensive. My local Kia dealer is charging $5,000 over MSRP making it a $83,000 SUV. Charger port is on the wrong side considering they plan on using the Tesla Supercharger network, that alone is going to be a headache at many of the Supercharger stations. Based on other reviews, Kia's 800V charging is really less than 600V and even though the charging speeds are good, the large battery still takes considerable time to charge. It's a really big vehicle so not very efficient compared to smaller EVs, other tests show 562 kw/mi vs 250 kw/mi for something like a Tesla Model Y. Why wouldn't the graphics on the screen match the vehicle? No way I'd buy the base model, way too underpowered. An ID Buzz would also be really cool as a second option for a 3 row EV.
I’ll definitely wait till they start building them in the U. S. And delete those 2500 second row seats and change the paint color to the free choices and then step down to the version just below this one but with 2 motors and I’m sold. One question..what’s with the cloth mesh headrests??
You can get it without the upgraded second row seats! Mine lay flat instantly at the push of a button. Still captain’s chairs with heated and ventilated seats, but without the power recline bs.
In Canada, in order to qualify for government rebates an SUV has to be under 65K Canadian so to get the GT-Line features you have to buy the 64995 land AWD with a 14K GT-Line "upgrade" kit. This means you can get 5K off for federal rebates and then provincial rebates on to of that. Funny that they have to do that, all that manipulation just to get the government gibs.
Be careful with the gt-line and any trim that has rear air suspension. Feels very unstable at highway speeds if you hit a bump while the highway is turning. Feels like it’s about to fishtail and spin out. I have the gt line and found this out the hard way
I worked on this car as a body electric engineer. This is a guinea pig generation of EV. This current EV platform from Hyundai/Kia is not a fully EV dedicated platform, it’s a modified version of an ICE platform. When the new eS, eM platform rolls out this car will become obsolete very quickly. A lot of things they implemented is very poorly thought out. Case in point - haptic touch audio controls in the center which is barely visible and difficult to use since the buttons are not separated. Looks cool at first but very gimmicky. Case in point 2 - A/C display between the gauge cluster and the infotainment screen is barely visible from the driver’s POV. Case in point 3 - they copied tesla’s flush door handles which has been proven that it’s another impractical, unnecessarily expensive, unreliable way to design a door handle. Case in point 4 - The ottoman feature in the second row looks cool but is really useless due to the laughable space available even with the shotgun seat pulled all the way forward. Case in point 5- Suspension is way too soft for the weight and power that this thing has. It will squat backwards in acceleration and nosedive during deceleration. Very unstable body controls Case in point 6 - AWD torque distribution is trash. The rear end will slide side to side very easily in rainy conditions. In summary - car full of gimmicky designs inspired by everything wrong with Teslas, and simply put too much torque without sufficient supporting hardwares and softwares in place. And they want you to pay german/japanese luxury vehicle money to be their beta tester.

One of the biggest reasons to pay the premium for a luxury brand is the powertrain....they are exponentially better than mainstream brands (especially BMW's powertrains). Electric motors are really going to take that advantage away because of their smooth power delivery.
Same exact one down the street from my house . Absolutely breathtaking in person smh 🔥 🔥 🤦🏻♀️ one day .. one day 🤭
Oh wow, I am thinking consider buy this EV.
Seeing these at a dealer for 80k is crazy for a Kia
I’ll definitely wait till they start building them in the U. S. And delete those 2500 second row seats and change the paint color to the free choices and then step down to the version just below this one but with 2 motors and I’m sold. One question..what’s with the cloth mesh headrests??
You can get it without the upgraded second row seats! Mine lay flat instantly at the push of a button. Still captain’s chairs with heated and ventilated seats, but without the power recline bs.
@@QueersandSteers exactly what I’m talking about, the 3rd row will be laying down 99% of the time anyway.
Thank You for All that you are doing for our Planet Earth.... Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Namaste 🙏🏻 😊 🌈 ✌ ☮ ❤
I love the way it looks, but 80k for a Kia is outrageous.
Very unstable body controls
Case in point 6 - AWD torque distribution is trash.
