Those other people at 5:08 are in fact Wendy and Joy from Red Velvet. You reacted to that Immortal Songs 2 performance too. They didn't directly compete against Mamamoo in that episode but Mamamoo won that episode and rightfully so. Mamamoo are just on another level in all their IS2 performances.

great reaction, I have not seen these specific performances in years, so for me this is wonderful to see. I have been a moomoo for 8 years, I missed their debut unfortunately and I have seen 100s of videos of theirs but these immortal songs are just some of the best ever. Watching these just shows how mamamoo really is at the top with the best of the best vocalists ever.
I’m 2/5 of the way through, and I had to comment! Thank you so so so much for going through all of Mamamoo’s IS2 performances. I watched them so much during my early Moomoo days, and they still bring me to tears to this day. There is an especially cherished moment at 10:05, when Hwasa and Wheein sing “half of my life is yours” to each other, and Hwasa holds her hand out to Wheein. Because of their history as best friends at school, and then moving to Seoul together to pursue their shared dream, that’s a very special moment appreciated by Moomoos.
Always learning something new from you guys! I knew they were close since middle school, but I didn’t know they moved to Seoul together. So, did they make it to training at the same time?
@@_KpopAjumma_ Yes, they went hand in hand to auditions together, and got rejected many times together before eventually getting signed with RBW. Hwasa talks about how she would not have got through those tough years without Wheein. At that time the company now called RBW was mainly an agency for training idols who would then potentially get signed into groups under other agencies. At some point Wheein was set debut in a group whose leader was Moonbyul, but apparently that lasted less than a week. Eventually co-CEO Kim Do-Hoon got serious about starting his own group. He had two trainee teams, with Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein and Hwasa in Team A along with a woman called Sujeong and one or two other trainees. There was also a slightly larger backup Team B. Apparently Hwasa was a “monster trainee” that everyone was very impressed by. Team A was shortened down to five members, with Sujeong as leader. This was meant to be the new group, but close to debut Sujeong decided this was not the life for her. Solar was pushed into leadership, and Mamamoo became the four person group that we love. (There is a truly wholesome video of Mamamoo reuniting with Sujeong a few years later. It’s amazing how she fits right in to the group chemistry. I think she must have had a huge influence on them. They used to always thank her in their album credits.) The details of these facts are somewhat hard to be clear about. The members sometimes mention some of the details in variety shows or interviews, but they tend not to say too much. So some of what I’m saying above is probably not quite accurate.
They are the first idol group to won in the immortal song variety show. They win 3 times for the songs backwoods, wonderful confessions and dance in the rhythm. Their live performances is a top tier in the industry. And they said all they wanted was not to go after Mamamoo and Mamamoo killed the first show with Backwoods and they were the first gig in they second one 😛 They were not really happy about it...

It’s likely that I will do that before I go to Wheein concert. I have a tendency to binge on a group that I’m about to see😂. It’s just sometimes im not watching from my computer. Really I should just set up cameras around the house, but that also means that I would have to dress properly or at least wear pants around the house. 😂😂

So wonderful to watch these again! Thank you, Ajumma, for these three videos (I can’t wait for next Monday!). One thing that always strikes me is the contrast between their first IS2 performance, Wait A Minute (January 10, 2015) and the last one in this set, You In My Fading Memory (December 31, 2016). The transformation from rookies, putting their hearts and souls into making a big impression, to top stars playing around on stage, indulgent but brilliant, and having huge fun in front of cheering fans. 2016 was the year they won first place in nine music shows (8 for You’re The Best and 1 for Décalcomanie); they released their first full album, Melting, to great acclaim, as well as one of their strongest mini-albums, Memory; they had their first concert, MOOSICAL, whose two Seoul dates sold out within a minute of going on sale. I get quite emotional watching those two videos one after the other. We’re literally seeing these four women achieve their dreams.

Unlike your mom I like getting notifications but for some reason yt didn't notify me about this one. Backwoods kills me every time. As I recall it marked the beginning of my infatuation with Solar. After my first two MMM songs, Piano Man and Delilah, I was hooked and watched all their MVs up til then (2016) along with some MMM on Crack vids and my initial impression was that Solar was a silly airhead with pipes, not my type at all. Imagine my surprise when Solar was the one who kept making me cry during their Immortal Songs ballads, forcing me to revise my superficial first impression and take a closer look. I don't think I've ever been happier about being so wrong about someone. :) During Love Story of a Girl the female competitor you asked about is known as Ben, real name Lee Eunyoung. Speaking of MMM singing Happy Birthday have you seen the clip of Solar, Wheein & Hwasa singing Happy Birthday to Moonbyul in a car? You need the contrast of the original version to fully appreciate what Mamamoo did with it. MMM's Gloomy Coincidence is almost on the same level as their Immortal Songs performances so it would be a good follow-up to this series. Kola was present in the Sugarman video and you'll see one of the members wiping away tears during MMM"s performance as well as the usual fly-catching expressions on the faces of MMM's competitors, Oh My Girl. Btw, MMM & OMG have always been good friends and since RBW bought WM Entertainment a couple years ago they're now under the same umbrella. They are just such a magnificent group, amazing in their own rite. Someone suggest Sugarman, also, and I'm already looking into it. Sadly, Wheein is always the not so noticeable at first because she doesn’t belt like solar and hwasa and people always will notice the rapper first. After sometimes, people will feel in love with her soulful vocal that can touch your heart
For their 8th anniversary, Mamamoo went to a spa and had a meal and played games and did some karaoke challenges. It was so touching to see these four very silly and wonderful human beings going back in time to their Immortal Songs era, such a long time ago for them.
@@_KpopAjumma_ The whole video is 15 minutes and has a mellow pace that makes it unsuitable for a reaction video. However, the link I posted above goes directly to the start of a section that's about three and a half minutes long. I think that part in isolation would be pretty awesome to react to, especially so soon after your IS2 reactions. (That said, there's so much Mamamoo content out there that sometimes you'll just want to click and watch things since you won't be able to react to everything.)
I feel so sorry for Byulie during some of these. The rest of the group has beautiful harmonies, but as usual, the rapper has few lines and often no choreo, long stretches of no activity. She tries to hide it, but there are times when her boredom clearly shows.
She’s mentioned in interviews that at the beginning couple of years of Mamamoo she wasn’t too happy with his things were going. But it’s good to see how her professionalism overcame this and helped her become such an amazing artist.

And along the same line - taking something mundane and kinda cheesy and turning it into something awesome - I'd love it if you reacted to Mamamoo's version of Gloomy Coincidence on the tv show Sugarman and a live performance from the 90's by the original group, Kola. You need the contrast of the original version to fully appreciate what Mamamoo did with it. MMM's Gloomy Coincidence is almost on the same level as their Immortal Songs performances so it would be a good follow-up to this series. Kola was present in the Sugarman video and you'll see one of the members wiping away tears during MMM"s performance as well as the usual fly-catching expressions on the faces of MMM's competitors, Oh My Girl. Btw, MMM & OMG have always been good friends and since RBW bought WM Entertainment a couple years ago they're now under the same umbrella.

You're correct - Wonderful Confession was MMM's 2nd win on Immortal Songs.
They slipped in a bit of their hit You're the Best during You In My Fading Memory, which is the part that sounded familiar.
With Mamamoo cliched expressions like tearing up the stage and burning down the house are almost literally true.
I see another comment recommended Big Mama as terrific ballad singers. You might also want to check out some of the ballads on Immortal Songs by famous soloists like Sohyang, Ailee and Park Kiyoung.

I don't really remember who I fell for first. However, I regretfully remember that I underestimated Wheein. They are just such a magnificent group, amazing in their own rite.
Someone suggest Sugarman, also, and I'm already looking into it. The videos are also getting blocked, so I'll have to continue with the masking/fading.
I'll keep those soloists in mind for future IS2 reactions.

Sadly, Wheein is always the not so noticeable at first because she doesn’t belt like solar and hwasa and people always will notice the rapper first. After sometimes, people will feel in love with her soulful vocal that can touch your heart

@@_KpopAjumma_ The whole video is 15 minutes and has a mellow pace that makes it unsuitable for a reaction video. However, the link I posted above goes directly to the start of a section that's about three and a half minutes long. I think that part in isolation would be pretty awesome to react to, especially so soon after your IS2 reactions. (That said, there's so much Mamamoo content out there that sometimes you'll just want to click and watch things since you won't be able to react to everything.)

I feel so sorry for Byulie during some of these. The rest of the group has beautiful harmonies, but as usual, the rapper has few lines and often no choreo, long stretches of no activity. She tries to hide it, but there are times when her boredom clearly shows.
I notice that too. There are a couple of times when I saw song with the rest but you’re right, it looks awkward.
She’s mentioned in interviews that at the beginning couple of years of Mamamoo she wasn’t too happy with his things were going. But it’s good to see how her professionalism overcame this and helped her become such an amazing artist.
