What she said at 2:20 is acctually so true. School literally sucks the fun out of doing anything. You cant appreciate a good poem without having to analyse every single thing 🙄

    • @noodlesx8506

I completely understand what you are saying, but to be honest, they ARE there to actually analyse the poem. It may not be fun, but it’s an English lesson. They gotta pick words apart and analyse the words and meanings. That’s kinda what an English lesson is, so what do you expect. It may not be fun, but they are there to learn about English language and get an education on it. I understand what you mean though.

Being able to analyse material is a pretty valuable skill that you could easily end up using later in life though. Also you can still enjoy reading poetry whilst trying to learn the deeper meaning behind it. If anything that should make it more interesting

Schools put so much pressure on children, it's so damaging to their mental health becuase of all of the stress, I understand that they are preparing us for life, however it's so stressful and so damaging to the children

    • @kyrahampton7417
      @kyrahampton7417 3 года назад +106

Yes schools so pressure on students, but they do it for a good reason. Yes it can be stressful, they do it to teach them that not everything in life comes easy. You have to work for it. Ever heard the quote “things have to get hard, before they get easy.” It’s true. You have to put the hard work in, to get good results. Like with anything in life, whether it be trying to lose weight, or overcoming a fear, or overcoming difficulties. Life is hard, but you gotta work for it. I think that is why the teachers put pressure on them. I know it can be stressful for them, but trust me it’s worth it in the long run. So it’s actually good that the teachers are being strict/pushy. And tbh, it’s actually more damaging for their mental health if the teachers constantly mollycoddled them and wrapped them up in cotton wool. A lot of people need to learn things the hard way. If you constantly shelter someone and wrap them up, they will never want to do things for themselves. They will always want things done for them and never want to grow up. This is why you have to toughen kids up a bit. Yes it puts pressure on them, but it’s way better than being laid back.

    • @kelseyharding9356

@@kyrahampton7417 I completely understand everything you have said! They do need to put pressure on kids to make them work hard to achieve good things however as someone who is still currently in education the pressure is too much. Multiple lessons every day constantly expecting such high standards it gets tough. So much extra work that gets set by schools so there is no 'down time' to actually relax and be a kid for once, which is really hard. As someone who suffers from bad mental health school expects way too much grades wise, as some schools only care about students grades, and not their mental health. I think that sometimes children should be able to be kids, go out with no stress from school, and have a break (ik we get a few weeks off here and there, but we still get set so much work so cant really have a break) I just think that the pressure can get too much and the expectations are so unrealistic for most people

    • @kyrahampton7417

@@kelseyharding9356 yeah I do understand what you are saying tbh. Yeah I understand sometimes it can be a bit too much, and sometimes they expect a bit too much. I remember I used to get quite a lot of homework from different lessons. I do understand what you are saying, but tbh I remember having quite a fair few half-terms. It’s an Autumn half term now. A lot of kids still do have a lot of free time, I mean you are on RUclips at the moment, is that not free time? I do completely understand what you are saying though, plus some kids might have hobbies or after school activities to go to and stuff. So yeah sometimes it can be hard to fit everything in, so I see what you mean. :)

@@kyrahampton7417 yes you're right! I'm on youtube right now in the little spare time I have becuase I deserve a break. Since I've been back in education (Sept time) I've hardly had any time to myself or to go out and do things becuase so much learning has been missed in lockdown so they are trying to cram in all of the work we have missed in, and all of the work we need to do, so everyday the amount of additional work I'm getting is unbelievable, I get home and I'm sat doing work for hours just to try and keep up, and by the time I've finished I'm knackered so need to sleep but half of the time I cant because I'm so stressed that I'm falling behind or worried that my education is at risk. The work is physically and mentally exhausting for many people, I cant speak for everyone obviously, but I can speak for alot of people that I know! However schooling is so important and they need to pressurise us to get us to where we need to be, like you said, but shorly mental health is more important especially in times of crisis like this! However I'd like to thank you for pointing your views and your side of the "debate" if that's what you want to call it respectfully as I do appreciate it, as most people wouldnt have been so nice about their views& at the end of the day this is only how I personally feel and how I know a few people I know feel, so I cant speak for everyone

@@kelseyharding9356 yes I completely understand what you are saying 👌🏼 yeah they do expect a bit too much sometimes. I think there should be a balance. (Like with anything really.) But I think it’s good that teachers are pushy and put pressure on,to get you where you wanna be. I mean, having good grades and getting qualifications isn’t the end of the world if you don’t get them, but having an education is still important, and it’s still good to have qualifications behind you because it can help for future. This is why they are pushy. Their job is literally to get you an education. So yeah it’s good, but yes I think sometimes it’s a bit too much. Like I said, there needs to be a balance. Perhaps if they laid off giving as much homework. And yes your own mental health is definitely more important. I agree, I think they should probably cut down on giving students work on complete. It’s good that they push students, but yeah they should just cut it down a bit. Like you said, it can become mentally exhausting. I do see your point. And thank you for seeing mine! She needs to realise she can’t stay a kid forever. I wish my teachers would of been supportive and pushed me more, like the teachers did in this video. I had completely given up on myself and the teachers didn’t even try to help. I like how the teachers are constantly trying to push her in the right direction. it’s actually good the teachers are being pushy/strict and keeping on top of things, instead of being laid back, it shows they are doing their job well and pushing them forward to get them an education. A lot of teenagers need to be pushed, otherwise they will give up easily and carry on wanting everything done for them. It’s actually important to give a bit of tough love to teenagers, because they need to learn about meeting deadlines/taking responsibility for themselves. Yes it can be a stressful time for the student, but a teacher is being pushy within good reason. So yeah, I really respect the teachers and the hard work they put into to help them get an education. 😃

They don’t expect you to know what you want to do at 16. The teacher even said that in the video, that it is hard for to know at such a young age. Teachers understand it can be a challenging time. However they put pressure on,to toughen you up for the real world. Knowing in the adult world there are deadlines to meet, and bills to pay, taking responsibility for yourself, turning up to your job on time, doing as your boss says. See how those examples relate to things in school? how in school you have to do what your teacher says, and turning up on time, deadlines with homework. These are the equivalent to tasks in the adult world. That’s why they are pushy and put pressure on. It’s to prepare you for what’s to follow.

I’m in my early 20s now and am taking an a level online that I paid for, and going to college next year, which I then will have the right grades for university! A lot of my friends all wish they had taken a couple of years off to really think about what they wanted to do because uni shouldn’t be taken lightly, it’s a lot of money, yeah I’m sure it’s great fun too but just take time out if you need to to gather your thoughts and proceed afterwards - it’s better than having a degree you don’t want to do anything with ! No matter how old you are you can pursue something new, don’t compare yourself to how quickly others are doing things because they’re likely just doing the same as everyone else because it’s what we’ve been told to do after school. I understand schools put pressure on students, and it’s a shame and it can be a difficult and stressful time, however in the long term-I actually appreciate schools being pushy. it’s better for schools to be pushy/strict and keeping on top of things, instead of being laid back. It shows they are doing their job well and pushing you forward to get you an education. As a teenager at school, I used to hate it and thought teachers were just annoying. But as I have grown up, I actually appreciate that approach. A lot of the time, teenagers need little kick up the arse (to put it harshly.) otherwise they will keep acting carefree and being a kid and never wanting to grow up. If you keep doing everything for them, they will never learn to be responsible. Having the tough love approach is actually really helpful. I know it can put pressure on them and can be a stressful time, but they only do it because they care. Tbh nothing comes easy in life, you have to work for it. And I think that is what the teachers are trying to teach them. 💕

For any current school student: there are a thousand and one ways into a career path. Yes doing well in school and going on to tertiary education after is the most straightforward way, but it is not the only way. I was considered a failure by my school, I barely graduated, and on my last day of school I had zero idea what I wanted to do. I am now working on my Phd. Don't get discouraged and just do the best you can to put yourself in a good position. Even if you think you're in a bad position there are so many ways out of it. Don't let it ruin your confidence or hurt you.

The one thing that I understood from school is that those who do well want to have a job based on the subjects they do in school. I’m not saying this is always the case, like their are gifted ppl who do well or have a good memory.
The people who do bad or not as well as others, usually don’t want a job in whatever subject their learning so they’re just left empty with no motivation or drive to do well.
I think this is the problem with education today, they need to widen the amount of subjects and revamp the whole education system because it’s so out of date with todays times. Like who tf is ever going to need algebra, shapes or what’s inside an animal cell 😂 what we need is real life stuff like how to do your bills, even teaching us about different ways to make money would amazing. I think if we learned these kind of things, a lot more people would be motivated and have a higher chance of doing well since everyone will eventually need to learn about these things

When its more 'hard-core' high level pure maths algebra its starts to be useless unless you're doing Maths or perhaps physics but basic to medium level algebra does help you think differently and widen your understanding and is used for loads like statistics wider fields like data, computing, sport, marketing, business etc etc. Not just pure maths so it is useful to an extent. The girls that are rude, popular, pretty or the ones that misbehave in class being class clowns, it seems to be those who get support and attention from the teachers, and yet they succeed and get good grades. This is super relatable. I just clowned around and got physics and biology because I got interested last moment. It is insane to consider anyone at that age is capable to determine a future at 16. I was lucky to find interest and go to university for engineering because I was bored, and i somehow passed that. However, this isn't a sustainable system of education. Gameify it, make students comfortable with these topics. Don't make it sound like a "Foundation of society that takes years to achieve".
